This is definitely one for the speed lovers , and not for those who love an original car.
Darren took this VH Vacationer and decided to use the best that the Aussie ford market could offer, the Barra 6 cyliner 4 L turbo XR6 engine! Yes thats right, its a Ford motor in a Holden.
But don't let that turn you off, because Darren has put this car together beautifully, with some fantastic original touches and mods that suit this build perfectly.
All driving was done in safety of road rules, accelerations and speeds are done with added sounds and editing. no road rules were broken during this filming. Any action filmed is taken on private roads

Bloody ripper of a car and unlike many hasnt gone for the fully sick useless 1500hp dyno figures! A great looking and usable beast!

Yes, exactly. The 'modest' 700hp means that he can still use a responsive fast spool turbo = much better driving on the street. The street surface can only handle so much power before the limits of adhesion are exceeded. 700hp means the original long stroke design, with great pre spool response, is retained.

What this project shows is how durable the first series Commodore was, and again it had to wait 8years for an engine worthy of the chassis.

It cost big money to get power from a barra or LS,it's more down to what Road you want to go down.ls sound way better then a barra.2jz embarrass them both but cost 3 times as much.

If you want a Falcon go buy one instead of stuffing around with bogan cars. An XD XE is not much heavier and has a proper suspension as well as brakes
@elfairmont40
@elfairmont40 2 года назад
Hahahaha you're kidding right? I love falcons but Holden updated their flagship car in 1978 Ford carried on the old chassis and subsequently was inferior. A 1978 VB has steering rack and pinion and coil spring rear. An XD falcon is a steering box and leaf spring you'd have to have rocks in your head to think that's better. Plus VB-VK are better looking cars but that's just opinion. Ford spent huge money developing e series and subsequently shit on commodores from the late 80s right though the 90s They were the better car. Felt 10 years newer to drive.

@@elfairmont40 you are right the ford falcon used the mustang floor pan right up to the late eighties leaf spring rear end out dated front suspension set up just watch dick Johnson driving Peters A9x Torana around Bathurst dick said I would have liked to have put Peter in one of my falcons to see how hard we had it
@nordic5490
@nordic5490 Год назад
@@elfairmont40 the commodore McPherson strut front end is a compromised design - selected on cost only. All race cars use the double wishbone (aka upper and lower control arm) design that all falcons have. I suspect gm also used the struts because the engine bay of the vb as it was too narrow to fit a v8 if double wishbones were used. The commodores are a much narrower car, even if the track with is very similar to the falcons. This is why falcons were used everywhere as taxis, and commodores were not. Fyi, leaf spring vs coils doesnt make much difference if the leafs are done right (eg teflon strips between the leafs). It is the solid rear axle that kills the mid corner bump compliance due to; the unsprung mass of the axle, and, the deflection of one wheel transferring that energy to the other via the axle, gives poor bumpy corner rear grip. Irs was introduced in the vp ...wiki "... became standard on Calais and Commodore SS models and became an optional extra on lower-end models. This new suspension drastically improving ride and handling over that offered by the live rear axle. ABS brakes were also introduced in the VP range as an option on Series 1 Calais and Commodore SS models, and on most models with IRS for Series II versions which launched in January 1993... " but... this was a poor semitrailing design, the toe in and camber changed drastically with ride height, a suspension design really not suited for a family car meant to be loaded up to go on holidays. The wiki " the AU was the first Falcon to offer IRS (a double wishbone design on an isolated subframe). "

In what alternative reality is a falcon any less bogan than a commodore
@nordic5490
@nordic5490 Год назад
@@gdawwg1125 Bogans are driving tradies utes now, with big tyres, lift kits, lights and bullbar. Driving a cheap reliable ex taxi just makes a lot of sense. What kind of pos do you drive mate ?
