I have 2000 Accord with 233,000 miles. It has a F23A1 engine. Transmission was rebuilt at 140,000 miles due to lack of previous owners not performing regular service. It’s too bad Honda fixed the engine oil change interval at 6,000 miles on the 1.5T engine. We couldn’t change the service reminder. At our shop, we’re attaching at oil reminder stickers. We’re replacing the engine oil 4,000 miles on all turbocharged engines. In addition, we’re advising them to flush their cooling systems at 40,000 miles.
I can answer question 3: bought my Si brand new in 2012. K24 engine. Currently has 215,000, original clutch. Basic maintenance , just replaced a bunch of front end stuff. It ain’t pretty, she burns oil bad, but she keeps on keepin on . I told myself when I bought it I’d keep it until 250k, never expecting to really reach that goal but it’s becoming a reality . The problem is that repairs are starting to cost more than it’s worth . But , it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned . Also congrats on 25k subs . I remember when you had less than 1000 .
Have you heard of dealers installing the KARR alarm system without consent? I just bought a brand new Si, and i told them i didnt want ANY accessories. I just noticed this maybe a month later (2 wks ago) and i youtubed it. Apparently a lot of dealers do this, or install a gps tracking device. Now i have to remove it and solder back together the main power wire that they cut from the factory harness
Hello, May i ask if you will do a 10 speed 2023 up pilot transmission drain and fill? Also instead of following manual, would it be OK to measure what came out and put that amount back in as an acceptable practice? Thanks!! keep up great work!!
I have a 23 Honda Pilot and I haven’t been driving it that much. Why does my oil life percentage keeps dropping even though I’m not driving it much. It went down 30% from the last oil change and I only put 200 miles on since then. Yes, I am going to start driving it a lot more. I just been driving my CR-V and my RLX mostly.
Maintenance minder on new Hondas takes time into consideration as well. It is programmed to have you change the oil once a year regardless of mileage. This is why. Now oil doesn’t actually degrade that fast, but if you want to maintain your factory warranty you do need to change it regardless when it says. Plus you will get free oil changes for 2 years 24k anyway with your 2023.
@@BCautosolutions The code for the engine is R18Z4 which is a Vti-l. The transmission is stated as a sports transmission. 5 speed auto I don't know much about cars sorry. Considering as a first car!
@@dezzaano5712 the r18 is reliable as a whole. The 5 speed transmissions from Honda generally speaking are solid. Change the fluid every 30k miles (convert that into km) and should treat you well.
Could you compare the head gasket issues from the D17 (1.7l) engines in the 2001-2005 civics to the current 1.5T problems? Is the 1.5T better or worse (as far as blowing head gaskets) or is it just comparing apples to oranges?
I have a follow-up question on the 2025 Pilot. What are your thoughts on installing a VCM muzzler or similar devices that suppress the VCM on the V6 engine? Is it a good idea?
I have a '21 accord 1.5T paid off, I hit 30k miles last week and it is garage kept for most of it's life as I now work remote and it became strictly a grocery getter. My goal for this car was to last me around 7-10 years, 100-120k miles. I do drive "spiritedly" in sport mode but I rarely gun it from a dig, or floor it. Do you think it's better for me to trade it in for something more reliable or wait and see if I start experiencing symptoms of the head gasket problem before trading it? Edit: I just got it serviced at 30k, they recommended a trans flush, brake fluid, and oil change and quoted me at $450. I refused and did the oil change only. After watching your other videos, I am contemplating doing the trans flush myself and I will get the brake fluid flushed once I put on a new set of tires in around 3-5k more miles as I am down to the last 4" of tread from the factory tires.
That’s entirely up to you. At this point I would keep it considering the rates and prices of new cars are ridiculous, unless you can get top dollar for it.
@@BCautosolutions Agreed. MSRP on this was $29.9k and since I went with Lease-to-buy, all in all I was out $36k out for the car. It worked out as I was in the process of buying a house at the time and was a little cash poor so the time of the lease gave me room to save up. I got a trade-in offer last May for $22k so realistically I'm looking at another $10k out the door for any sort of upgrades. If the gasket repair costs roughly $6k I'll just hope Honda does something right by then and reimburses, or I am one of the lucky ones that don't experience this issue. I am babying the car from now. Thank you for sharing your experiences and insight
I bought a used 2021 accord lx with 24k miles. Had I known about the head gasket issue… So what about driving strictly in Econ mode along with 91+ octane? Any data or personal observations? My understanding is that in Econ mode, turbo is not being used. Wondering if that would extend the life of the small 1.5t.
I wanted to know your thoughts on the open intercooler on current gen TLX? I've recently seen mesh grille inserts available and wondering if it's worth adding to protect from debris? I have mostly highway miles and have noticed some damage in the past 2 years on mine. Thanks!
Can you share your opinion on the new Honda Pilot? Is it reliable? Any issues with the VCM? I am thinking of trading in my Honda Accord with it's famous 1.5T engine but want something reliable. As always thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I truly enjoy your videos. 😊
Some issues here and there but surprisingly doing well. I have a 1 year review on it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PN10vNTBsyM.htmlsi=nNa2hvQjyez9xYO2 If you have a follow up questions lmk.
I'm hearing 1.5t cvt units are discontinued. Is this true? So many 1.5t are still on the road. I'd rather pay for a new unit than a dubious used one. I love my civic and don't want to dump it.
03 element 5spd mt. Driving down frwy, I decelerated and after accelerating It just started reving, with gear in place, while mph going down to 10mph. I park, after awhile, it's works like normal again. Later it does it again. As I pull to an exit, gears go in, but won't go not even in reverse. Has a whining sound in neutral and while accelerating. Checked again and it goes away when I press clutch.
Even If you Have no Warrenty on the 1.5T Honda Accord 2018 Sport. and you put a new Head gaskit in and ARP Head Bolts, Honda will not fix any recalls If they know you put Head Bolts in, ?, and would it be better to just trade it in and get a 2.0t or are those having Issues too ?. Thank You for your channel.
I have a 2014 accord four cylinder with 140 k miles Debating on selling it are there issues I should look out for around this mileage or should I keep it? The tensioner does rattle on cold start, but someone told me a bit of VTC actuator so I’m not sure
Timing chain tensioner replacement is pretty common on the four cylinder engine. Suggest going to driveaccord forum, 9th generation for more information and TSB outlining procedures. Starter and ABS module failure also are common issues.
hard to find this on Honda website. Is the Civic Hatchback Sport the only model with a non-turbo engine and manual? It looks to be a 2.0 engine. Is this the most reliable engine you spoke of in the video?
Civic Hatchback LX and Sport, and Civic Sedan LX and Sport have the 2.0L. If you do a build on Honda’s website, you can see what gets what (or at least infer it).
Not the same engine, the new Atkinson engine is direct injected. They are replacing the k20C2 with the Atkinson for 2025. Also dropping the manual for sport hatch😢.
@@g-low9812 Hey, thanks! I’ve been trying to find specs on the Civic/Accord Hybrid powertrain to see if it's the same 2.0L but with Atkinson cycle (is that even possible?), but haven’t been able to.
Hi everyone. I'm experiencing slight hesitation when accelerating on 2024 Sport Sedan. When accelerating from a red light to about 20-25mph at 1200 rpm I noticed like the car is shuddering little bit. The car has about 2,000 from factory. Has anyone experienced this? Thank you in advance
A quick question if anybody knows if the Civic Type R hood fit on a Civic SI. I know it's the same car, but maybe the type r is a little different? Thank you very much
