i love your videos,I use 2 ro units at the same time,but one is set up like yours for excursions,sometimes no hose off the truck will work.Laguna has cliffs!
Thank you so much for this video. I was minutes away from deciding on which system to buy. I was eyeing the Xero pure. With your tips, I was able to fix one of these up with as much flow as I'll ever want, for $600 instead of $2399. I'm planning on putting together a parts list with a great RO membrane/filters/fittings to make this. I have a stainless steel housing like the Xero. I can't get below 003 though. We have 500+ TDS and I get 003 DI. At my friend's place with 220 TDS still only 003 after DI. Any ideas why this might be happening?
Hi! Thanks for the super helpful info as always. Digging you all-Gardiner setup as well. Can you describe how you cleaned out the old RO membrane with bleach and scrubbing? I just bought a used system and the RO seems shot, only churning out 55 ppm and looks a little brown... Thanks!
I also have 2 RO4040 housings whit membrane if I put a water softner DVA before it enters the carbon filter I think the ro membranes wil have a longer life span or is my thinking all wrong
At what temperature is it too cold and you do not use WFP? Do you have a line heater somewhere along this system when it gets too cold? I tried cleaning some windows in Northern Utah and the water was freezing immediately. I had to wait for the afternoon sun to do them by hand. I already did the huge system and really like it but I think that space saver and pliability of your system inspires me to do the next one myself.
Thanks for your question. I don't use a heater anymore as it's more trouble than it's worth in my opinion. I work down to -2, -3 Celcius pretty easily and even colder as long as the wind is not blowing to hard through the pole hose and I'm in the sun. The sun and the wind are huge factors. Smaller homemade systems can be more efficient, simpler to maintain, and even cheaper up front and long term.
Are you not going to use a DI vessel with resin to polish off the RO water to 000ppm? Pure water isn't pure water if its not zero. From what I can see you don't have enough flow, you'll spend longer trying to rinse
Yes, of course we use di. In reality you don't need it once you get to these lower level ppm's. For anything 5 stories and higher we use di because, as you mentioned, it will help speed up the rinsing process and offer more security.
