Heretek is the expansion to the critically acclaimed tactical turn-based Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus. Opening a whole new plot line, Heretek exposes the dark underbelly of the Adeptus Mechanicus faction like never before. Brand new narrative events have been handcrafted once again by Ben Counter, allowing players to uncover what has brought civil unrest to The Caestus Metalican during its campaign at Silva Tenebris. Take on frighteningly familiar foes, a cohort of heretek Tech-Priests that have changed their beliefs and forsaken the name of the Omnissiah. Can you, Magos Dominus Faustinius manage both an assault on the Necrons while being corrupted from within?
Features
New Discipline to utilise: Unlock the Xenarite. A discipline that is specialised in using xenotech, a largely forbidden practice for those that follow the Omnissiah! Plus all new augments for you to customise the appearance of your Tech-Priest.
5 new missions: Experience five new missions based in the Ark Mechanicus, each with a new delivery system for narrative. The choices you make will impact the battle for that mission.
New weapons to discover: Xeno-altered weapons open up devastating possibilities, coupled with support tech that opens up new play styles.
Two new Troops to command: Sicarian Infiltrators and Ruststalkers are now available to unlock. Pass through Necron and Heretek limbs alike with the Transonic Blades of the Ruststalker or take the stealthy route with the Infiltrators and spring an unexpected ambush.
New but familiar enemies to face: Face your fellow brother Tech-Priests in an internal conflict over Necron xenotech while also holding back the wakening of the Necrons.
New mission environment: Experience combat inside an Ark Mechanicus for the first time in Warhammer 40,000 history.

Man, I'm going after every type of heresy in 40k lately... It feels... GOOD!

I can see why the Mechanicus is less than tolerant about messing with Necron tech,as that's backfired on them many times. The Imperium has more than enough matters to deal with right now.

But... you know it's only a matter of time before the Mechanicus makes the Imperium's existence even harder, lol
@Rellana1

I don't see how they can make it harder as they've already awoken one Necron Dynasty that's rapidly expended to 90 star systems. if they did something equally stupid, I think the Imperium would give the Inquistion open license on the Mechanicus.

For those interested. The lore behind the Heretek essentially comes from the general philosophy of the AdMech. They believe that knowledge is already out there to find, that there is no sense in using or innovating new technology. It makes partial sense considering that the best tried-and-true technologies of the times of the Horus Heresy and beyond are still fully functioning able blueprints. There's also the potential that any new technology innovated was simply implanted thoughts by the work of Tzeentch, which having a daemon inadvertently guide your hand into making something new could cost millions of lives. There was also the issue where the Mechanicus had it's own civil war, Dark Mechanicum vs Mechanichus, where Horus promised the separatists full access to innovate...and the Dark Mechanichum actually won first.

1. You have a double-sided Heretek axe, can you show it? 2. Infiltrators are not junk-bots, they are actually a promotion (of sorts) for skitarii - if a skitarii heavily damaged, but considered worthy enough to not dissemble for parts - they are reconstructed as Infiltrators.
@Aurathas

Sure, I'll show it. I kinda skipped over it because I started the game with it and I'm not sure if it is actually part of the Heretek pack or not.

The Xenarite/Traditionalist conflict has always been perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Mechanicus, because for all their logic and reason, they're still heavily based on faith and religion, and like all religions, different interpretations are inevitable. The stories of Scaevola and Videx have already explored this somewhat, but I feel that this DLC is going to take things much further, and Faustinus will have to truly choose a side. And anyway, I agree with Xenarites. If your enemy has a better gun than you, why not use it against him?

I'm right there with you, as long as the weapon isn't actually turning you into a mutated traitor, use it against them or at least learn from it.

You have to start a new game. When you start a new game, there will be a check box that you can click that will enable the Heretek DLC.

@@lorenzoherreros6641 I just played through the game normally until everything else was done before starting on the Heretek stuff. As for getting it all done on time, there is a way to reset the awakening meter by editing your save file.

That's very true. Some are just pragmatic about technology and not heretics or traitors in the slightest.
