My mum bought a VL new in 87 so I grew up in one. Pretty much every day I got driven to school was in a VL, $22,000 the Calais was $33,000 and she couldn’t justify paying that much more. Nothing ever broke, RB30,white,blue trim. I remember they stayed worth about $10,000 here in Perth for ages. It got stolen 3 times,sold it in the early 2000’s for about $2500 I think.

This is looking amazing - thank goodness Low Standards only posts on frothy fridays. :) The exhaust setup is looking stout - this thing is going to sound incredible with an NA quad throttle rotary and long (assuming) equal length 4 into 1 headers. Impressive plans and implementation, as always. Thanks for the vid.

If you don't care about the cluster/binacle area, a brown vk interior will be easier to source

Looking good as always, I assume cost and timelines prevent you from recolouring the dash etc and retrimming the blue interior

I'm all for lowering a car, but that's so low your gonna need those air jacks to put it on rollers to move it to a completely smooth concrete pad to do burnouts. It's gonna look amazing, but not much for driven. Great art peace that's for shore!❤

Hey man long shot but do you still have the diff out of the vl??

I have a suggestion, why don't you paint the blue interior brown with some vinyl spray paint ? The interior in my rusty VL Commodore which has been sitting wrapped up in a car cover for years was the same colour until I resprayed it white with vinyl spray paint, the front plastic parts which were broken I replaced with grey plastic parts from a VL Commodore wagon which I also resprayed white. I plan on resurrecting it which includes cutting the rust out of it,I'm not sure if I should keep the RB30DE engine that I built & fitted almost 20 years ago,it went well for a 3 litre running the stock Nissan RB25DE VVT cams & stock R33 Skyline GTS ECU but maybe a Haltec which would allow for better tuning would be the way to go. About 190 kilowatts (stock RB25DET power) of power that it made made it go really well !
