Purity Ring - push pull 

I love how the triplets in the chorus were written to hit the up beat with the snare, and the bass on the down beat- when i listen with my eyes closed, it creates a "push pull" feeling in my brain. Genius

I love this, this is great, but it doesn't compare to any of their previous songs. Also sounds a little bit too "pop"-y for me - dare I say "taylor swift"-y. (inb4 mega hate thread)

Gosh, can't you guys just be excited for a new song? I don't get why people bash bands for changing a little. All songs cannot sound the same, or they would all be the same song... We all change, we all evolve. I think this is amazing.

I disagree with anyone who says this album was too “pop” or mainstream- sonically this album was more fresh and still had dark elements with dark lyricism. Give it a closer listen next time.

THOSE ARPEGGIATED TRIPLETS IN THE CHORUS MAKE THE SONG 30x BETTER

I don't know if this will resonate with anyone else, but my impression of this song is that it sounds like it was created for a movie soundtrack. It's like "Lights" by Phantogram. It's not bad, but it feels kind of uncharacteristic of the band. It has a sort of generic beat and rhythm to it, like it's made to play in the background of a sentimental movie scene, you know? On first listen, I was super disappointed, because I had such high expectations for whatever would come after Shrines. After a few more listens (with headphones. you really should use them, to fully feel and appreciate Corin's textured production and Megan's beautiful vocals) I came to enjoy it for what it is. The chorus especially is really powerful. Megan's lyrics are fantastic, as expected. Repeat listening in a relaxed setting with an open mind free of expectations will definitely result in the song creeping up in you, and not letting go ;)

Accidentally wandered upon this. Never heard this genre before. Magical, imaginative and haunting are words that come to mind with this group for me. "Begin Again" is another one that painted a perfect picture in my head of beauty in destruction. Well crafted.

There is truly no other band more unique and original than Purity Ring. No one could copy Corrin and Megan's sound if they tried.

"Its too pop" Apparently anything lighter sounding is pop. Why would you expect dark nearly witch-house tones in a brand new album? Artists need to branch out and evolve you filthy plebeians. The new album won't be Shrines 2.0

This song would be perfect for a movie - perhaps a scene where someone loves a person that does not feel the same way, or they 'dont even know they exist', and it plays as they watch the person they love, moving through life without them - everything moving on the screen in slow motion.... This band has definitely that "something special"

A lot more straightforward than anything on Shrines but if that'll help them blow up then good cause they deserve to. It's not like the old material disappears for it.

To say this is mainstream pop you have to equate it lyrically and musically to the pop toping the charts therefore those that say this have no hesitation when saying it rivals Miley And Megan Trainor both of which mainstream pop. But this is lyrically superior, basically sung poetry and is produced soo much more masterfully than something like we can't stop which fits the pop archetypes we all know. Sure this is more polished but its identifiable to purity rings sound. Ever think that these songs are indicative of a different emotion than shrines? This and begin again have a lighter theme more of hope rather than shrines and the ideas conveyed in that album.

I think they may be going in a lighter direction since shrines was full of dark, deeper songs. I definitely think they're experimenting with their sound and I am absolutely in LOVE with with this song! It sounds so fresh and new and I'm honestly just way more excited about the fact they're releasing new music!! Yes, it does sound different and dare I say "mainstream-ish" but that's not a bad thing because I feel like this song would appeal to more people which is great because Purity Ring deserves to gain more fans! I really look forward to what comes next!!!!

No good bands keep the same exact sound each album. That would be boring. This seems slightly different, but definitely still Purity Ring, and I really like it. First listen and I got goosebumps like 5 times lol. Excited to hear the rest of their new stuff.

Was going through a transition, and found this song. Not normally, i actually was going through brain wave, so the lyrics, as not always understood, i somehow did, somehow didnt, relate to it, in some strange telephatic way. No many out there would say the same, but i felt some connection with this. Its nice. I still feel for this music/art like a memory

FINALLY! New Purity Ring!!!

This sounds like a CHVRCHES-esque song infused with Taylor Swift's entries in 1989. I fell in love with the song immediately because it reminded me of CHVRCHES. My excitement with Get Away died down so this is my main jam now.

I love this. It's orignal Purity Ring, yes it's more "pop"py but it's not like they're selling out. they are expanding and discovering new sounds. I personally can't get enough. It has everything Shrines had and then some. They are nailing it.

This is good, and miles better than most of what you'll find in the charts right now, but I do feel it's a little more generic than the unique sounds you find in some of the songs on Shrines. But still, like I said I really do like this song, and I think it's one of those songs that I'll grow to love more and more in time. Very excited by the idea of a second album! :)
