Is this real or have we been drinking so much Amaro that we’re hallucinating it!? Alton, it is such an incredible honor to see you using our Amaro Angeleno and your first reaction to tasting it has got to be one of our all time best moments as a company. All of us here at the distillery are huge fans of yours and we are just blown away by your kindness. Our most sincere thanks to you and Elizabeth for including us in this video. This is truly like stepping into a dream world. Cheers to good health and better days ahead.
I would love to see the decorating process as it happens when Elizabeth does your new NYC apt. I really like her eclectic style and she has given me some ideas. As for the QQ show - I would enjoy if you occasionally posted what the planned cocktail is going to be so I could join in.
Please do whatever you two want on these Tuesday programs. The both of you have been a breath of fresh air and alcohol during this pandemic and I can’t thank you enough.
You are not a cooking show, you are inviting us to share 1 hour a week your life. For that hour do what you like, what ever you like. It will make the hour more enjoyable for everyone.
As far as "format": do whatever comes up. If you go on a trip, then do a restaurant review as you drive to the destination; if you are inspired by a grocery store trip, then let's cook that; if you had something fun sent to you by a viewer, then do a dish inspired by that. In short: do whatever you want! Please!
Stop fretting about what you look like. We love you for you. Something very sexy about a clever man who knows his way around a kitchen! And the turtleneck looks fine too!
New ideas. Alton did go on the road a bit. Maybe, the two of you, showing us the best delis/markets we can order from to support the vast community of Entrepreneurs surviving during this wonderful time we have.
"Heat me with your best shot." That was a good one Elizabeth! It's hard to get something past an old (now 65yo) '70's rocker, like myself. Did anyone else get it? I loved it when Elizabeth called the 60's and '70's "mid-century". I guess the era does technically extend to 1970, but to me the term means 1950's. (Rather like "classic" rock radio includes the '70's-'90's.) Also, I've got to say that my dad (who would have been 100 this year in June) was raised in a part of Chicago that had Italian immigrants and he taught us kids to twirl spaghetti against a spoon, so I always thought that was the Italian way to do it. I decided to google it and found that twirling against a spoon is absolutely not what Italians worth their salt would do. While my illusions have been shattered as to authenticity, I stand by spoon-twirling as a far less messy compromise [on one side you're either sucking up food that's hanging from your mouth/biting it off and letting it drop back onto your plate - neither of which Miss Manners would have approved (and yes, she was a thing back in the day, at least in the South) OR putting a decent bite into your mouth]. And if I had the pleasure of traveling to Italy today, I would still twirl against a spoon. Call me a rebel. (Or a 65yo who no longer gives a flying rat's ass as to what other people think -- that phase has, happily, long since past.) Anyhoo, I love that you guys have been able to fulfill your dream of having your own place in Manhattan. Work hard, save your money, then go for your dream. This is a very "moderate conservative" way to live. Congrats, you two. And I don't care what you guys do, as to content, I just love the interaction. Fix some drinks and take us on the journey of fixing up your new place. That would be grand. As a faithful watcher from the get-go, best wishes.
A new series idea could be just about cooking from home in nyc. I would imagine it's a eatout culture and not a dine in one. So more indepth on the grocery stores you would go-to and where to find ingredients. Hope that inspires the two of you a bit. Thanks for the shows.
Dude, his kitchen is something a first year student, or a I just moved out of my mom's basement, kinda kitchen. It's super small. It's not something someone would picture for a middle aged man of moderate financial success.
@@TheFaustianMan I mean you've seen the size of their main home, right? It's a secondary living space in what is most likely a nice neighborhood in Manhattan - this is normal for some of the sexier areas of the most popular city in the country.
Food for thought, we watched your show after it aired here in Seattle. My husband commented that it's much harder to get home at 7pm est v s 8pm est (4 vs 5 for us) and that might factor in the lower live numbers. The bonus is we watch when the kids (hopefully) go to the bed, but we can't watch live when y'all start earlier. Love the new digs and can't wait to see what Elizabeth does with it.
I hope that you understand how nice it is to see you in your home! I enjoyed so much watching all of your shows. And you got me through some very tough times. The lost my grandfather and my other half. And my grandmother moved in with me and we just fell in love with your shows. I wish she was alive to see you in your home if she seen you cook without the extra help she would flip because she loved to cook and she was excellent cook she would cook for the farm hands. And when they would bail and things he have as many as seventy people. And yes is being a minor kitchen like yours. And she thought it was so wild when you would do your cooking and everything would go just smooth on TV and I kept telling her the magic of cameras and extra help. I'm just so pleased decided to let us in your home. PS I came home to take care of my grandmother until she passed away. One of these days I'll be back home in New York also so enjoy it and enjoy wherever you move back to
I would love to see your food shopping trips, from bodega to spice shop to fishmonger, I'd love to know what is available and the atmosphere of the places.
