In my case, I think it's okay take a rest if you needed, but still keep doing the soft things that good your body, like going for a walk in the morning to have better sleep and do mobility. I recently, started the gym like less than a week a ago and I gotta say, I'm discovering new about my body, about my dangerous mindset and positive mindsets.

David i had a back injury , and i know wath to do to come back to lift heavy : For 2 to 3 months i did Spine Higiene + McGill Big 3 , and avoided sitting more than 5 minutes and avoided lifting things . After that i desensibilised my back and i got pain free .after that i start reintroducing weight ,i go from compresion to shear on the spine : Hex bar deadlift from blocs>Hex bar deadlift floor>Sumo blocks>Sumo floor>Conventional blocs>Conventional floor And for squat : Bulgarian squat>Globet squat>Front squat>back squat In conclusion every person with back injuries needs good movement patterns trough the day (hip hinge) and Core stability/Core stiffness 🏋🏻‍♂️🤙🏻🎸

I stood in the mirror last night, attempting to convinve myself why I shouldn't go to the gym for almost 30minutes... zoned out from being so tired of going.... I'm 39, been at this since I was 13. Those moments ALWAYS come. Everytime I tell myself in the end "This is the point those who never make it give up" ..."Will this be the point I began to give up?" that shit motivates me back on my feet and refreshes that passion for it everytime. It's consistency and discipline. Maintaining the two takes a bit of self-actualization. Great vlog David!

It's the curse of being young. Natural tess is flowing, training with friends and lifting too heavy of weight way too soon, and afraid of being called a pussy if you don't go after or fail at a PR. The feeling of mortality fades the pain begins but you keep going because you know better and than will just work itself out. An old timer at my gym once told me that the young you needs to train for the old you. Less ego and more brains.

@AutumnalPark0001

Many points here: 1. if you lack the normal curve in your lumbar spine, then your pelvis could not have been tilted forwards. So your practitioners have been working on an incorrect diagnosis..perhaps that is why their treatment regime failed. Anterior Pelvic Tilt is highly OVER-DIAGNOSED, especially in the USA. 2. The MRI results will rarely indicate why your back is painful. It will, more than likely, exclude things that are wrong. From the results listed, there are no major pathologies in your back. Based on those results alone, it would be difficult to state the exact reason you have lower back pain. How much can the lower back "heal"? Well, if there is no specific damage, what is there to "heal"? Why wouldn't you get back to a pain-free status???? 3. There are most definitely NOT 18 things wrong with your back!! Many "findings" are normal findings on scans or are not indicative of something being "wrong". Bulging discs are not unusual findings, a "swollen" disc maybe, if that is what it said. Arthrosis is any type of change, but was it in the central joints or in the facet joints? 4. A loss of lumbar curve (lordosis) would indicate a back that is STIFF and may lack the normal flexibility required for squat and deadlift. 5. Looking at your squat technique, there is a load of lumbar flexion and the bar travels FORWARDS as it descends, which would indicate a fault in your squat technique which would load your lower back. 5. Your old deadlifts showed a very rounded back, not great technique!! Possibly there was some strain/sprain during that time and your "train through pain" phase. 6. What is required now? I would suggest that it is NOT treating your for anterior pelvic tilt! And not more spinal manipulation. Flexibility to get the lumbar curve restored. Rebuild your squat technique. Check for any muscle strength/length imbalances. Remember, a "tight" muscle is often a "weak" muscle. Gradually increase your working load once technique is drilled down. But also don't wrap yourself in cotton wool!

Advice is on-point dude. Motivation is a luxurious feeling. People who succeed and get shit done don't succeed because they are always "motivated". They succeed because they decide what they need to do and then do it.

