Obi, our little baby Pygmy Hippo ventured out with mum, Petre, for a swim in the big pool for the first time. The name Obi means heart in the Nigerian Igbo language, and he is certainly melting a few hearts here at Melbourne Zoo :)
I remember many years ago at Edinburgh zoo I got tickets for my girlfriend, my sister and her husband to see the baby pigmy hippo. We all waited at the designated area when the staff announced it was coming out and, after a twenty minute wait, a tiny hippo appeared, everyone went 'AAAAWWWWWWWW 🥰' it was very cute I must admit. But it was the mummy hippo we all saw first, the little water potato baby came in about ten seconds later when everyone just finished their 'awwwww' so everyone went even more crazy with a super duper 'AAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩'' and I nearly went deaf. I swear the baby hippo was enjoying every second and the mummy hippo was very proud. It was one of the most magical moments in my life because it was such a positive, beautiful energy given by everyone there. People were helping each other to see the little hippo family 🙂🙏
I love they way they move their ears so fast, like a spring! 😁 Imagine how it would look on humans! -"Wait, are you lying to me?!" -"How did you find out?" -"Your left ear!" -"Oh, not the ears again! I've must glue them to my head!"👂
That was fantastic to watch! Very good footage and adorable baby hippo. His beady, curious eyes peeking from the water is just so cute! Thank you for the Zen of natural sounds, birds, water, hippos, no human talk and NO MUSIC, WHAT JOY!
Lol, I know right? I clicked it because I was trying to find a video on baby hippos to show a friend, but she asks why the heck this video has 8.2M views.
Yes, but it’s a Pygmy hippo, so it’s not as terrifying when it tried to kill you. But yeah regular hippos are freakin terrifying, those adorable lips hide freakin massive tusks and the fact that they will eat meat is also not helpful.
@@JohnSmith-sk7cg Semantics. Mosquitoes don't kill people, the diseases they carry do. The difference is semantic, but it's always a good idea to make sure you're not technically wrong before offering a correction 😉
Awww, Obi is so very cute 🥰 he is adorable and precious little baby. It melts your heart just watching this beautiful baby hippo with his Mom swimming…..I feel like hugging and kissing him if given the opportunity, so very delightful indeed. God bless Obi always with health and a long life as well as his Mama too. It is awesome they are together. Love the video it is absolutely lovely and wonderful. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🥰😘😍👍👍🙌🙌🙏🙏
I actually "met" a baby Pygmy Hippo in a wildlife reserve in South Africa. The baby came scampering out from a shaded area right in front of me. It took me a few seconds to realise that this miniature battleship was indeed an animal. Just then, his mother came out of the shadows in front us and the little battleship nuzzled it's way into feeding position. Just like a human baby, the satisfied Hippo calf was ready for a nap - right in the middle of the path! Mama Hippo however had a better idea and gradually nudged the baby's bum off the path into a clump of high grass and the two settled in for an afternoon kip. Such encounters are privileged moments of Grace, each one a unique and indelible memory. Bless the Beasts. 😇
Hippos look like they should be sweet and cuddly. I just want to pick this baby up and snuggle it. And then I remember that mommy hippo wouldn't be super sweet about that at all. 😂
I KNOW!! Animals should have limits to the amount of adorableness they can display because how lethal it is for humans to witness. This is why heart attacks are the number 1 killing cause because cute animals like that kill us with their cuteness.
@@teuilaleota4589 You continued Neil L comment, didn't you:-) HA HA HAHAHA: SO TRUE, SO TRUE!!! The most lucid comment I've seen for a long time, Congrats!
The "normal" big Hippos are, but Pygmy Hippos only are Pig-Size and generally avoid Humans. They can be kept in Zoos with nothing but a small Chicken Wire Fence separating them from Visitors.
@@epikorange5983 The big and dangerous common Species of Hippos that everybody knows. Pygmy Hippos are a completely different Species and I included that "normal" to avoid Confusion. Many People don't know about Pygmy Hippos at all, as they've only been discovered about 180 Years ago and there still isn't much known about them because they are very rarely observed in the Wild.
I love how hippos just walk at the bottom of the water, it's hilarious. Imagine if humans couldn't swim but still went to the pool and just walked at the bottom.
Lol Jokes aside this is easy for me. I'm used to all the isolation by playing a bunch of video games. If you or anyone reading this is struggling, try some video games :) Some recommendations: -Witcher 3 &Skyrim -Star wars Knights of the Old Republic
You know there are videos that precede your RU-vid account and there will always be more contemporary videos that the space for advertisement/suggestions. It doesn't even have anything to do with the algorithm in the first place, what is funny about this "joke"? Now I get why we don't get good comedies anymore
pygmy potato baby: * *gracefully floats in water* * me, a human trash: * *frantically flapping my arms and legs as an attempt to avoid death by drowning* *
@holy rice Front Stroke Breast Stroke Side Stroke ... if my head, my face even, goes under the water... Just picture a humanoid elephant seal trapped, face down in too shallow water, the muffled gurgling sounds of panic, the intense noisy flip flopping as it attempts to turn onto its back and somehow creating a whirlpool in the process. Floating on my back whilst moving my arms and legs to resemble a backstroke. This, I can do! 😤 Just a humanoid version of an elephant seal floating on its back and rotating its arm and leg (flippers) to just about manage to pitter-patter pitter-patter on surface of the water... Nothing to see here.
@Karl Desmeules the world has always had access to videos like this. Something simple such as this I think incites deeper feelings in a time when we're shown how fleeting life is, how quickly and easily it can be gone. Maybe it's the universe evening the odds. Or a god(s) reminder that we're only visitors here. This little baby is happy just being. In a world we're destroying. This is the content we need now. It was for fun before, now it's a necessity
This is so adorable. This tiny cute head with the lil cute face looking out of the water and then the way its kickinh trough the water is just precious.
