The ending, with the tassels on her 😳: funny story. I saw this movie in the theater with my sister, and I remember her telling me that that is NOT easy to do and not many show girls can do it and Elvira nailed it. Just... important information for a 12 year old to know at the time LMAO
I never get tired of this movie. Elvira is so great. Constant innuendo, bad puns, self-deprecating humor, Cassandra Peterson can deliver it all and look fabulous doing it. Haunted Hills isn't as good, but is a send-up to gothic horror and still a lot of fun.
Couple of Elvira facts. The Vegas dream was a real thing and she was a Vegas showgirl when she was 17. She met Elvis there and he convinced her to try other things. Eventually she ended up in LA with The Groundlings where she created the Valley Girl persona that was the basis for Elvira. She was hired to be a minion for Vampira, who was supposed to be returning to be a horror host. Vampira bowed out and Cassandra Peterson, in an outfit designed by a drag queen and a name picked out a hat, became Elvira.
I love Elvia and this movie. It's corny and hilarious! I first saw Elvira when I lived in Los Angeles back in the early 1980s and loved her television show.
fun fact:the car used as elvira's ride it's a 1958/1959 ford thunderbird "macabre mobile" also seen in the counting cars episode satanic mechanic getting a interior redo 👍👍
If you liked this, then you would love these: "Elvira's Haunted Hills" (2001) "Death Becomes Her" (1992) Bruce Willis, Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn "So I Married An Axe Murderer" (1993) Mike Myers, Nancy Travis "Shadow Of The Vampire" (2000) Wiilem Dafoe, John Malkovich, Cary Elwes "Sleepy Hollow" (1999) Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Christopher Walken, Christopher Lee. Directed by Tim Burton, music by Danny Elfman "Tremors" (1990) Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Michael Gross, Reba McEntire, Ariana Richards "Mary Reilly" (1996) Julia Roberts, John Malkovich
omg, omg, omg! (warning this is a long one lol) Memories after watching this reaction. So I first heard of Elvira from my mom, who knew her when she did her earliest monster movie react films but I guess she didn't expect the more older viewer rating for the film. i think i was 6 or 7. this film also had one of my earliest crushes. the dark headed actor not the elm street actor but the other one with the side part fancy vintage hairstyle was my first crush. Then years later when elvira revived her monster movie react I believe she called it Elvira Movie macabre in the episode where she react to "Lady Frankenstein" which was his first appearance. Elrick, Elvira's long lost son came on the show. The first appearance he took her hostage during the entire reaction to Lady Frankenstein then at the end she finally bonded with him. I was a teen when I saw this series and I had a big crush on Elrick, Rebellious Goth boy Prince of the Dark. Omg if you can find that episode watch it because omg Elrick was insanely funny! Speaking of the flamingo in vegas. I've a friend whose great uncle created a sculpture for it as well as the clown sculpture/ or original sign at circus circus in reno nevada. seeing this again makes me so sad her tv series never made it I loved how it had sabrina the teenage witch vibes and elvira's niece was literally me as a kid. (did the link to the pilot episode work btw?) Wait until see the sequel. I wont spoil it BUT it is more of a prequel. and it makes me wonder if Elvira is much older then she claims to be. The reason why is if you look at the flashback scene of her aunt taking baby elvira to safety she's dressed very medieval and then later in the aunts portrait she's dressed in what looks like a southern belle. in Elvira haunted hills the setting is late 1800's maybe early 1900's when you get a chance to see Elvira haunted hills if you thought Bob was hot, wait to you see Adrian the stable Master ...in the behind the scenes they nicknamed him the Carpathian Fabio. and i wont reveal it but they did something special with him, something on purpose, but i will reveal it when you get a chance to see that film. Richard Obrian's character... omg hilarious!
