Both drop away rests and whisker biscuit rests have their place in bow hunting, and most of it comes down to personal preference. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.
Both rests will keep your arrow in place, but with a drop away rest, you may get a few more feet per second, and your rest will stay in tune with your arrows flying straight longer.
Pick the one that's right for you, and get to practicing.

I shoot 1" groups with either rest, but only drop away rests have failed me causing me to lose deer. So I stick with the most reliable rest on the market, the one that requires practically zero tuning & maintenance and the one that easily renewed every 1/2 a decade for 20 bucks with new brushes; A whisker biscuit. No deer is going to jump at a -2fps difference up to 40 yards. The difference isn't even noticeable on a typical 300fp bow set-up until it reaches 95 yards. Whoever's missing deer with a whisker biscuit has a problem with their shooting, not with the rest.

Agree with you. I don’t think you can go wrong with either style of rest, and it comes down to personal preference and what you’re most confident with. Thanks for watching!

@@farmingforwhitetails Exactly. Your video says it pretty well already. I see drop aways as great for open ranges where they are less likely to get bumped, but on a walk & stalk, nothing beats the whisker biscuit for quietness and keeping the arrow secured. Also, I'd take a drop away for long range hunts too, but I'm excellent at letting deer get close to me so I don't have to shoot over 20 yards when I can help it.

I definitely prefer the close ones too. 30 yards and in is as far as I prefer to shoot at live game. Too many variables past that distance!

I see 'marketing' hasn't gotten to you. I shoot what works, through paper and downrange.

The accuracy debate between a WB and drop away has always been kind of funny to me. I'd bet that most people blame the rest for something they are doing in their form which creates their inaccuracies. The drop away only contacts the arrow for a few inches, slightly longer for a limb driven one, whereas the WB is in contact for the entire length of the arrow. Therefore, any torque, twitch, or other bad form issues won't transfer through a drop away but will definitely show downrange with a WB. Shoot whatever you're confident with though, be it or a WB or drop away.

Agree! To each their own, and I can’t see enough difference for it to matter in hunting situations. Thanks for watching!

A $300 WB, with the right marketing, might well outsell all other competitors!

I've got a pile of rests and a pile of receipts. After a lot of testing I can say, with authority, that a whisker biscuit will iron out cam lean, ill-timed cams, unequal tiller, poor rest height and a host of other tuning issues. It is only the fact that this system is so cheap - and straightforward - that we don't see it on the advertising-driven national stage. 'They' want you to buy $300 rests when, at most of the televised events, a whisker biscuit would suffice.

Hard to argue you with you on any of that. Thanks for watching!

I love both rests but you gotta admit, one of em has the coolest name.

There’s a few video on RU-vid where they compare rests. Only 1 to 3 fps difference

Definitely not enough to make much of a difference. Thanks for watching!

True. The FPS loss is almost indiscernible.

I went back to a Bisquit, if you shoot every day a QAD is not gonna hold up that long. The brake mechanism wears out and they will start going past 90deg on the way down and start slapping the riser and getting real loud even with rubber there. Eventually they will start sticking in the down position and start failing shortly afterwards. I always have a couple on hand and would send them back for a free of cost rebuild but it's a pain in the butt and always happens at the worst time. Me personally i'm done with them until they come up with a design that holds up to every day shooting.

Will watch for those issues. So far, it’s holding up nicely!

Whisker biscuit is a great option! Thanks for watching.

I switched the same. The whisker brisket are less accurate especially on short axel to axel bows

I definitely can’t knock my biscuit because it was good to me for so long, but yes, like I said in the video, there’s simply no way getting around the drop away being a tad more accurate and consistent.

I would love to see some scientific testing on different rests with bows in a vice, Doppler Radar speed measurement and shooting groups. There is so much conflicting info out there and most is subjective / anecdotal
@farmingforwhitetails
@farmingforwhitetails Год назад
Agree. I don’t think there’s enough of a difference for it really to matter when it comes to hunting or even target shooting. I think it ultimately comes down to personal preference in most areas. Thanks for watching!
