Might just be me but the flash looks too white for an explosion? I'd bet an old school powder flash (from the very old cameras with flash pans) would give this method a run for its money. It could create the burn marks on the floor at the same time too.
It's weird that nobody talks about the sock within the 2319 joke since it's also a joke about losing your other sock. Now we know where the lost half of your pair of socks are, they are in a different dimension filled with monsters that use the power of children's screams to power their machines.
Actually a steel plate that 1 to 2 inches thick will do the trick. And you can use a small amount of gunpowder to create a better effect than what you did with the charcoal powder. And having a slight gap between the plate and floor will also create those unique scorch marks. Also you can also coat a sock into Nitroglycerin to create Guncotton which would also work for that effect as well as destroy the sock as if it’s been vaporized and the chard remains can be vacuumed up.
I think most people who work on film would agree that if an effect can be achieved without explosives, it should be. Also nitroglycerin is stupidly unstable, and insanely excessive for this use case lmaooo
@@ClashForYou the more price efficient one is absolutely not the one using real explosives??? Idk where you got the idea that explosives are cheap, or the safety requirements surrounding them. Explosive experts cost a lot too. Idk why you said « actually, no » then literally agreed with me
@@datb0013he legit said a little bit of gunpowder. Not a high explosive it would be very cheap and look good as well. And if you think gunpowder is to expensive just make your push black powder witch is even cheaper
i’ve still always wondered how they blew up the sock, no c4 or nothing seen slid under the dome, just the dome itself. maybe the dome comes repacked with explosives? also monsters inc had one strong floor if the CEA could blow up a sock with no damage done
Honestly really good tutorial. People don't realize what it takes to make the most basic of effects. You'd probably get someone thinking they can use software or a small firecracker to Jerry rig the same conditions (which risks breaking the props making them one time use)
This is so close to being good! If you destroy the sock, the debris is going to be where the sock was, not in a perfect outline around it. It's like seeing an artist draw a Warrior holding their weapon with two left hands. It's good work, but small mistakes ruin the whole thing for people who pay attention :(
😂 best movie scene ever This gives me an idea for a monsters, Inc, live action movie remake, but it has to be made through through the original the exactly the same movie with the same scene and the same characters and forget about force diversity just make it exactly how it was
Fun fact: (2319) Which if you take the twenty-third letter which is [W] and the nineteenth letter which is [S]. [WS] Is short for white sock. Did you know that?
Keep everything except sprinkling the powder on top of the sock. You want the effect of the sock being turned to ash so having an outline like that doesn't make any sense. Just pick up the sock, pour a small pile of powder, and lightly brush it outward keeping some of the pile intact
I mean, it's very plausible. The bowl would likely be thicker though maybe half an inch thick, and as for an explosive maybe very small amounts of tannerite could be used since it isn't as powerful as C4. And the floor looks like concrete or heavy tile which can easily be resealed from the holes from the approximately 2 inch bolts keeping the dome on the floor. I'd say this can be done.
That's the way they filmed the scene back then One of the extras in Yellow custom give the idea Practical effects are always better than Special effects
Damn... That does make sense. Maybe they kept their jobs. I mean they surely got a ton of information off of Boo Sulley and Mike's interaction. They likely can now detect any rogue children in the monster world easier and can return them home before they get lost in this world, acting as a form of security. The last thing Sulley and Mike need as the new owners and executives of the factory is more children escaping unintentionally or maliciously, so it's better to keep them. Even Rozz was intent on keeping children safe.
@@kosakukawajiri5007 They didn't seem to work for Monster's Inc. though, they always came from outside and since they went martial law on the city they are more likely a government public institution. I do agree that they'd be turned into more of a security gig but they'd hardly need that much man or rather monster power anymore so there probably were tons of layoffs during the same time the company explained things to the government and did a full work direction change.