I can't for the life of me remember the name (it's on the tip of my tongue) but the black and white movie sequence at the beginning is a real 50's B-Movie.... And yes, I started watching her original Los Angeles tv show way back in 1981 with my dad, I was four years old Been a huge fan ever since. Also the part of Uncle Vinnie was written for Vincent Price, but despite being good friends with Cassandra Peterson (Elivira's real name), he passed on the movie because it was too racy for him.
Omg for real! I’m glad you finally found it! Lol I really think I underestimated how much people love this movie! It immediately became my top reaction video ever 🫣
@@shut_up_james I grew up on this one so with this and Buffy, my sense of humor gravitates the the punny ones. It was a blast watching you all react to it though.
Good friends ease wusses into horror. Like a trusted guide for your first acid trip... 😂❤ The old joke: Lost tourist: "Do you know... (insert something that fits the scene, like...) the way to San Jose?" (google Dionne Warwick, lol) Elvvira: "No, but if you hum a few bars, I can fake it." *rim shot 😊 The joke goes back to Vaudeville 😉❤
I love this vid with your friend! Great!! Hang myself in the oven is still my favorite go-to. I say it to this day when I have a moment. Is that wrong? 😳
WOW, in your "supporters" list, you have BlockBusted Videos, I was like "BLOCKBUSTER VIDEOS? HOW OLD IS THIS VIDEO?" LOL. I had to reread it. GREAT VIDEO, I love the movie (and her of course). I actually just did a video for her birthday. Oh, and she's very nice in person.
I just came across your video. I loved both of your reactions to the movie. It's one of my favourite movies. I'm originally from LA, but now living in Dublin, Ireland. I actually flew over to Hartford for CT Horror Fest. I've sent cause I wanted to see & meet Cassandra Peterson too. I simply love & adore her. It's a shame I didn't get to meet you there.
i seen this film when it came out on VHS in 1988/1989 (i was 8 or so loved it! i could probably write a book on it there’s so much going on within the film it’s very smart (The town is a dig against Jerry Falwell who was a massive scumbag (70’s/80’s Televangelist) Larry Flynt pretty much ran a story against Falwell in his magazine) As a “Christian” he made religious people look terrible This is the only film (NBC) financed/distributed needles to say it bombed at the box office (Which really makes no sense i remember the crazy marketing behind the film lots of tv spots there was a store within the local mall that only sold Posters (They sold 4 different Elvira: Mistress of the dark (theatrical posters) also had this life size standee for sale (It was taller then me but, i was 8 or so) it was spotlighted in a few issues of Fangoria magazine! Light conspiracy i think NBC only made the film as a tax shelter (It was meant to be shelved but, somebody looked at there books and it has to be put out to theaters! In 1988 it was the peak of horror it couldn’t have bombed (i understand it’s more a hybrid but, it’s so much fun & memorable) if i had to guess most theaters only showed it for a limited time (so it was destined to fail) It’s so much more then a “Cult” film! All the actors due a bang up job (Edie McClurg “Chastity” & Susan Kellerman “Patty” both knock it out of the park (They both seems to be genuinely good/nice people in real life) I’m a bit surprised when people say they never seen it (It’s a essential 1988 film) After the dvd was released it was stuck in limbo due to NBC so it was released on blu-ray late into the cycle of Physical media it was originally going to be distributed by this Strange foreign company that got the rights and actually did a boat load of extras for the release the site crashed for 48hrs due to the demand needless to say the company walked back a release date and had strange “errors” with the steelbooks & artwork then that company went dark and went out of business (Arrow home video picked up the pieces with the Collectors edition of Elvira it’s a amazing release 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍 hopefully people who never seen this give it a chance (It’s a shame we never got a follow up sequel) 😢
@@shut_up_james sorry to burst your bubble It's not really a sequel (It was this really odd ball direct to video Film) Not bad but, it's nothing like the original Elvira (Elvira also shot a tv pilot (The concept would later be used for the CW's Charm) the Unaired tv Pilot is better then the second film imo (It's also very easy to find online) It's also on the IntenretArchive (free)
The only thing “cringe” here is your conclusion. This is why super woke people of 2023 can’t handle a movie from 1988. Also high school aged people are not “children,” that’s a recent ridiculous line of thought, and there was nothing illegal about Elvira’s dance at the theater which was just supposed to be a showcase of her stunts to close the show and was like in “Flashdance,” it’s not like she was being a stripper or something. And your female friend didn’t contribute any insightful comment she just comes off super fake and stuck up and goes “Awww” sometimes . This movie is so fun and so good. Also she says it’s not scary at all but the horror scenes did get you both, like the uncle’s changing face, and you randomly skipped that major jump scare with the uncle’s arm bursting through the wall. SMH.
