In 1967 I was in Germany, US Army, 66 transportation co. K,Town. I bought a new 67 Beetle,1600, US model, for $1,287.00 US dollars. Shipped it home. They were selling for 1,999.00 then. Traded it in on a 66 Chevy SS. thanks for the memories. Barry Blauvelt
Bleche-white is a godsend I used it on my front tire which is about 30 years old (white wall barely visible dark brown/black) and you spray that stuff on there and after 3 times over it was back to its like new white wall style.
I really like the job your doing, About 25 yrs ago I had a 69 westfallia and it was awesome! If you haven't had one you need to get one (pre 71, the tail lights are cooler) really cool
looking sharp. runs good? glad to see others are putting up their resto vids too! I'm sure if you tried, you could have gotten your wife to help sand, haha. We had fun sanding, but then it started to get old, lol. Keep these buses alive guys!
Cool, I've heard, that what my uncle got when he got his bus, just as insurance. He has a 67 11 window. First VW I ever drove, First manual I ever drove...
Great job... I know this is an old video mustie1 but hopefully you get this message. I'll tell you what works excellent it's not cheap 4 year old window seals anything like that rubber grommets to hold tail lights in. Is get Hot Shine by Meguiars and just spray it on it let it sit for about 24 hours and shoot it again let it sit for about twenty-four hours and I mean it'll make them like brand new. It's amazing.
Wow, I'm hopefully going to pick upa 66 splitty, its an 11 window. It was made in the late 70's. My dads old dune buggy club new the guy who built it. This the WAS NICE! He jacked it up, put jackman wheels all the way around and took out the flat 4 put in a corvair engine, It was a westy, but I think he modified the inside. My uncle found it down in the sticks, and the guy baught it for the engine, has a 1600 dual port now. Thinking he will let us have it for 600 bucks. body is well, meh...
Wow you did a fantastic job on the Bus. Love the color. Just amazed how something Rusty crispy looking turns out like brand new! Mustie. You and Jason are the best!!! Do you sell a lot of what you fix up??? Thank You!!
@harveybacon I did the drive train first then the body , so it runs drives stops , but will still need a good shake down when its first driven, and theres no way she would wet sand, but that might be a good thing, thanks for warchin,,,
Thanks, we got it, 800 bucks. What are some sites for patch panels? I've been to Mid America Motor works, and Mill Supply. I haven't found a sight with green panels though. Except the samba and it was a junkyard... Any websites with cheap panels would be a great help, Its not going to be a concours resto so they don't have to be perfect...
+Mustie1 it's a 1979...I'm not sold on any of the colours for that year though, unfortunately. I think this colour looks so easy on the eyes and classy....just what I'm looking for. Great vid btw!!
+Heather McArthur thanks, yeah the bay colors are not as deep as the early ones, l do like some of the bay yellows, little miss sunshine, but yellow is either you love it or hate it
Woah, under 3 grand? and you only have 2200 in it as buying it, and paint+ ect parts, one question, and excuse my language, but just how fucked was this bus for you to get it SO cheap? I keep my eye on The Samba, and craigslist for bus's and never seen a good one for a grand! hell not even 2 grand!
