I believe Michael Jackson was still alive when this came out in 2O08.Its off of Q Tip The Renaissance album...Michael Jackson died a year later on June 25,2009
@@brazbeby4045 and he knew Q-Tip pretty well cause of Janet and Michael did allow the Ummah to do a Remix for his History Song, check it out what a dope beat they made
I love Tip's experimentation during the 2000's. And I had NO CLUE this beat was by Dilla, no wonder it's so wild. It manages to sound retro, modern, and wayyy ahead of its time all at once. I suppose that would be the formula for timeless, so... makes sense. Much love to all of you ❤
My man did the beat. Played it for his homeboy DJ Gloss One who brought over Jay Dee that day (this was about 2002). This was one of the beats he played for them. A few yrs. later ... this comes out 😏
@Ahmad Sakallah That guy is a schizoid, Dilla made this in 2004 when he was living with common in Los Angeles, this is from his breakbeat and more obvious chopping period, the beat is on the tape below, and it is full of similar sounding beats with a lot of vocal chopping. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-adU8DzfqKHw.html
Q-Tip is a greater hip hop artist than all of those you mentioned. I like Eminem, Biggie and Pac, but ain't no way their discography can touch Q-Tip's. About Lil Wayne and Kanye, I'ma just assume you're a troll wanting to see hip hop heads mad. Smh.
This was the jam when it came out and still is. If memory serves me right there was a second half to this song on the album that was dope too! Long Live Tip and ATCQ!!!
this is the shit Q-Tip never fails plus I like The Mike Jackson tribute [i.e the Rock Wit You 2010 video and the sampling of Dancing Machine] true artist...a real rapper Q-Tip..............
Yes, this song was well ahead of its time. The whole album, id argue. I feel rap should have went this direction, like Q-TIP and Kayne, but it ended up being uninspired sexual garbage like ASAP Rocky, Post Malone and every single mumble rapper.
This came out the same year 808s and heartbreak relessdd which shook the genre. This album is timeless it sounds like it’s from the 90s buts it’s still groovy to the modern day. Hip hop keeps changing and evolving
Cody Snow Gotcha - he was talking about the video, not the audio - I was assuming the reference was made to the music not the visual effects. I see what your saying - thanks
Such a timeless sounding song with such a crazy sample fr. Can’t stop listening. A very groovy, hard track. I haven’t really checked out J Dilla’s stuff, but knowing he produced this, I gotta get to that. Such a genius fr. As always Q-Tip came through too. Absolutely glided over this beat. I also like how he paid tribute to the Rock With You music video. R.I.P. both MJ nd J Dilla man….
I just came across this song and this gets my vote as one of the top five rap songs ever! Q-Tip sealed himself as the GOAT with this song and video at the 2:03 mark the same way Derrick May did in his Derrick May @ Sektor 909 video on RU-vid. I love me some LL Cool J and Rakim still. Thanks for posting this masterpiece!