I feel you on the dedication part. In high school, I would always have friends to come with me to the gym, and then I'll meet new people and I bring them and watch them grow. But now that I'm in college, all that drive and desire from them have turned to other things such as parties and alcohol. And it's painfully irritating to hear them reminisce about how great they were in high school when there is still so much potential.

hey man don’t get depressed about your back, i know heavy deadlifts and squats are your main thing, but remember you have an impressive physique already and you can maintain it with alternatives for those heavy lifts, as long as theres tension and you target the muscle without compensating with your back you’ll be fine man

I’m a chiropractor and would like to disagree with the ones telling you that your hips are rolled forward is counter to what your MRI results are stating. With an anterior pelvic tilt as they were stating you had, your low back’s natural lordotic curve would be increased. However if your losing your lordosis (per the MRI) that is reason to believe that you actually have a posterior pelvic tilt. Meaning that you are losing the range of motion of lumbar extension and are favoring too much flexion. Therefor to fix that you want to focus on things that promote your natural lumbar lordosis and put you in extension in the low back. On top of checking out Allec’s recommendation of Stewart McGill, look into McKenzie extension exercises for the low back. If you do them correctly with focus you will help put the extension into each lumbar segment while pushing your discs anteriorly. Therefore helping the irritation you’re getting from the posterior disc bulges. Flexion will elaborate them... inducing extension will reduce them, give you better mobility which in turn would prevent you from recurring flexion-based posterior disc derangements. Best of luck! FYI I think that the “hips rolled forward” explanation is so commonly used among doctors and physical therapists because it is a fact that the majority of the population has an increased lordotic curve with anterior pelvic tilt with only a minority having the opposite. I’m very familiar with this because I have the same predisposition that you do mechanically. very flat spine with decreased lordosis in the lumbar spine and decreased kyphosis in the thoracic spine for that matter, with a posterior pelvic tilt. In school the far majority of techniques that were taught were based on flexion injuries that occur with the increased lordosis, and so many of my classmates preferred these treatments when getting adjusted. It took a lot of education and exploring to have me realize that I’m in the minority. You are as well. Please look into McKenzie Directional Technique!
@AutumnalPark0001
@AutumnalPark0001 4 года назад
You will note it was the diagnosis of Chiropractors not Physical Therapists. It does seem to be a rampant diagnosis in the USA. I disagree that the majority of the population has an increased curve, and I believe the science does too.

I don’t know if you’ll ever get to read this but it might still be helpfull. I have one fully herniated disc and a bulging disc in my lumbar region and another thoracic bulging disc. It took me 4 years to get back into working out after my “injury”(it could have been a lot less time if I had found the right people to help me from the beginning). I still have to understand how hard I can push myself every day but at least now I can say that I found balance. I feel like this tipe of injury is very personal and requires a lot of experimentation to understand what helps you and what not. But it’s still possible to keep lifting while having this kind of problem, I would have loved to have someone telling me this when I completely stopped going to the gym because everyone was telling me so. I really hope you’ll find the way to keep your training sustainable. Good luck

Highly recommend that you check out stewart mcgill and brian caroll about your lower back. If your discs are bulging posterior focus on maintaining a nuetral lower back and avoid flexion. Yoga might actually be detrimental if the positions require flexion or twisting which further pushes those discs outwards. Alot of world-class powerliters have suffered worse back injuries but have fully regained their strength/are symptom free.

I’m a chiropractor and agree with Allen 100%. The ones telling you that your hips are rolled forward is counter to what your MRI results are stating.

I hate how he's so bummed out by the MRI results. You could probably scan 100 persons who are symptom free and half of them would have some kind of "pathology" down there. It doesn't mean a whole lot in a significant amount of cases.

Deadlifting and squatting isn’t the only way to get big boys. Remember that. Spinal discs hardly heal, if at all. Be careful.

I don't know if you'll see this comment but I have suffered low back pain and I understand what you're going through. I herniated 2 discs and had 1 bulging disc. Take time for recovery and I'll tell you, you can 100% make a full recovery I did it after 9 months of therapy. I am now powerlifting with absolute no bottleneck so don't lose hope. P.S. 135lbs conventional deadlifts with absolute perfect form 5x10 2x a week was probably the best form of therapy I was doing. I got best results off that I hope you make a good recovery.

Sucks bro I broke my hand last year and it was the worst feeling not being able to train injuries are an unexpected and can be debilitating to your morale. Keep your head up and you’ll push through and be an even better athlete on the other side. Just think where you’ll be in one year from now. I’m sure you know training is long term and recovery is just a part of that process.
