Q&A with Asha: Where and how should I adjust my inline skate frames after moving to 125mm wheels?

My apologies for the delay in posting this video from February 2023 in Perth.
Sometimes I drown in footage and things get lost.
This video replies to Ella's question about how to move the position of the frame and know you've done it correctly.
In this video I talk about how many skaters move their frames inwards in order to correct their inside edge pronation (on one or both skates). Many skaters moving up to larger 110 and 125mm wheels experience some inside edge pronation and fix this by moving their frame. I warn against this before doing other things first.
There is a LOT of discussions on the frame moving topic online. I see people having trouble with comfortable outside edges who want to move their frame position to fix their inability to find "consciously control of their edges."
Lack of correct technique, in my opinion is the cause of MOST edging & gliding issues. For example so many skaters struggle with learning the T-stop and cannot control their support skate (front skate in the T) which tends to 'fall' onto the inside edge. This lack of edge control in T-stops is THE REASON why 90% of skaters cannot slide to a complete stop from a T-slide.
Hope this helps. If you want more actual drills, exercises and movements that will help you control your edges, check out the Learn Online tab at Skatefresh.com, or read a summary of each online course below and test a class today!

Agree with this. I’d go as far as saying that it’d be good if companies stopped giving the option to adjust frame position.

I think having the option is good but it should be for rare circumstances and not to compensate for incorrect technique and inability to control your own edges consciously with knee bend. It's such a prevalent habit for some....

Thanks. This is a touchy subject as sooooooo many people on RU-vid are recommending moving frames all the time and I've seen people get themselves very stuck with frames in completely different places on both feet and then 'weird' hip sticking out to compensate etc etc. Start with the technique first, then adjust your equipment, not the other way around.

Hi. 아샤. I have 3 wheels in each skate. Power slide Argon. A Middle wheel springs out a little bit. So I stand using only 2 wheels when I stop. Is it a normal feeling? Comparing other skates.

I've looked up the Powerslide Argon skate but I don't see anywhere that it is on purpose a rockered frame (this means that all wheels do not touch the ground at once and create instead a curved effect of fewer wheels touching the ground). So I assume that your situation of having a larger wheel in the middle of your 3 was caused spontaneously by accident? Please confirm that this is the case. If so, I don't think it's the best set up as 3 wheels will give you more stability if they are all touching the ground at once. But please confirm so I know the exact situation.

By default, if we are talking the argon 100... It comes with 83a wheels.they are really soft and it is normal for them to wear sometimes in a rocketed fashion. Replace the wheels. If you are okay with it, I would take this time to clean and lube your bearings since you have to take them out of the old wheels and put them in the new ones. Unless you just buy new bearings also.
