Pursuit/MC Crash AR-157/AR-258 White County Arkansas State Police Troop B, Traffic Series Ep. 1006 

B-25's incident report: "On 06/10/2024, at approximately 11:33 P.M., I, Trooper Vrooman, was traveling south on Arkansas Highway 367 just north of Arkansas Highway 385. About this time, I overheard Lieutenant Seiders with the White County Sheriff’s Department advise that he was in pursuit of a motorcycle traveling north on Arkansas Highway 385 from the area of Arkansas Highway 13. Lieutenant Seiders observed the motorcycle to not have a license plate and attempted a traffic stop. The operator of the motorcycle, who was later identified as Mr. Alex Everetts, began to flee at high speeds. Lieutenant Seiders described Everetts to be traveling at speeds varying from 40-90 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone. Lieutenant Seiderrs described Everetts to be driving left of center, with occasional light traffic. Lieutenant Seiders stated that Everetts disregarded the stop sign at Arkansas Highways 385 and 157 and continued through the intersection at speeds of approximately 75 miles per hour. I caught up with Lieutenant Seiders and Everetts near Arkansas Highways 157 and 258. Here, Lieutenant Seiders requested for me to take over the pursuit and I did. I advised Troop B Dispatch that I was in pursuit of a white male, with a gray shirt and blue jeans (Everetts) on a black motorcycle with no license plate. I advised Troop B dispatch that we were traveling north on Arkansas Highway 157. When I took over the pursuit, we were traveling at approximately 95 miles per hour. I took over the pursuit at approximately 11:38 PM. As we were approaching the Providence area, I observed no traffic on the roadway and began to drive to the left of Everetts so he could see who I was and that I was attempting to stop him. It became evident to Everetts that he knew who I was once I was to his left because he continued to try and evade me even though his motorcycle was having difficulties performing. Everetts looked at me multiple times but did not display any weapons. I attempted to move Everetts closer to the fog line by moving my vehicle slightly to the right in a safe and controlled manner. I did this in an attempt to safely get Everetts to stop. Everetts continued to evade by heading north on Arkansas Highway 157. I was able to get in front of Everetts, while Lieutenant Seiders was behind him, and we attempted to stop the motorcycle. Everetts was able to drive around me on my left side and continued north on Arkansas Highway 157. During this time, Everetts continued to drive recklessly by driving into the oncoming lane of traffic and exceeding the speed limit that was posted at 55 miles per hour. Everetts continued at speeds varying from 40 miles per hour to 99 miles per hour. While Everetts continued to fail to yield to my emergency equipment, I knew we were quickly approaching a steep “S” curve just north of Dripping Springs Road on Arkansas Highway 157. Surprisingly, Everetts was able to slow down for the curve but I was unable to discern if or when he was on his brakes due to his brake light being ineffective and not shining a bright red when applied as required by Arkansas state law. As we negotiated the curves, I was behind Everetts. At some point, Everetts lost speed and I touched the back tire of his motorcycle with the front bumper area of my wrap-around bumper. This took place at approximately 58 miles per hour and was not purposeful. After this occurred, Everetts began to wobble but continued to evade me. Everetts threw his left hand up multiple times and I was thinking he might be pulling over, but was wrong. Everetts continued to drive recklessly into the oncoming traffic lane well above the posted speed limit. During this time, light traffic was present but quickly subsided. As we were on Arkansas Highway 157, just south of Boyce Road, I drove along the left side of Everetts once more and attempted to get him to slow down and stop by slightly moving to the right in a controlled and safe manner. While doing so, Everetts avoided me by driving off the roadway to the right and into the grass. Everetts attempted to drive back onto the roadway but began to lose control. While doing so, Everetts struck the right front area of the wrap-around bumper on my vehicle. This caused Everetts to lose control and fall onto the ground. Everetts then quickly got up off the ground without hesitation and began to flee on foot to the east towards a woodline. Both Lieutenant Seiders and I exited our patrol vehicles and gave chase. We chased Everetts approximately 50 yards before he gave up and was placed into custody without further incident. Everetts complained about arm, leg, and other body pain. The only injuries officers could see at the time were a small scrape on his elbow and back. An ambulance was called to treat Everetts. Everetts was then transported by Northstar EMS to Unity Hospital in Searcy to be evaluated and was then released. White County Deputies stayed with Everetts during this time and transported him to the White County Jail where he was booked on his charges. Before being transported, Everetts stated post Miranda that he had a suspended license and did not want his motorcycle taken. Brooks Wrecker Service was called to take possession of the motorcycle. I then cleared the scene, and this concluded my involvement. Everetts was given misdemeanor tickets for: 27-16-303 - DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED LICENSE 27-20-104 - MOTORCYCLE - RIDING WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLASSES 27-20-106 - MOTORCYCLE - RIDING WITHOUT OPERATORS LICENSE 27-22-104 - NO LIABILITY INSURANCE 27-14-304 - DRIVING VEHICLE WITHOUT TAGS 27-50-302 - SPEEDING MORE THAN 15 MPH OVER LIMIT 27-50-308 - RECKLESS DRIVING - 1ST 27-51-301 - DRIVING LEFT OF CENTER 27-51-901 - FAIL TO YIELD TO EMERGENCY VEHICLE 5-54-125 - FLEEING - ON FOOT Everetts misdemeanor court date was set for 08/01/2024 at 1:30 PM in White County District Court - Searcy. Everetts sole felony violation in which he was given was for: 5-54-125 - FLEEING - VEHICLE OR CONVEYANCE - EXCEEDING THE SPEED LIMIT Everetts felony court date was set for 08/13/2024 at 9:00 AM in White County Circuit Court - Searcy."

Outstanding pursuit by both LEOS and successful termination by the Trooper. This dummy would not have run on foot if he had any severe injuries. He thought it would be easier on him if he cried injury. STAY SAFE OUT THERE ALL LEOS.

The rider was signaling Trooper Vrooman to follow him to the scene of the accident. Funny the way his bike seemed to max out at 81 mph, despite his gear changes. It was obviously made for looks, not performance. The average 250cc motorcycle top speed is 80-110 mph, a Suzuki GSX-R125 would smoke his clown bike at 85 miles per hour.

Not sure I've ever seen a slower bike....

I'm all for stopping a pursuit but doing this with vehicle against a motorcycle at 80 m.p.h. is truly deadly force. Yeah the guy shouldn't run and if he wrecks on his own then he owns it but bumping them at high speeds should be off the table.
