*Pusher trilogy spoilers* Tony’s character was so interesting to me. In the first Pusher movie he appeared like your typical ignorant and kinda fun junkie then in the second Pusher movie when the whole movie was about him my perspective changed about his character. Tony was the side character in Pusher I and many of his actions were non understandable but Pusher II told his story and we got to know that why he’s the way he is. Despite trying to act hard and joining criminal activities Tony was haunted by his past, and this fact was pretty obvious in the scenes with his father, whenever he was with his father he was still a kid trying to make his father proud but in his figure’s eyes he was never enough. His father was a criminal himself but would act like a saint for Tony and wouldn’t lose a chance to mock his son, he would leave Tony for a stranger when he was trying in his own way to reconnect with his father, I think this father and son dynamic explains the behavior that we saw from Tony in Pusher I when he was the one who would take all the beatings and stuff. Mads Mikkelsen did a great job at portraying this character too, the way he cried during his last conversation with his father was just too real, you could feel it through the screen that he couldn’t take it anymore, and the tragedy finally happened. In my opinion Tony wasn’t like the people around him, for example the scene in the party were he goes to the bathroom staring at himself into the mirror while drinking was his breaking point were he realized that the people around him don’t care about him and he doesn’t fit in their crew, later on the movie we feel the same vibe during the after party scene with his baby, ex girlfriend and her friend. So in the end he left everything behind and took his baby with him so maybe his child won’t end up being a person like him by growing up in that environment but who knows maybe he’ll become even something worse than Tony. Tony’s ending was bittersweet, on one hand he was a man without nothing in a true mood of instability and on the other hand he finally broke free and was ready to change and unlike his father he didn’t leave his child behind.
