Putting One in the Bridle 

Iv done a little of those angle videos but they are still in the editing stage. Im sure glad to maybe open a few eyes about the spade bit. Your support means a lot to me.

Right? Most any bit can be torture in the wrong hands. On the flip side, a rider with good hands/feel can ride a horse with wire in mouth and never hurt the horse. Appreciate the talk about the messed up bars on this mare and how that informs bit decision. Too many don't take into account individual horses anatomy when selecting a bit.

Those Gay bar kings could be tough to be around but dang they made nice sticks. Im sure proud of that little mare. E-mail me if you wanna talk shop about bits and angles.

She is pretty. I have had my eye on her for a while.

Like I say in the video, she is really broke but had never been ridden in a spade or a two rein outfit. I was confident because I know the horse but I would say most any broke ranch horse can be put in the spade in a very short time.

I learned the bigger diameters are El Bosolito and the smaller La Bosalita. Just how I learned it doesn't make it correct. I catch heck for aglising things but most of my early schooling in this style of horsemanship was in Spanish. I have also worked with Mexican Vaqueros from several different parts of the country and heard it pronounced differently, the same goes for the time I spent in South America and Spain. In Argentina we called a halter Una Bosal. Point is it all depends on your accent.

Majinny is what it's called, named after Sam Majinny. Im not sure about the spelling but any research on the internet I have tried has come up with a little info on Sam and none on the bit. What I know about the bit and Sam comes from old men that knew him when he was an old man. The bit that brooks brothers makes in there cowboy collection is pretty close but not quite. Rod Tuessuer made both of mine and has the pattern off the original. He won't build them for just anybody he quizzes a guy first. What I like about his bits is they come already broke in, a lot of bit makers build them so tight it takes ten years to make them feel right.

Grijava is the name of the one I was using. By factory made I mean semi production as he is also a custom maker. I think they go for around $600. The Brooks "cowboy collection" are production built and very good. I am not sure on the cost.@@thiesenteam

well I would love to sit down and spell out all the why's and what for's but that would be a little much for a RU-vid response. I will sit down and do a video explaining a bunch of that if you please and maybe that will help. Its a new Grajava not an old one. I have had a few old ones I didn't like. I bought this one in Magdalina.

As far as I know there are no books or videos about it. I am working on both a book and have done a few videos that are yet to be edited. Everything I know is from talking to old masters and trial and error with horses. Keep watching we will have more on the subject in the future
