I like the original pillow. Its low support keeps my spine aligned while side sleeping. And on my back, it keeps my chin from hitting my chest because of being too thick. Lastly it doesn’t contour as in deeply ( my face/head ) by sinking in too deep. I like soft, cool, and on top of/ not IN the pillow support. Simply put, for me its the purple elastic material pillow that works.
I’m the same! I actually ended up going with an Avocado Mattress with the Foam top. Then I purchased an addition 1.5 in latex foam pad from Amazon for a bit extra cushion. I love it so far.
I 100% agree I've spent so much money. I landed on a helix midnight and I love it but now I need a pillow which idk if I'll ever find one. I hope thos harmony is good.
Me too! It seems like those two sleeping styles are in total opposition, so I try to go with something with firm and soft components. As a student, as long as it meets those requirements, the cheaper the better.
I bought the harmony tall 7.5 inch. I am a side sleeper and it is NOT comfortable. It's is very soft and feels like I need 2 pillows to give me proper support. The curve on the pillow requires me to sleep higher on the pillow which digs into my neck and doesn't feel right. This pillows is going back.
I've never really priced pillows before so I don't know if $160 is a bunch for one pillow...but I'm thinking it might be for me. I do like the 100 day trial period though. I think this one would be to bouncy for me, but it's hard to tell without actually personally trying it out. Thanks for the review!
It definitely looks bouncy and breathable. I would probably pick the shorter 6.5" version. I like the fact that it never loses the shape. I am also glad to hear that I can wash the cover in washing machine, which is a must for me. Thank you for the review!
Have one of the original purple pillows. A little flat, and sits a little lower than I'm used to. I did adjust. If a pillow fight ever breaks out, grab this one as your weapon.
I have purchased 6 pillows this year until I found one that worked for me. Tired of buying cheap ones at Costco that broke down quick. I like the shape of the purple pillow but I found I needed firm down that gave me support but also let me bunch it up if needed
Loving the spandex stretchy pillow cover , the talalay latex , the choices for side sleeping on taller pillow , looks and sounds like a great pillow that doesnt lose its shape
After back surgery I was told to stop sleeping on my stomach so I have to sleep on my side and immediately my shoulders started hurting so I tried the 7.5 purple and it’s amazing. My shoulder pain is a lot better and the pillow is ridiculously comfortable but it does get warm compared to my My Pillow.
Hello I was looking at the harmony Purple pillow for a while and I was just wondering is it like sleeping on foam kind of and does it position your head like into to it? I have always leaned on getting a regular looking pillow like this purple harmony pillow I had a bad car accident in 2003 I was a pedestrian walking and got hit by an SUV unfortunately I had a TBI /Concussion and have a metal plate in my left hip because it got crushed, my spine my L4 and L5 of my lower back had to be fused. In 2009 from my accident. I regret getting my back fused every day of my life because I never had pain where my L4 and L5 where fractured but I was told by a back specialist it was still fractured so I had no other choice but to get my back fused because my boss at my ex- job told me I was liability I could no longer work there so I thought I had no other choice. But anyway I have a hard time finding the right foam pillow because it seems to always put stress on my fusion on my lower back and for some reason I the my TBI somehow came back to life last year I get pain in my head but it's not a headache. I was reading your review on the purple harmony pillow and seen you had back surgery I just wanted to know how or what you think of the harmony pillow? How is for your back and head? If you get back to me on your thoughts on the harmony pillow I would appreciate it on your thoughts how it is for you I know everyone is different But I need someone's opinion on this harmony pillow it is a big investment but I had to get a sleep number bed and I love it! Sorry for the long chat and thank you if you get back to me on this issue. Thanks, Amanda Herman
@@amandaherman after only a week I can say it is extremely supportive of my neck and keeps my spinal alignment perfect throughout the night. It is nothing like a dense foam pillow or anything for that matter. It is completely unique in how it feels. It is not extremely firm but firm enough to keep my head positioned where I need it to be. I have not woke up once to readjust it and my shoulder pain has subsided quite a bit. My only complaint is it does get a bit more warm than other pillows but not enough to change my mind about it. The money was my first concern but with 100 day guarantee I figured I would try it and so far I don't see me returning it.
Thanks for the recommendation! I got a couple pillows to compare during their trial period and the Purple Harmony has immediately joined the Saatva as top contender.
Thanks for another great review! I would like this pillow a lot but it is a bit out of my price range. I think it could be great for someone who doesn't sleep well because of an old pillow
Sounds great for all sleeping, I particularly like the cooling, breathable material- nothing worse than waking up w/a damp scalp... Would love to know if it'd improve my sleep over the 2 down/down alt pillows i use on my side. A bit out of my price range.
Still undecided on giving the Purple Harmony pillow a try, but since I have both an original and a plush, I decided to put the plush in the same case that the original came in, and it seems to be working for me (side sleeper). Just a suggestion in case the price tag seems steep.
