I just finished listing to this. And I’m speechless. Truly I can’t describe what this album made me feel. The production. The vocals. The lyrics. It’s just so beautiful. I’m giving this a light to decent 2. Absolutely stunning.

As of the night of writing this I’m in a horrible horrible mental state. I listened to this album from front to back for the first time ever and I can confidently say that I truly think it has helped save my life.

Sometimes I mistake coincidences for some divine message... I just turned 27 and have been on the extreme side of existential crisis. This album walked me from feeling extremely trapped and like a clock was ticking to being steady in knowing that all returns to the earth. The animation for sorry4dying in the exclusives channel was everything I needed. Life is scary, dark, chaotic, while also extremely beautiful and you really want to be listening to all of the music it has to offer. This album also gave me full body chills which an album hasn't done in awhile. I know gospel chords with harmonic 808's make that basically programmed, but still it was executed in a way that I felt just so zen. I could have faded out right then and I would have known peace. Anyway I should lay off the adderall, gonna go hug my dog.

about a year out from this records release and i still cannot find an album like it. one that speaks to me on the same level and truly expresses how i feel without being my own music. ive grown a lot but i also havent changed since ive heard this album for the first time. and unfortunately i think the parts that havent changed are ones that are harming me. but this album allows me to cry and process these things so that even if im at work having a breakdown because i feel useless and getting paid barely above minimum wage is making it hard to live life or if im sitting in my room just thinking and having suicidal ideations im able to feel like im no longer alone. this album means so much to me and im so so thankful that quadeca ever released such a beautiful piece of art and made me discover the type of music that i want to create and hopefully am able to live off of one day so i dont have to keep being a cog in the machine and finally escape. thank you ben

This album genuinely feels like a story and the album itself feels like it has such a clear beginning/middle/end. I'm amazed at the buildup the climax in knots, and how the end of the song legitimately sounds like the knots unravelling as it moves into fantasyworld. so much talent

my theory for the album: the album is split into 3 chapters divided by the talking segments at the end of select song chapter 1: sorry4dying-picking up hands quadeca is continuously reaching out to his loved one but they can never seem to hear him which makes quad sad and begin to reminisce on his days as a kid chapter 2: born yesterday-knots in “born yesterday” quadeca begins to get frustrated because no matter how hard he tries, he can never reach out to his loved ones. in “house settling” i think his loved ones may have moved out of the house that quadeca grew up in but quad can’t follow them so he feels betrayed and repeats the phrase “dead to me” aimed toward his loved ones. in “knots” quad reaches a breaking point in frustration and anger that ends in him feeling defeated and losing all hope chapter 3: fantasyworld-cassini’s division in quadeca’s hopelessness he dreams up a perfect and safe place aka his “fantasyworld” but he doesn’t know how to get there. in “fraction of infinity” quad may have an encounter with god who is more wonderful than any words that people describe him as which is also why the sunday service quire is featured. quad also discovers that the only way he can reach his fantasy world/heaven is if he lets go of all his anger and lets go of his loved ones that he’s been clinging to all this time he’s reluctant to do so until, “cassini’s division” where he gives one last message to his loved ones saying goodbye and i love you. which lets him finally ascend into the fantasy world and leave his ghostly life behind. (cassini’s division is also one of saturn’s rings, signifying he ascended so far, mabye even into space or something) (also in “knots” he repeats “i don’t fade to black, i cut to static” which is exactly what he does in the album movie and there’s like a whole minute of static at the end of the album)

"picking up hands" it's so beautiful track idk why, it's such vulnerable track but not to the point like a "fantasyworld" so it's good in-between, it's scream desperate like "pick up my hand...", it's my personal favourite from you Quadonka

You can tell the mental state Quadeca was in throughout the album. You can tell the pain, suffering, and loneliness he felt, but you can see the beauty he felt in it too. THIS is musically expressing yourself on a level that I don't think many can dream of because they cannot comprehend it to being with. Thank you, Quadeca, for your art.

honestly it's been over a year already and i don't know what to say, i've written multiple comments under this video and none of them expressed what i feel about this album properly. my favourite album of all time by far, it's actually in its own realm entirely. this video as a piece of art is bordering on a spiritual experience i can't describe how hard it hits me.

As a musician not yet able to make the kind of music I want to share my feelings and express myself.... quadecas journey is inspirational to me. I will get there some day, I know it.

