This actually tells you the kind of world we live in. Nobody wants results (success) the hard way. Had it been a video of some fancy new protein shake, I am pretty sure it would have fetched more views and likes. Sad but the ugly truth.

"Train to a feeling of exertion" This quote is why I've subscribed to your channel. You recognise, respect and appreciate the varying fitness levels of your viewer base. Rather than telling us to do X amount of sets and reps which for some may work well but for others not so much... Well said and thanks for the quality content!

I always struggle with this excercise the most - thanks for the in-depth explanation :) Too many other people on YT fly through their explanations and don't teach anything worth remembering. You would make an excellent model for acupuncture students to find the merdian points, because you can see all the muscles and tendons under your skin. It's more difficult to locate points when there is a layer of fat hiding the bodies natural form.

I sprained my wrist a few weeks ago and still can't do anything but fist pushups without pain. Don't know if you recommend wrist straps for these in this case but I'm hoping I can use this to help me progress. I've got like 20 quarantine pounds to shed!

Awesome Adam! The perfect “fine-tuning” video for this exercise while many of us are still working-out from home while the gym is closed. Now it’s time to perfect it! Thanks for the inspiration. BTW... Should we still be planking if our primary focus is on push-ups now?
@musicalsoullishi

I started that way and i think if you reach 1.5 min. Hold in straight hand plank it will help you Coz in my case it did helped . It has been a month When i started i could not perform even one pushup But now i can do 10 in a go.

@adorable3817

Plus, gym is expensive. Mostly people drive there in their car... gas, wear and tear, environmental aspects - minimal, but still. Nothing about going to a gym makes sense. It's just gross.
@adorable3817
@adorable3817 4 года назад
Sorry 🙈 ...didn't mean for this to turn into an anti-gym rant. I just don't get it. Or maybe it's just the word association. Going to Church implies good moral Christian. Going to the gym implies healthy. I haven't seen anyone at the gym that looks as good as Adam. They just pump their arms and suff their mouths with nasty meat 🤮

Hi Adam. I got injured st work some time ago. As a result I really have lost so much strength it's unreal. I found I can no longer do push ups at all. I like the way you break things down into parts, negative and positive. I have started doing what you suggest. It's not easy but I am going to persevere. Hopefully I can get back to something like I used to be. Today is day 1 for me. Great tutorials! Keep up the great work! Steve

I started doing push ups with literally 0.5 reps. Like I was so weak and fat I could not get a single down and up cycle done even once. So I would lay down on my belly and push myself upwards, once. Every 1-2 minutes I would to that for half an hour. Basically 30x0.5 reps lmao. I improved a lot to 30 in a couple of months. Human body is honestly amazing.

You are a gem. I'm so glad i found you cuz this is really a great help for me who sucks at push-up real bad. I'm applying for Army in the Philippines and push-up is where I have great difficulty in performing cuz everything just hurts and not the "burn" type of hurt but the type where it's like you've pulled a muscle or something and sometimes I have neck cramps so bad I can't workout for days. I ended up leaving push-up for good. I tried the things you're doing in the video and surprisingly I feel ok. No pulled muscle or anything. Now I wanna try my luck again and hopefully get really good at this..

Good video. But, I completely disagree with your view on shoulder retraction. Imo, the shoulders should stay packed, and the lats tight. That does not mean a weak scapula...the scapula is a bone. You're finishing with scared cat back, which indicates a loss of full body tightness at the top of the rep.

Great video and the sole purpose of subscribing is how you mentioned how to breathe during this exercise. Ever since I started bodyweight exercises which was during jr high and high school I've been breathing that way when doing push-ups, fast forward during the rise of YT and YTers everyone's been saying exhale on the way down and inhale on the way up. But I've gotten used to doing the opposite that I thought I had to relearn how to breathe during pushups so thank you again for mentioning this. I really felt like I was the odd one for a while 😕.....

Thanks for the tips, esp the breathing. I have limited shoulder/chest mobility so I can't go all the way down to touch my chest to the floor. While I can do a pushup midway down with my hands on the ground, I find that I can't do so when I am holding a dumbell when doing manmakers. So frustrating!!
@hannahmccaffrey9754
@hannahmccaffrey9754 4 года назад
I disagree with a few things in your video. First is how your elbows come out. Your elbows should be tight to the body. Second, lats should be engaged. Third, you claim in a bench press your core isn't engaged nor your legs. That's false! Your core should definitely be engaged, back arched and legs driving into the ground for a good proper bench press!

Great video, even better instruction. I think it would help beginners if you gave them some type of specific loading parameters so they can get started. In your opinion, what is the optimal number of sets for a beginner to do in the pushup for a week? What rep range is ideal? What about volume and loading for the plank variations you showed? Granted everyone is different and people are starting from different places, but it is hard to figure out exactly where you should be unless you have a starting point to judge from.
