Great vid and I get your point totally. Thanks for getting back. I tend to miss on the high side rather than giving the makeable putts a chance...

What I'd like to know is how do we adjust for direction of grain and is there a way to judge green speeds when we don't have a stemp meter.

I factor in speed ...I find the initial start of the putt's roll is straighter than the final roll out...also looking at the direction the grass blades lay is a big consideration for me

Practice, it is the only thing that will help with putting. Also always playing the same course helps. I do not so I need all the help I can get, thanks for the lesson.

Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "golf training machine" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Graysonyon Putter Prolific - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin got great success with it.

Interesting explanation, but how does the speed of the putt come into play with respect to the apex point?

Almost all tip on putting is about reading the break. What about putter speed? How to judge the putter speed for one putt birdie?

I find in some cases, that on public courses, some of the greens are in such poor shape with some bare spots, some sporadic weeds, etc. that all the green reading in the world is pretty much useless. This doesn't happen too often. But sometimes two or three greens in a course may be in poor condition.

Isn't it better to miss low and have an uphill putt? Rather than the opposite and then three putt because of the obvious... Thanks.

Hi Charlie, the video was really just to explain a little of the geometry behind green reading. The stats show us that more golfers miss putts low, I believe it is partly due to the resins explained in this video. My intention was just to help golfers pick the correct amount of break on their putts.

I think you are too ambitious to make one putt on this hole. PGA average is 50% for 8 ft. The hole you are working on is 15 feet at least with massive breaks. This hole even for best PGA players is likely two putts. For holes like this, power is more important. You want to get the first putt close to the hole, then first it with 2nd putt with ease.

Just awful, as he never came close to sinking it and he lives on the course!!!! Just more made up superficial junk to hear themselves talk and yet they seem to never be able to do it. I wish I could turn in a score card with talking points too but talk means nothing in this game.

dumb comment, ANY golfer knows that the ones that count are from within 5 feet, beyond that you want to get it near the hole, most of the time when someone lands a long putt is basically luck, even for pros, but nobody can physically or mentally know exactly how to land the putt
