Vicki Wade sat down with Take Heart films to speak on the importance of putting culture at the centre of care when caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with rheumatic heart disease.
"It's really important that culture is seen as a powerful enabler. I think if people understand the culture of the people they are caring for, there'll be better health outcomes. At RHDAustralia our mission is to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This is really important for us, so much so that we've embedded culture in our clinical guidelines, the first time a clinical guideline has integrated culture within evidence-based medical guidelines," said Vicki.