Great video!!!! Made me think about the thicker pillow instead (same price). I currently have the original Purple pillow with the Purple 3 Mattress and I'm finding the pillow a bit too shallow after 2 years. I'm a back sleeper and wide shoulders like a football player so sounds like the 7.5" pillow will be better. It was YOUR channel's mattress reviews that convinced me to buy Purple. Thank you!
Oh wow these pillows sound so comfortable! Thinking I will look into the 7.5 being a side sleeper, plus sleeping cool with support is a must have, just have to keep it away from my pillow stealing kitties lol. Love the 100 night trial but the price... Ouch heh but seems well worth it ❤️ thank you for this in depth review!
I'm mainly a side sleeper but I sometimes roll to my back. I have serious shoulder and neck pain and have went through close to 3500$ in the past 5 years between 2 matresses (my new helix is much better) and 4-5 pillows and I've hated every pillow besides my old standard navy issue feather pillow that is wore out. I NEED A GOOD PILLOW SO BADLY! I am literally in pain 80% of the day to where I can't concentrate on things like I should be able to. Anyone who has had this pillow over 2 months, let me know how you like it please.
Hey Ryan! First of all, I heartily recommend you take advantage of the 100-night trial period that comes with this pillow. That gives you about three months to determine if it's worth the dough, and if it's the right fit for your body. Can you tell me a bit more about the other pillows you've tried and hated? We'll get to the bottom of this! In the meantime, you might want to check my Best Pillows for Neck Pain 2020 review on sleepopolis.com.
I had a brand new standard navy issue pillow that had heavy feathers in it. Even when I was a kid I loved thick heavy feather pillows. Over the years they broke down and I had shoulder pain. I tried a Zen bamboo ultra plush and it was terrible overall. Now I have the Tranzzquil hypo pillow and I like the loft when 1/5 of the filling was taken out but I sink through it at night. I bought a helix bed which I like and I bought pillows with it but those didn't have much support, I sunk in too much and they were a bit too hot for me. I never liked cotton or memory foam. I have never tried purple pillows but the original one did not look like it was a fun thing to use. I have tried numerous pillows I cant think of now. I think I will try that 100 day trial.
Update! After a couple weeks, I am still in love with my Harmony pillow! I even tossed out my old pillows just the other day when I knew it was a sure thing I was going to be keeping it. The ONLY problem I have is....that pillowcase. The purple pillow case tends to slowwwwwly slide off it during the night. : (
It might be my best one yet from Purple IMO. I love talalay latex and i would get the 7.5 “ loft as i tend to be a side sleeper. Thats pretty cool that it works for all sleeping positions. Now i really want one, looks super comfy. So many choices, so little money😖
Thanks for review, I'm always on lookout for a good pillow, having cervical issues and hardware fusion it's rather difficult, I've yet to find one searching 10 yrs
We like my purple 3 mattress. We got tempurpedic precision support pillows with shredded viscose foam inserts. I like them! Especially after gettin then buy one get one free. You ever try out the precision support tempurpedic pillow?
So blessed and cannot wait to give these pillows a try. thanks for the in-depth review... my only question is: do they come in various sizes? standard, queen and king? Also I see in the review that there are 2 heights.. one for stomach sleepers and one for side and back combo sleepers. Is that correct?
There are only two sizes - Standard and Tall. The dimensions are the same except for the loft. The Tall is 7.5” high and Standard is 6.5” high! ~ Sarah
Hey there! Will the Harmony or original pillow hold its shape more? My current pillow always gets squished between the head and head board. I’m trying to find a comfortable pillow that I won’t somehow disfigure in the middle of the night. :)
I’ve had my Purple mattress for 2 years now and still look forward to climbing into bed. Love this bed!! The first purple pillow was TERRIBLE! Hurt my neck because it was so slim. Bought the second and loved it for about a month. Now it’s just my travel pillow because it’s so ridiculously small (I got it on sale for like $50 by the way. So expensive for such a tiny pillow). Didn’t take long for it to lose its plushness. Don’t think I can make this plunge. Too risky for the price.
I have to original purple pillow I am thinking about getting the purple harmony cause there’s three cons for the original pillow it’s a little short and it’s hard and it’s not the same kind of shape of a regular pillow witch makes it slightly uncomfortable
I just got one for Christmas so I don't have the ouch of the cost but I can DEFINITELY vouch for the comfort, my neck has been stiff for the past 2 or so years and sleeping in this (on a couch cushion because I was having a Christmas sleep over) my neck isn't stiff any more.
Love the looks of these pillows...they sound amazing and perfect for me...i will have to look into them and learn more. I like that there are 2 choices for different sleep positions...great review and thank you for the info do you think they are worth the price?
