Best landing ever is that former fighter jet pilot, he deployed thrust-reversers as the main landing gear touchdown which many pilots don't do. GREAT SKILLS CAMPTAIN

They say any landing is a good landing but that was as good as it gets....Huge respect to the pilot & first officer......I expect they just signed off & did it all again the next day ! QANTAS !!

That is better than a text book landing, just pure skill.

Great landing in such terrible conditions, that pilot earned his money, pilots should be paid more. And you know just how powerful Mother Nature can be, when a huge A380 can bounced around like a ball.

OK, that was amazing. I was holding my breath the whole time. Can't imagine the passengers and F/A's!

Unbelievable !!! I have watched hundreds of landing videos...but not such a perfect touchdown as this...I could not even see the smoke from the tyres at touchdown. I do hope qantas saw this and made the pilots Board members of the airline...no greater plug needed for travellers to fly lifetime by this airline only.

Now that's why Qantas has a reputation for being the safest airline in aviation history. What a flawless landing. I've never flown in my life but i have much respect for them. I'd trust Qantas over Emirates,Qatar and any American airline any day.

Seems a rather brilliant Landing, using the Wings and Flaps as intended by those Developers under such conditions. By all those training and experience o e would expect nothing less. 👍👍👍

At 1.20 you can see the windsock which indicate more or less a headwind. Since there is no real headwind limit for landing this is not very dramatic at all and performed often around the world. Also it’s a A380. In these cases the larger the aircraft the easier it is to control in this case. Try this in a small turboprop and the pilot must work much harder to control the aircraft. Also the real challenge start when they vacate the runway and such a strong wind affect the tail surface. Again more dramatic in a small and much lighter aircraft for the same wind speed. This Qantas pilot is of course doing a very good job, no doubt about that. But as a professional airline pilot having flown gliders, small turboprops, medium and large jets, both Boeing and Airbus, I just want to point out that in this case it just gets easier the larger the aircraft is.

I am a horrible flyer.i always have been watching this made me wince....as a Aussie I'll always choose Qantas first and if by chance I'd have been on this flight I would have stood at the end and given a standing ovation then hugged the pilots!

Description makes it sound like it was diverted to Sydney from LA. That's a pretty big diversion.

That was a textbook landing in a head wind. What would really test their mettle is landing in 100 Mph cross wind. Remember that the larger the plane the less is it affected by winds because of its weight and mass.
