Thanks Bill! Yup that seems to be the consensus, a great option for specific applications. Good to know about the open pour as well, thanks!

Great test. Most of my shaky heads I simply paint black and then do a epoxy clear coat I may very well look into this product I would like to see that craw hand pour in the future.

Thanks man! Def worth a look, they have some good black options as well. Simple, fast, and effective - pretty nice trio for stuff like shakey head jigs. Gotcha on the hand-pour too, thx!

Just wonder how it would affect the sound of a chatter bait type application. Looks to be more of a vinyl than a paint.
@SDGCustomLurecraft
@SDGCustomLurecraft 2 года назад
Valid point Harold, I bet it would dampen the sound a bit. Probably not the best option for that application. Good thought, and thanks for the feedback!

Looks like a durable paint. I watched a video using stardust to paint spinner baits, it painted the baits with ease!! Thanks for the durability test, I wondered how it would hold up under real fishing conditions. It passed the test!! Thanks Adam for sharing!!

My pleasure James, thanks for the feedback! Yup, interesting stuff. Definitely a time-saver since it doesn’t require curing and the durability is for real. Good to have in the arsenal!
@HawgRed
@HawgRed 6 месяцев назад
Cool! can you layer this over regular protec or protec layered over this? If i did layer/combine them on the same jig would I be able to cure in the oven? Thank you - appreciate your videos.
@SDGCustomLurecraft
@SDGCustomLurecraft 6 месяцев назад
Glad you enjoyed the video! Stardust over ProTec, I don’t see why not as you can heat the head sufficiently. Of course, you could overheat it and have issues with the protec, but that’s avoidable as it doesn’t take a ton of heat to work the Stardust. The other way around… I would not, no. That would not be pretty - could be a real nightmare. Also, no curing with this stuff (other than cooling down). It’s definitely not made to be in the oven after application… again, real potential disaster. Hope this helps!

Yes would love to see the pour on the craw. I have the paint but have not had the chance to use yet. One of the video I watched said to trim around eye of hooks with razor and it would peel right off. Did you try that
@SDGCustomLurecraft
@SDGCustomLurecraft 2 года назад
Thanks for the feedback on the craw! I did not try the razor blade method as I didn't need to with the heat shrink. I'm sure it would work well - Dan (smalljaw) used that method and it worked well for him. Either way, I think you're good to go!

That was AWESOME!!!! I discovered with really small heads you have to paint them and let them cool for a bit before smoothing the paint out with more heat. It seems to need alot of heat to really smooth the paint out. I'm definitely using it for shaky heads and heavy football jigs and arky style heads. Well done Adam, great demo!!! BTW, what size heat shrink tubing are you using?? I tried that before and I think I was using too small of a size as it was a pain to get on.
@SDGCustomLurecraft
@SDGCustomLurecraft 2 года назад
Hey Dan, good advice! Much like Pro-Tec is seems like white and no-flake “green pumpkin”-ish colors want to clump more than the fancier ones with the variegated colors… but who knows! I too can see me using it in a number of instances, especially “plain” jig heads just made for plastics. The heat shrink is 1/8 (or 3mm) for 3/0+ eyes (although, once I get to oversized 5/0 and certainly 6/0+, the hole is big enough the paint never closes the eye, so I don’t bother). For 2/0 and down, 3/32 is the ticket. It really worked perfectly for this application in particular! Thanks again my friend!

Thanks Robert! I don't know specifically, but I'm about 99.9% sure it cannot. The particles are FAR too large for that application.

so, i been using it for few months , and testing it . heat gun is better and dipping it water is waist of time and some times leaves stains . with heat gun i heat it till its glass like finish and then air cool it on a rack and will never chip

Have you tried the clear over regular powder paint? wondering if it would increase durability
@SDGCustomLurecraft
@SDGCustomLurecraft 2 года назад
Good question Steve. I have… sort of :). I used to finish all my head with UV Blast, which was a clear top coat with a UV additive. I found it changed the base colors too much so I stopped using it. Can’t say I’ve seen any dramatic change in durability skipping that step, and in fact… generally speaking, the thinner the coat the better (hence the use of a fluid bed), so adding another layer of clear may or may not actually hinder the durability vs improve it. Be an interesting experiment - who knows!?

Man, I was a wreck putting those on!! It didn’t help that the camera was in front of me so I’m bent over in a weird angle, trying to keep it in frame, but hold onto tiny things… LOL! What a disaster… and yet, they stayed on! Go figure. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I mentioned a tip in another video that I pour my larger jigs one at a time,quickly cut the sprue off,tap the head on a flap piece of steel to flatten where the sprue was,and dip real fast.It creates a very thin coat,which powder should be so not to become brittle and chip.This has to be done real quick so the jig doesn't have much more time to cool than what it did the second or two it was in the mold.It can also coat the hook eye with no cleaning needed.This process sounds slow but it's actually worked out to save time,you don't have to reheat and then dip the jig to paint it and you don't have to clean the eye.Maybe one downside of this process is you'll rub off a good bit of the powder if you use the stand up racks,but hanging them by the hook with that very thin coat doesn't have them forming bumps of paint though. What I forgot to mention in that video was it also leaves a lot of the detail viewable,I have the 1/2-1.5oz Ultra minnow mold and can see most if not all the detail (except on the heavier/thicker paints) when done that way.I know it isn't going to help with this stuff but with your regular powders it will. IDK if you have to drive very far to test them,but retrieving them across the asphalt works really good for testing.When landing it also adds a shock about comparable to getting a lil snagged in rocks and will chip it if the paints going to chip.

Oh Lawd those remelt open pours look good. Thanks for the review, seen the stardust around but never an indepth video on it till now. Way thicker than I imagined but as you said there's certain jigs that it's just fine for. Given that it's a little rubbery I wonder if pro-cure would adhere any better or worse than on powder or straight lead... Ah and who makes that shrimp mold? Looks good. Any other good shrimp molds you know of that are kind of 'saltwater' style? Thanks
@SDGCustomLurecraft
@SDGCustomLurecraft 2 года назад
Thanks man! Love those craws too! If they don’t sell soon I’ll find a home for them in my own box! LOL The Speed Shrimp is by Epic - fantastic mold! It was designed for salt water, but when I see/fish it it’s a perfect Ned rig bait - extremely effective! Thanks again man!

I think it looks better on jigs that have no detail and do not have molded collars or bait keepers. The paint looked clumpy there. But its always nice to have other options. Not sure I would call that White Camo, but I do like the design after the cure. You could really get fancy there.
@SDGCustomLurecraft
@SDGCustomLurecraft 2 года назад
100% on all accounts, I was wondering where “white camo” came from too!? LOL. Nonetheless, it’s a cool color - that one and the weedy camo were stand-outs to me. Thanks for the feedback man!