Dont think about changing format or code, just keep doing this, its what you do naturally, what your good at, pure and obvious authentic, what you should do now and post pandemic world! lol love u guys beautiful episode, makes us feel not so stuck in iso! Almost cried in joy at the end lol
Love the shows., love the format. I've said it before, enjoy watching you guys weekly. I didn't get a notification from RU-vid you were live tonight... The past few, I have actually been watching live...good to take a break from catching up. Looking forward to the next! Thanks. BTW...Congrats on the new digs!
Huge fan. Just came across your channel. And so excited! Like the traveling and cooking up local flavors or what they grow locally...like even in the US. In rural areas...not covered.
I HATE my electric stove. I HATE HATE it.....it’s awful. I would much rather have a gas stove, but my landlord didn’t go with that option....Anyway, love this show and youguys! Thanks for brightening my week. Xo from Michigan
Would TOTALLY rather watch you and Elizabeth than watch Bobby and Giada all day everyday! I love the show's from NY been fun to see you enjoying a different space. Congrats on the new place too!! I just love you guys and QQ or whatever show you create. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
Do a show with the available take out near you. Also, show us some of your favorite food products that we may not know about or places to buy gourmet foods. Great show last nite! Congratulations on your new apartment...yes Elizabeth, that kitchen is TOOOOOO white!
Oh hell it will be horrible. Dark and nasty. Plants dripping in your face just icky and modernistic which is not cool anymore , go with antiques and class and white. Or go with Cymbalta colors blue and light pea green.
Love rewatching these episodes that allow us all into your life. Thanks for sharing with us, congrats on the new apartment, and call your new drink the Lexington Sunrise :)
Puttanesca is said to have been created in brothel in Rome, but in Italy we have quite a few dishes referencing prostitutes but which actually mean that the dish itself is promiscuous and you can put anything in it. A quite famous example is a cake called "putana" (one t) from Vicenza, made with apples, raisins, stale bread (lots of), and milk. Basically an Italian bread pudding. Since it also has some grappa, I guess someone who likes French toast may like it too...
Thank you both so much for doing these every week. This is by far my favorite episode so far, you both seem really, really happy in the new place. Looking forward to next week!
Possible drink name "New York Sunset" heh just saw that scroll by in the live chat :) I miss doing these live but my employer frowns on my lack of productivity when I do.
It looks really nice you guys. I mean how many can say they bought an apartment in NY? not many, you guys should be proud of yourselves. :). I think its awesome! I also think it's awesome that you guys are sharing it together, very important, because who came here to be alone? Also when I seen that Giadia and Bobby did a italy thing, yeah no thanks.....Also I was thinking they were doing more than that there, first instinct. lol but you guys are way cooler and authentic in who you are. Also why not go out and show us what you guys see, take us on a journey with you, trust me if you do that, your views will rise up.
Show ideas, show us some of your favorite take out places in various cities. Another idea, I know Elizabeth is gonna redecorate that place, maybe a v-log of that and how you pick out decorating ideas etc.
I remember my husband and I used to watch your show many years ago, and then the show was no longer on food network. So we haven’t seen you on tv for many years. It’s nice to see you here on RU-vid. By the way, my son is named Alton also. :) My husband knew someone in the 80’s with the name Alton, which is why we named our son Alton. You are the only other person we have heard of with the name Alton. :)
I love your channel and look forward to your videos. As a dog Mom, I really love seeing your pups too! Would love to see some breakfast episodes. And, as someone who has to be on a more restricted diet (vegan, gluten free), episodes with any ideas for that would be great! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos! :-)
Love watching every week.the food always looks delicious. The new apartment is nice can't wait till Elizabeth puts her touch on it.whatever you guys decide to do in the coming weeks of qq is going to be great.you are both so down to earth & act like no one is watching.love it.I also love tthe stories of your lives are great. Thanks guys.till next time take care.xo
No, I’m not drinking, but it’s fun watching you two. I have the affliction that strikes many chefs, I’ve been sober for over 30 years, I cook with alcohol, but I don’t drink it ,I don’t wake up in strange cities, not knowing how I got there and I haven’t wrecked a motorcycle, hence my 1982 RT 100 R BMW is pristine. Two things don’t mix with alcohol, motorcycles and gunpowder
Congrats on the new place! It would be fun to see you guys get dishes from local restaurants and review them, then recreate them with an AB spin. Cooking historically significant dishes and hearing about the origins would be interesting too.