We actually enjoyed the movie very much so I’m sorry if that got lost In translation? And I’m not sure how us celebrating the female empowerment in the movie is bad, but ok lol Also, my friend is just inherently adorable. She can’t help it 😂 sorry you hate us so much, but thank you for watching!
@@shut_up_jamesI’d like to take a moment to sincerely apologize. A remarkable lot has changed in 5 days, 5 days ago I was a very angry man with different sudden things going on in my life that hit me like a brick. Things that have since resolved. But I realize now I took out my anger on you 2 and shouldn’t have. The cringe thing was my comment. In fact I was an a-hole… I don’t hate you 2 at all. And I realize I shouldn’t have been so judgmental and mean towards your friend. And I know appearances can be deceiving. She’s probably a very nice person. Both of you seem to be. . My whole “woke” comment is because I thought you 2 were saying that the scenes of aggressively forward men towards Elvira shouldn’t have been there and made it a bad movie, and same with Elvira’s “Flashdance” scene, so I thought you 2 were saying that it should be cancelled because of being offensive. It’s weird how much I misunderstood. And I’m glad to hear you 2 liked it after all. Like how can anyone dislike a movie that has a rat with a mohawk lol? And finally I wanna mention I shouldn’t tell you what you should or shouldn’t include because I know you can’t show the whole movie and that’s not for me to say
@@albertjimeno807 I’m sorry for whatever was going on last week and I appreciate your apology. We all have rough days so I get it. Our humor is definitely alittle dry and satirical (which is why we enjoyed the movie so much) but hopefully we see you back on the channel in the future. We’re here to have fun and get spooked, that’s all lol 🙏
The blonde teen lad was originally meant to be played by BRAD Pitt but she didn’t pick him as she fancied him and said why would she pick the Matinee guy Bob when Brad Pitt was around. Also the dress was designed by her friend Robert as a way to cover parts of her body which are scarred from an accident at 18 months old when she was scalded. Cassandra is in her 70s now still looks amazing you need to read her biography Yours Cruelly, she was the youngest Vegas show girl ever. Also you’re right it’s very Feminist she saves her life with the symbols of her femininity (heels, boobs) and the men objectify her but she won’t settle for less than she deserves. Your Carrie nod was funny as Chasity actor Edie McClurg was in the original Carrie as Helen the nerdy girl in glasses, she and Cassandra friends from performing in the Groundlings together.
@@shut_up_james yeah she’s not he easy life she has some terrible encounters in the book, she also has pictures from the times she talks about in the book. She even mentions the issues she had with Maila Nurmi who played Vampira, which I thought was so funny trying to sue Cassandra for “stealing” her look even though she openly admitted she stole it from Charles Addams cartoons that eventually became known as Morticia
Ugh...kinda ruined this movie with your leftist anti-american and very young takes on this movie. Elvira has always been about women empowerment by embracing her feminity not feminism, and she is a gay (non-neo-marxist alphabet that it is now) icon because she embraced her sexuality, was campy (which is historical for gays), and had a quick wit (which is also historical for gays). Elvira will always be an irreplaceable American and Gay Icon.
Man, the complainy comments on this video are hilarious!!! These people have no sense of humor and also no listening comprehension. You and Cara are a great team and I loved every minute of your reaction. You guys seem like so much fun to hang out with!
