Thank you for an excellent analysis of Putin's WWII propaganda. One of the unfortunate ways this plays to a Western audience, is that it allows the people who buy into Putin's nonsense to justifying it as, "he is just a Russian patriot".

I do not quite see the point in this video as it does not convey new insights. I must assume that the canonized memory of WWII is one of the few common denominators of the peoples of the Russian Federation or at least large portions of them. No wonder the regime make use of this memory. It includes both pride and fear which are the essential reasons for rallying around the flag - as long as the heating works and Rubles are rolling in. Why people are not willing to admit they see the hypocrisy behind it all and decide to get along with, that is the question that must be answered. It sheds an extremely bad light on the Russian elites.