I only listened to this album yesterday and I am not super-familiar with this artist so I may be missing some parts of conversation surrounding it, but I am surprised that while there is a lot of discussion about the particular details of the story being told here, I haven't been seeing a lot of analysis of what the underlying themes or meaning of it as a story is. I'm really getting the sense that this is, in some way, a metaphor for the way that experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts can effect not only you, but the people around you, even while being alive. I feel particularly heavily in this album, the tension between people's concerns when you confide your pain to loved ones, and the reality that they might never comprehend what you are going through, as well as the knowledge that telling them may just make them upset which leads to further guilt on the part of the depressed party. The conflicting feelings that those around you aren't doing enough, aren't caring enough, aren't going about things the right way, but also they are caring too much, they are going to hurt themselves in the process of helping you, YOU are going to hurt them. (Not to say this line of thought is true btw, just simply the way it may FEEL to someone going through this). I also think potentially there might be a narrative here of killing yourself off metaphorically, by either cutting yourself off from a person or group of people (potentially, family), or simply by changing as a person and no longer being the person they once knew. I feel this particularly because this is a narrative between a son and a mother, and one of the biggest conflicts of growing older is no longer being the child your parents once knew. The ghost of who you were as a child still haunts them, even as you try desperately to carve your own path. The discrepancy between who you are and how your parents view you inevitably leads to conflicts, and in many ways the misunderstandings function in reverse too. The character quadeca plays accidentally kills his own mother out of anger as he loses track of who he once was, and afterwards he can only hear her voice distantly and infrequently, not unlike having a blowout argument with your family and proceeding to only speak to them through intermittent phone calls for a while. The character's desperate attachment to his mother and his past life despite claiming to be confident in his decision to kill himself earlier, may allude to his insecurties about moving into adulthood and independence. The conclusion of dissolving into the void as he accepts whatever concequences may come of his actions in the afterlife, may be the last of his childlike selfishness dissolving away as he learns to grow and take responsibility for the hurt he caused his mother, as well as him letting go of her as a figure whose life must revolve around him (ie anger that she is moving on despite clearly still loving and thinking of him, and having her own difficulty letting go). But these are just some wild thoughts I have after only approximately one and half listens, perhaps it is simply a straightfowardly told story alone. I just enjoy reading too much into things!

The evolution of Quadeca's expression not only as a musical artist, but as a person will never cease to amaze me

The first time I listened to this album I was getting ready to go to my friends dorm to get drunk and have a blast. A couple months ago that same friend committed suicide and this album started to mean something different to me. I can’t hear the last three songs without losing it. I imagine those songs as his final moments before moving on from us. Fantasyworld gives me some comfort knowing he is somewhere over the hill, at peace. Your music has meant a lot to me over the years. And when I need it, I’ll still turn on summit pt. 1&2 for the nostalgia and the will to keep going.

been struggling really bad with my fear of aging, born yesterday, tmwlit and picking up hands have just connected in such emotionally draining and indearing ways that i really can’t describe how much this whole project has done for me. Had my friend take his life in January of that year, this and some special people saved my life and ill never be so grateful to how powerfully moving carefully written and truly cared for art is. Thank you so much for allowing me to grab hold of myself in moments i didn’t feel heard.

The cool thing about this album is that even though it has fewer streams on Spotify and other streaming platforms, people actually talk about it. I've had random friends tell me about this 'great new album' they heard, only for me to find out that they were talking about IDMTHY. Someone I know said it was the most moving experience he had all year to listen to this. So, even though its not as popular, per se, it happens to be one of the greatest achievements of the year. And it has an X factor that nothing I could find this year other than American Heartbreak had. Thank you so much, Ben.

There are artists that have entire teams behind production, lyrics, and music videos. The fact that this is all done by one guy is incredible. The production alone propels it to another level. It's rare to have a concept album like this (especially with only one person responsible for the entire sound of the project) to not overstay its welcome, but this never drags or strays from the central theme. It's truly an accomplishment, and I believe it speaks to how much work he has put into his craft.

this album is so important to me, i lost my best friend almost a year ago and things have not gotten measurably better, no matter how many new people i meet or places i travel to or things i achieve, that grief always sticks by my side. quadeca's music is one of the only things that makes me feel a little less alone

