I love Ross Noble's sense of humour. He's not cynical, he's wide-eyed, but soooo funny. And it's never against somebody, it's just funny out of any context.
You are so right; I was once in the front low, at one of his gigs, and for about the first 25 to 30 minutes of the show, it was Ross Noble interacting with me haha. You see. I had folded my leather jacket, and put it across my lap; and when Ross came out, he saw me sitting there, with the jacket on my lap, and was confused by the sight haha. I can’t remember what he asked me about, or everything that he said, as I was trying not to die from laughing so damn hard; but it wasn’t him really taking the piss out of me, or trying to embarrass me, as it can be with other comedians. It was just him asking me stuff, me responding, and him finding something humorous in what I said, and making everybody laugh; it felt like chatting to a very funny friend, who is really on form...in front of over 2 thousand other people haha. It wasn’t nerve wracking, like you think the comedian is going to make you look like an idiot, so everybody else laughs at your expense; he was just really easy going, and friendly, while also seeming genuinely interested in my answers to his questions, and was great at making me feel at ease... ...while, simultaneously, making me nearly choke to death from laughing too damn much/hard; and it got to the point where I couldn’t breathe, and was genuinely worried that that’s how I was going to die: laughing myself to death at a Ross Noble show haha. One of the most impressive things about it all, was that the whole opening, of him talking to me for nearly half an hour, was obviously improvised on the spot; he just used the funny image, of me with my jacket on my lap, and then riffed off that, as well as off the other things I said in response to his questions about me, and my life. Obviously he’ll have stock material in his head, that he can go to, for certain situations, and he probably threw a few of them in during that bit; but, from what I remember, the vast majority of his jokes were so specific, to both his reactions to my leather jacket on my lap, and what I was saying to him, that it felt completely improvised. Whatever he did, it was an excellent night of comedy; he was on for ages bloody too, and the rest of his set was just as funny as my interactions with him; but it was that first part of the show, that tipped the whole thing over, into it being one of the greatest live comedy experiences I’ve ever had in my life- before or since haha. He’s such a great performer; I would love to see him live again, and I’d highly recommend him to everyone. 😀 Anyway, apologies for droning on so damn much; brevity will never be my strongest attribute haha. Hope you, and your loved ones, are keeping safe, and well, during these fucked up times. 🤞😀🤞 All the best. 😀👍
@@ThisCharmingMan1984 No apologies needed; I would love to have an experience like yours. Thank you so much for sharing, it put a big smile on my face.
@@DrewskiTheLegend That joke would KILL!... ... ... At a Star Trek convention. Cause 1) Anything that makes fun of Star Wars 2) Anything that makes fun of Ewoks in Star Wars 3) Star Trek fans are also often science geeks - you wouldn't have to explain the context! (I should know... *COUGHGUILTYCOUGH* ^_^;; )
I love the one, that sadly isn't in this video, where Stephen is making nitrogen or something and he says "don't try this at home" and Ross goes "try it in someone else's home"🤣
I tend to take that line on board when I’m doing something that involves the “don’t try this at home” warning and now where ever I live house prices plummet, I think they actually pay people to live next to me
Yeah but Alan stole that scene by pretending to be the man in Stephens ear. "WHATS HE FUCKING DOING. PUT THE ACID DOWN! Do this properly OR YOU WILL FIR DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?"
Vincent van der Hoek Brian Cox is seemingly great with this sort of stuff. He never appears to get annoyed with the insane questions like "where are Ewoks most likely to live?", he just finds them funny and (in some cases) a good on the spot challenge to answer intelligently. The only people who really annoy him on TV are ones that ignore science eg. "The earth is flat." and "The moonlanding didn't happen." They're the people who you can see him slowly wanting to yell at.
Has there ever been an episode with Ross Noble and Noel Fielding? I can't decide who would be more surreal ... or who would exasperate Sandi the fastest.
He was the same on a show that used to be on in Australia: Good News Week. He didn't come on the show very often, but when he did, my god... They always had a segment where everyone got a prop of some kind, and every single time Ross was on, he hijacked the show just by dicking around with one of the props. It's always just pure insanity. Brilliant insanity.
You should have seen him on Thank God You're Here a few weeks ago. H was an astronaut and he derailed it in five seconds. "We all had a job here. I was to prorate for lift off, you were supposed to pack the sandwiches, and you, GLOVES!"
I saw him live not long after this, people were leaving Toblerone/Rolo combos for him on the stage before the show and during the intervals. I'd kind of forgotten the reason why until he actually said Toblerone Rolo Combo when clearing all the confectionery away, think he'd been getting similar most nights on the tour!
6:20 Listening to Ross Noble's dream of tossing annoying furry creatures into liquid fart is hilarious. I cried the first time I heard this, and I like Ewoks.
@deekat3279 I believe Mads means this episode (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mqRkkVQ6OSE.html) where Steven doesn't understand a Geordie/Newcastle accent (the accent Ross Noble has). However, that's not Ross Noble, but Phil Jupitus, who I love even more than Ross!

Yeah, QI has a few mediocre regulars, like the one-note Jimmy Carr (whose every joke is basically "I'm a pervert"), or the awful Jo Brand (whose every joke is basically "I'm fat, and I swear"). But whenever I see Ross Noble on the panel I'm like "Ah good, I'm definitely going to laugh out loud at least a couple of times this show."
I think it's great. Brian Cox humouring Ross Noble's silly questions actually helps conduct a really fun way of teaching us about Titan and its fart lakes.
This is why Dr Cox is so perfect as a trusted public face of science. He’s just such a lovely man. And his ease at matching Ross’s energy, means I will forever remember that Titan is very cold and has snow made of farts.
There's a bit in the "Making of Qi" episode they did, where Ross acknowledged that he was never the smartest in the room, so he intentionally leaned into the whacky, and the 'anti-Stephen,' as it were.
Question as a Geordie, for Americans... Can you understand everything Ross says? I've been in many situations with English people who can't understand me, let alone Americans
I can understand his accent more than I can understand a heavy southern accent. I live in the south. In all fairness I grew up listening to BBC radio in the US. I may not be a fair one to be answering as a result.
What I love is the fact that I know an Ewok. She, Tabby Johnson, was voice of one on the animated series. She also was a backup singer on Rick James' Superfreak.
Mingers is another term for disgusting or revolting people (usually women). In a Geordie accent it would be pronounced the same as mingus. Hence the irate people at the park!
I love Ross so much! I saw him and Jason Manford in "The Producers" a few years ago while on vacation in Dublin. I remember walking by a poster advertising the show and Ross's crazy face was what made me turn back to look at it and I immediately thought: "OMG, I need to see this!" It was awesome!!!
I can't tell you how many views I've done on this... but every time... I LOVE ALL OF YOU! But Ross, I'm hurting in the rib area. Too funny!!! Thank you so much. m
Love Brian Cox completely playing along with Ross' absurdity, complementing it with relevant scientific facts to spur it on. Might be the best guest QI's had honestly.