Frankly, I think snoozing with the perfect pillow is priceless. That said, this is definitely on the pricier side, so I strongly encourage you to take advantage of the trial period to make sure it’s actually the best fit for you! ~ Sarah
I have tried solid memory foam, solid latex, a custom Pluto pillow and the Layla Kapok pillow. With the Pluto pillow my head sank through the soft outer layer to the inner core which felt hard. The latex & memory foam were so hard they gave me headaches. The Layla feels like a lump of clay, not plush at all like reviews describe. I think I may need to try foam or down alternative but am not sure. I am probably 40% side sleeper and 60% back sleeper (with the tops of my shoulders on the pillow when I’m on my back). I just need something soft. Can you make a recommendation?
I'm a back sleeper who has been sleeping on the original purple pillow (on a purple 3 hybrid mattress). I'm starting to feel that this pillow is too thin and I'm getting neck pain. Would the 7.5" Harmony pillow give me good neck support? Thanks.
I’m 5’11” and roughly 200 pounds with fairly broad shoulders. I’d say I’m primarily a side sleeper but do end up on back and stomach as well. I end up with a lot of neck and shoulder (traps mostly) pain. Do you think this pillow would work well for me or have a different recommendation? And If this one, tall or short? Thanks!
I sleep with one arm under and the other hugging the pillow on my stomach with one leg out and other straight. Would this work for this sleeping position?
I really like the density of the original purple pillow and I am in need of another but am considering the harmony pillow due to I sleep with another fluff pillow underneath it. My question being how thick is the material on the harmony. And would you think another original might be a better bet for me?
Hey Robert - Well, the first thing I have to note is that, ideally, you should only be sleeping with one pillow for your head and neck. I know a lot of people stack their pillows at night, but the perfect pillow should be able to support you all on its own. Secondly, which position do you sleep in? I found the Harmony to be really great for all-positions, whereas the Original was best for back sleeping. If you haven't already, I would definitely read my full written review of the Purple pillows in order to get the best sense of how they compare. Personally, I prefer the Harmony because you get that durable, Hyper-Elastic Polymer exterior, with the nice, bouncy latex core. But remember - the Original is way more dense than the Harmony!
just got one. My pillowcases are too narrow and restrict bounciness. Purchased a cooling comfort case by Brooksto at Bed Bath n Beyond. Works great. 6.5 is great. Sleep better
I'm so stuck on making the choice for a main sleep pillow. I'm a sidesleeper who lays on my back before falling asleep on my side. I'm 5'3" 142lbs. I'm trying to decide between the purple harmony, Saatva, or Eli n elm. I already have the layla kapok and like it at times. I wonder if the eli n elm is similar? Any suggestions?
Hey Danica, sure! Firstly, I suggest you check out my Best Sheets of 2020 review as I list some great options there. Off the top of my head, though, I can heartily recommend percale pillowcases from Brooklinen, Snowe, and Parachute Home. Happy shopping!
I usually use pillows with feather-like filling. I really like how it feels. Do you think the purpl harmony pillow will be a good fit? Thanks in advance
How much does the pillow compress? Does the 6" pillow compress to about 3" from the weight of your head? I have a Purple 3 bed and sink into it quite a bit so a full 6" would be too high. Thanks.
Hey there - yes, I’d say 3-inches is about right, but keep in mind that body type affects loft too. If you’re taller/heavier/have broad shoulders, it might compress lower than that. But I will say that the material itself is very bouncy and resilient!
Hey there - I've actually never tested the Miracle Bamboo pillow, but I know it's filled with shredded foam which is going to give it a very different feel than the Harmony. If you want to try a bouncier kind of support, the Harmony is a great way to go!
Hi Victor - The grid is actually built into the cover fabric, so there's no way to remove it (unless you want to sleep on the latex core by itself, which I don't recommend). That said, the grid in this pillow is pretty thin, and mostly serves as the structure of this pillow. It helps it maintain its shape, but doesn't feel thick or rubbery.
I just received my Purple Harmony pillow 6.5 and I find it too soft and I sink in more than I was expecting to. I’m side sleeper and suffer from neck and shoulder pain. Would the Purple Harmony 7.5 be any different? Or do you think this pillow altogether just isn’t for me?
Hmm, I'm not sure an inch would make enough of a difference here. I think you might want to go with something firmer altogether (memory foam might be a better option for you). Take some time to peruse my Best Pillows for Neck Pain review, and take a look at the Layla Kapok pillow as well as the Birch Living pillow!
Sleepopolis thank you! I actually watched that video and it’s what lead me to order the Harmony pillow. The Layla was my second choice. I’ll look into it!
Hey Michael -- If you're looking specifically for a Purple pillow, the Original starts at about $99. If you're just looking for something that's similar to the Purple Harmony, I'd go with the Talalay Latex Pillow from Brooklyn Bedding (about $89). Happy shopping!
This Harmony Pillow does not have the same material as the original anywhere in the pillow. The cover is just a cover. The hex grid cover is the company deceptively deceiving the public into thinking it is the same as the original but it has a latex foam core not the Purple Grid.