White kitchens give me a headache, why do folks think painting everything white when you want to sell is a good thing ??? It is all about color for me !!! I cant wait to see what you do to bring the kitchen to life !!! Someday Elizabeth, someday, I will have the kitchen of my dreams and I look forward to sharing it with you, cant wait to see what you think !!!!
I like the fact you cook like we do at home. I also like the the idea of seeing how you design/change the apartment. Maybe a book of the drinks you make, I never have all the ingredients to drink what you have unless it’s a Martini🍸
We have a glass top stove like you do. After a year or two the burners, under the glass begin to rust and look terrible. How can we prevent moisture from getting there. Celebrate life my friends. Each town in Italy makes it's own sours, campari and they are each different.
We had one of the glass top stoves in the house in Kiel, since there wasn't a gas line ran. When we moved back to Racine. The house there has an old jenn air electric cook top that you had to have the biggest coil always on high to keep water boiling and an double wall oven that burn cookies in one and under cook them in other when at the same temp. The hole house was white in side and the counter tops where even white ceramic tile. We have a mix of pink ceramic tile (12" x 12" and 16" x 16"), white carpet and an white washed hard wood flooring. The 16" x 16" tile and wood will be replace this year. The tile was installed incorrectly.
Just a thought, You said you had a pad for Scabs to do her duty on your old apt balcony. Could you get a large tray, put some cat litter in it and put the pad on top?
Take us on a grocery shopping tour of kalustyans Lexington Avenue. Another potential sponsor is Darn tough Vermont made socks since you cook with socks on.
New York (The Great American Melting Pot) You can visit the ethnically diverse neighborhoods, bring home their foods to cook !!!! (Who are the people in your neighborhood).
Caputo’s deli in Salt Lake City, UT. They have great options, and even better customer service. Always there to answer questions. This is me having a monthly delivery to Oklahoma.
Next time you have leftover champagne put a metal spoon in the opening of the bottle. This will sustain the fizz. I don’t know why, I’m not as scientifically in the know as you are, Alton, but it works! Cheers 🥂🍾and congratulations to you guys on the apartment!
I would love to see you and Elizabeth traveling anywhere overseas. Kinds of sick of Giada in Italy- she's done so many shows there. Kalustyans is the most amazing place. I used to work two blocks from the store and I would spend 1/2 my paycheck in there. Their naan, spices, hot sauces, Soo wonderful. First place I ever shopped in that sold, Indian, Thai, Filipino, Japanese, Middle Eastern foods all in one place. Can't wait to get back to NYC. That will be my first stop.
name it New York Sunset !!! I did go gaga over the pots, I had never heard of them....called Mom and she informed me, even if I owned only one I will never need another pot . I love that they are orange !!!! Please dont forget Italy, that being said I would love to see some Lithuanian dishes , I love tasting and learning about food from other cultures across the globe. When i was a teenager , my Gran took me for my first taste of German food, a new place had opened up. I LOVED IT !!!! RAISING HAND !!!! WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU AND ELIZABETH anywhere on the planet !!!!
Two things: 1. Who would send you not nice things? They are wrong. 2. There's a certain appeal to seeing you cook in what looks like millions of regular apartments all over the country. College kids and young bachelors have no excuses now. I know it's more difficult and maybe time consuming, but I like knowing I could make this in almost any friend or family member's kitchen.
Just as long as you make something either cocktails and or food someplace! You can switch it up! Picnics benches, cafes, cheap eats, grocery stores with hot food counters, etc!
future episodes it would be really cool to do meals/drinks around a movie and the movies be from around the world. Mad Max would be a great place to start!
Totally agree. Dinner and a movie, with the movie being like a watch party after the chaos that this Alton and Elisabeth making dinner sounds awesome! especially since they both have such strong opinions about movies. Even if time constraints meant they could only do it once a month and the movie would have to be canceled during Good Eats production, I'd still love to see that!
Your very own (owned) pied a terre in New York! It will be interesting to see how you it evolves. I do hope that you will be able to replace the electric stove with gas. BTW, I don't watch the live stream because there are too many interruptions. Thank you for providing a bit of fun on my Tuesday evenings.
