There's a strange comfort in knowing he's entirely irritable in his day to day life

The chapter in his book where he talks about doing panel shows is called "Being Myself." He talks about how nervous he was for his first QI appearance (Series C - Corby), and says it took him a while to relax and just be himself on camera after so many years of playing scripted comic characters. He also says he came to enjoy it so much that he keeps agreeing to do panel show appearances even when it's not a smart career move for him. So any time he's on a panel show from about 2005-2006 on, that's just who he is, perhaps exaggerated by excitement about being on the show.

@@salmjak In his words (paraphrased so I don't have to go get the book off the shelf) he said that he keeps doing them even when he seems over-exposed, and when the smart career move would be to create a scarcity of his presence. I assume he's referring to his appearance fees, but he didn't go into detail.

@@tomdinning8549 Where did the 'wouldn't OF' come from? That has never been correct, but a LOT of Americans seem to mess that up. Also, you rarely saw the show with Stephen, apparently. They're TOTALLY different in how they handle the guests. Stephen was far more understanding that this is a COMEDY program with interesting information, not like Sandy who is apparently under the impression that it's a QUIZ SHOW full of jokes. Very different approaches. And dealing with a raunchy panel or guest isn't handled the same either...

Michael Berthelsen being an English man not an American, you can’t depict to me how much of a show I’ve seen, I grew up watching this show. Stephen himself has said that she is a perfect pick for the host.

@@gwishart Stephen Fry did the pilot, Palin was first choice to host, however, but he turned it down because he thought it would be too long of a commitment and interfere with his travelling shows.

She has grown into such the lovable mom hasn't she. I remember first seeing her on the shows, the strange intelligent outcast who was a little introverted due to being gay growin up, not quite fitting in, a little quiet, reserved, bad dresser lol. And turned into such a lovable amazing host who was just friends with everyone with a personality that finally was allowed to show up. For me i can remember when i thought that switch happened, when she went on the rant about the bananas shortening your life span lol

I think it's the other way around. Stephen the jester who brings the entertainment through facts and anecdotes while Alan the King being entertained and occasionally joining in when he can be bothered. Then, when he got bored of Stephen, he replaced him with Sandi

You can't say that for certain, though. The colour you measured has gone through a camera, and possibly some post-production. (Not to mention how lighting influences the process.)

I'd say that it's a light grey. Not really any blue in it at all.

I’d say that’s a light grey teetering on the edges of a pastel blue. It’s probably the lighting that’s causing confusion. I can definitely see it as being only grey and I can also see it as being mostly grey and somewhat blue. So, overall, I haven’t been helpful at all :p
