@@djoshawott2850 They changed it to the title of the game itself, "Puyo Puyo". But obviously the bit-crushed voice actress doesn't sound anything like that
The voices make the English arcade game worthwhile. GAAAAOOOOH! But really, I get the feeling that Sega came up with Mean Bean Machine so that they and everyone else could try to forget that this translation ever happened.
@@spacepuyoboi5238 You can never erase the corniness when it comes to translating japanese; either you try to keep the context as close as to the original meaning and it gets corny, or you create an entirely different context that's less corny.
I don't think the translations are too bad. Typos aside, a lot of these lines are things I could realistically see these characters saying back in the day when they were a bit more serious. Those voices tho lmao
@@scroogemcfuck8110 For what it's worth, the new release is the missing pieces of the puzzle that we asked "is this legitimate?" I, for one, would enjoy seeing and hearing the reaction to the original translation when this releases.
[5:02-5:20] Panotty's intro in _Puyo Puyo (1992)_ essentially sums up how narcissistic people act on social media whenever they are criticised. (DeviantArt, Instagram, etc.)...
@@AnimatedGalaxy it's not quite the levels of the Japanese version but it's still ok, Dongurigaeru, Onion Pixy, Feli, Carbuncle and Sig are keeping this dub away from greatness.
You haven't heard anything until you hear Super Monkey Ball Jr spanish voices.Preparado? Ir! Objetivo! Caida! It's all so weird for spanish speakers like me!
i find it surprising that SEGA has reused almost all the same sounds, music, and puyos for every next puyo puyo game, and heck, the classic puyo look even made it as a style for puyos in puyo puyo tetris.
You can see the characters and what they’ve become! I think there was Draco, Suketoudara, schezo, rulue, and the dark prince. You’ve also got Arle and carbuncle but that’s the obvious part
This arcade version including the awkward English translation is available to buy on the switch. Which means doubt on this being a legit arcade cabinet is obsolete
Kevin Davis Yeah, but Sega have recently stated they have plans to bring Puyo Puyo Chronicle if it receives enough attention in the West. It will possibly be digital-only, though.
When I first started watching this video I was like "This guy suck at this game!". But later I'm like "Holy crap! This guy is really good at this game!".
I have been looking for this game for a very long time. All I can remember was "anime tetris". I believe the PS1 version was the one I'm remembering specifically.
Every Comment Sections doesn't understand how Original (and awesome) this Game was, While Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche (i've never played this game to be honest) are just a clones version of Puyo Puyo.
Holy crap, watching this made me realise just how lazy SEGA was in making Mean Bean Machine. Didn't even bother with a background change in the later levels, and the music for the later stages in this game is the fucking game over music in MBM. I do like that they used the final level music in Sonic Mania for that one round of Puyo Puyo.
