I have the Quadlock at my left handlebar as well on a 2020 Z900. You can get around the funny angle by using the extension part that came with the mount. But the pracket on facing you and the extension arm to raised the phone. Don't remove the vibration tamper. If you get a new phone with optical image stabilization, the vibration from your handlebar will break it and you won't be able to take pictures with the main camera of the phone anymore.
Like this: drive.google.com/file/d/1H11L45ZTLa183dVJaWqZo6F1Qzv9JIwd/view?usp=drivesdk It's almost at the same angle as the bikes screen and at a very comfortable hight.
Personally I dislike that I have to use their phone case to be able to use it on the bike. I have a RAM mount on my Z900, similar to your old holder. That does not really have a vibration dampener and my iphones are still working.
I wish QuadLock did a better job of noting which mounts work best for what bikes. I ended up buying a few of their different mounts and using trial and error to find the one that fits best on the Z900 with Puig Touring screen. For me it was: aluminum handlebar mount WITHOUT the arm. Attach that knuckle you talked about in the beginning straight to the handlebar mount, then the vibration damper, then the wireless charger. Fits great without sitting super high, nice and solid, and no funny angles.
@@bikerevz Just watched the rest of your vid, I would not remove the vibration damper! Not all wobbles are created equal. The wobbling that your seeing as you drive down the road is protecting your phones image stabilizer from the harsh vibrations of the engine. I understand where your coming from though, I do wish there was a way to make it tighter for our bigger, heavier phones. But I have a feeling it was intentional how loose it is. They designed that damper because they had so many complaints about QL destroying their phones camera. They released the damper and the complaints stopped as long as it’s being used. So it must work. I did hear that the majority of those complaints were on iPhones, as their image stab. is a little more sensitive perhaps. I still wouldn’t take a chance on damaging your nice new Galaxy though. Thanks for the great content! It would have been nice to get some closeups of the mount on your handlebars to show orientation and fitment a little better. Kind of hard to see the positioning of the mount from your POV at the end with the phone covering the mount and the charging head covering the bracket. Always love z900 content, keep up the great work 👍
Yeah, quite right and damper still on there! Got used to the wobble now but I did wonder if a slightly shorter centre bolt would mean I can tighten it up a bit.
Ever think about adding a Puig windscreen? I couldn't imagine riding my Z900 without one....of course, maybe I'm Ninja-fairing spoiled! The sport touring screen takes most of the wind off my torso and shoulders.
Seems like ALOT of diffrent part for such a simple job of having your phone mounted and wired.. I would expect a neater job when it comes to products .. I use my trusted tomtom rider 550 and it sits almost flush with the handlebars tucked behind my windscreen
Thank you so much, what a treat to reach 1000! I was previously markz900 but it was a bit bike-specific so I changed the name and it seems to have worked.
The wireless unit is powered by a USB cable so I needed a USB socket. I don't think I could go direct from the unit (USB-C) to the 12V Bullet connectors.
Interesting vid, but i thought you went a bit over board for a phone mount. I would rather see you install a zumo xt, instead. Anyway, ride safe, god bless u.
