There's some utterly wild and wonderful sounds in the Malevolent. A fantastic first synth, entry into the semi modular and then modular worlds or simply just a great synth voices and set of functions to add to an exist modular synth. Love it.

14 minutes into a review of a modular synth (it says it on the front panel...) and Jack still hasn't broken out the patch cables. That says this product has a nice core sound. It has a lot of depth (Roland), a nasty-but-melodic filter (Korg) and all manner of modern wildness (Arturia?). Yes, there are lots of *very* expensive pedals in the chain but, just like guitars, the core tone always comes through, and this sounds excellent. Good price point, too - above Behringer's monosynths (which are great), but below the boutique stuff. Had never heard of this product before but I'm impressed, and I can see the Andertons team are having fun with it. Good demo!

Love it! It has a MS-20 on steroids type aggression to it. Great playing too from everyone. The guy with the awesome hair was playing something that already sounded like part of a thriller movie scene score running through those UA pedals.

I've been thinking about getting the Malevolent since I saw it at Superbooth last year. I was still on the fence until I saw this video. Jack's face when he cranked the drive up and swept the filter sold me on it.

Before this , I'd seen a few reviews of this synth . None of them really grabbed me at all . Jack and the lads made it sound seriously Malevolent

I love the synth (and bought one) but don’t sugar-coat the keybed. It is decidedly not a performance instrument. But a clue to that is also the fact there are no presets. It is not a BS2. It is a sound-design/studio machine. And it’s glorious.

Minilogue XD is a super nice synth, with great effects and a cool digital oscillator. Keep in mind this Malevolent only has 1 voice and the XD has 4. So that means no chords on the Malevolent, but tonneesssss of power and character.

The posts are there, what I did say is that Behringer said there might be some technical issues, what you went ahead and did was discount any possibility of technical issues whilst calling out Behringer and their bad ethics regarding where their factory is but still buy their gear. I mean if you're going to lie, at least put some effort into it.

In the beginning of video how much of that sound is the pedals? Its stunning and would be sad to order and have nothing like this sound because it was pedal x y zed doing it. That is a 1000 pounds worth of pedals attached. Basically would love that sound, can you share the formula including pedal settings so someone could order the whole package or sim out effects with other pedals

Short answer. A lot. But it won’t sound good at the end of the fx if the synth going in didn’t have something in the first place. For me all synths come alive when the Fx are added. Some sing. Some don’t.

Given that Behringer posted on FB that there could be technical issues with the cam's mic causing possible phase issues, I would not discount the UB Xa by calling it a *pos* till this is ruled out.

@@dankeplace I mean, it's not like Andertons have been doing these videos for years without any similar issues or anything. The only other demos of the UBXa have been layered to hell and covered in effects. I don't hold out any confidence for it sounding good.

It’s paraphonic. I use a korg sq-64 and send note data to each osc. You need a VCA module however if you want to play both oscillators fully independent of the keyboard gate.

They say “they can take the hate” but oddly I have seen nothing in response to the Behringer, it lit up their social media. Would be optimum to respond and redo the demo. Sub-optimum to ignore

Everyone seems to be assuming that they somehow messed it up, but if all their other synth vids sound fine it implies that it's the actual hardware, not their video. Of course if the hardware was faulty, then re-do the video. Otherwise just accept that it's a video of a synth that sounds a lot worse than we were hoping it would (me very much included)

@@ComposerMichaelDow On the new Synth King demo the UBXa sounded very good. Either Anderton screwed up or the one they had for the demo had a problem. How you can do the video, edit, upload it without reflecting for one sec that something is wrong, is really beyond my understanding. But of course, that won't stop B haters.
