Our next contender in the playlist is the Qu-Bit Nebulae. It may be a bit underappreciated, but wow. A unique feature is elastic audio for time stretching. Join this channel to get access to perks: / @cinematiclaboratory
Hey cinematic, I was wondering, if you have to choose between arbhar and nebulae v2, which one do you find yourself gravitaring towards more and why? Im stuck between getting 1 of the two to pair with morph, beads, and mojave. Lol im a granular nut. Seems like nebulae makes a lot of useable sounds compared to other granular modules i either own or heard demos of which i like but i constantly read horror stories like its impossible to use and figure out or firmware, module issues. Thanks man awesome stuff
I was so frustrated with the Nebulae, I took it out of the rack a while ago (and was on the verge of selling it). However, I just put it back yesterday to have another go. You get some great sounds, which I have to say I just don't seem to find. One thing that's curious on your set up (that we can see), is that you seem to have the Blackbox Out going into the V/Oct on the Nebulae? Maybe you can explain the set up so that I can be inspired (to keep the Neb)... 😉
I think it's an optical illusion that looks like the output of BitBox going to 1V/Oct. I am not sure what I used, but it's pitch CV coming from keys or a sequencer. With granular synthesis it all comes down to your sound source. I'd recommend going to Freesound.org and download a few 'reels' for the MakeNoise Morphagene. These ae carefully selected for granular synthesis and I am 100% sure you'll love playing with a few. Not sure if the Neb can handle 32 bit, but I think so. Otherwise find a free tool like Audacity and chop/save a few fragments in 48 kHz/24 bit.
My v1 Nebulae is right up there as one of the modules I would never sell- and it’s far and away the best granular module I’ve ever had. Nothing else I’ve tried makes pitch completely independent of both grain size and playback speed, and that’s invaluable imho.
do you know what the exact differences are between the v1 and v2? i'm thinking about getting a v1 because i can buy one for a reasonable price, but i'm wondering if i should maybe pay a little more to get the v2
You should download the manual, but I think you can set source+freeze, and then it will fire a grain instead of freezing the buffer. Yes. Confirmed :).
Amazing! thank you! I'm looking for something clockable / or that I can trigger as my music is rythm based, I already Have beads/clouds and Looking for something more for sound design.@@CinematicLaboratory
I can't find any documentation about it, but my ears tell me they're much less than 44. I'd say somewhere around six. Not sure why it's not mentioned at all in the manual.
@@maxistork6060 If you're talking about the Neb, you need to put it in Live Mode, then it just records in a loop - determined by the initial loop you set/record (see the manual). However remember, if you stop the music, you loose what you were hearing (unless you release the record button first).