Reading the comments on this video is really something. I’m reminded that music really is powerful in connection between emotions and people. I have to say this album was top tier. I have been able to hear and experience emotion while listening. All of us have found something different in this music. Hey Quad, just wanted to tell you how much this album means to me. I've been living with a speech disorder all my life, which suddenly got way worse a couple of years ago. Because of this I became very closed off to my friends and family since it was so difficult to communicate. Often feeling like I didn't exist, like I didn't matter or have any impact on the world. So many dark thoughts clouded my mind permanently: feeling like my 'past life' was gone, feeling like I had no future, and persistent suicidal ideations. This album perfectly encapsulated all those complex emotions in a way that I truly felt like I wasn't alone. Thank you Quad. Hope ur doing well. PS. I've began speech therapy and am slowly getting better. There is light at the end of the tunnel. :)

After listening to your older work, I was just shocked at how big the gap between the old and new releases is (in a good way). In general, I'm really inspired by IDMTHY, this album made a different person out of me and brought me to a new level of understanding of art. I am proud that as a carefree teenager in an indeterminate period of growing up, I completely accidentally stumbled upon "Tell Me A Joke" during a bus ride, and what it all led to. People are so quick to dismiss Quadeca. Looking through rate your music I see "he's just glitch pop Bon Iver" "he's just copying Lil peep" and "he's copying Godspeed you!" Just because he's a RU-vidr he can't be authentic in so many people's eyes and that really sucks because what you have done here is amazing, groundbreaking and clearly you! There are no words to describe how excited this album made me as a producer. Using the crushed vocals and blasting compressed drums creates this harsh feeling like you are trapped just outside the border of where you want to be. You tastefully and beautifully created exactly the feeling it seems like you set out to and that is pretty damn amazing. I love this piece and I think this will be looked at as a land mark in self-produced music. You are an artist man and a great one!

Wow. Even after the singles being so amazing this album hits like a freight train. After just one listen, I think this will end up being my favorite album of the year. “Beautiful and supernatural” is the perfect way to describe this project, and thank you Quadeca for creating this.

I don't listen to music too much, but I've never had an album that hits every time like it's my first listen. Discovered it thanks to Brad and it became my absolute favorite since then. I can't describe how it makes me feel. Life has been really tough lately. For the past two years I've been loosing more and more - pets, best friends, family members, to the point where everyone who helped me or evoked emotions in me isn't here anymore. I have my mom, my grandma, my internet best friend and my gf. I can't imagine loosing any of them, but life goes the way it wants and I'm 95% sure that pretty soon I'd loose 2/4 of people I've mentioned above due to different reasons. I don't have hope for anything else that I have in my life, I'm not even sure that I will be alive for 1-2 more years myself. Something I get from listening to the album is the thought that I'm alive right now. It doesn't matter what's going to happen tomorrow, if my life gets a bad ending, it doesn't really matter. I tried, I experienced what I could, I had tons of great memories, I lived it the way I chose and I'm happy about it. I know it might sound like a negative thing, but this comforting feeling is something that saves me to this moment. This is by far the strongest effect that I've got from listening to music. Don't mind me reminds me of my late uncle. Who was sick but never told us, was hospitalized in a coma for two months and I couldn't do anything but be there. I regret the days i told him I can't be present when he asked me to come to his house and hang out... I didn't know it was his way to create some final memories before he passed away. I love you uncle.

The exact reason why he isn't with his mom in the real life AND afterlife is because he is not letting go. His problems are not being fixed the more he tries to take action. All he had to do in real-life was calm down and let go, yet he let himself overthink. The same goes with the afterlife. As much as he can try to make his presence known, his mom will never notice he is there. The only way he will be able to be with her again is if he decides to let go into the void. He is literally letting go, without letting her go. Making that void a little bit brighter for when she sees it, until next time.

Obligatory "I can't believe Quadeca's growth" post.

I don't know how, but that was better than I was ever expecting, and I genuinely thought it was going to be a 10/10 going into this. The structure was perfectly crafted and each song was in similar vein but still so unique. The ending was possibly the best and most captivating album ending I've ever seen and I can only imagine the album will sound even better after second listen. Holy shit. AOTY.

i genuinely love the perspective of this album, it’s so unique in a way because I feel like most things that relate to deaths are perspectives on the people mourning the death of someone and finally we get to see what the death of the person feels and how they’re going through it as well, I love this album, thank you quadeca :)

i have anxiety and lately have been having panic attacks but this album genuinely made me feel the most relaxed and happiest ive been in such a long time, even knots weirdly enough. i love quadecas music so much and every album since voice memos represents an important time in my life for me. ive listened to the album once so far but i already love it so much and its only going to grow on me, i set my expectations incredibly high and they were exceeded by a thousand miles. to me this is a 10/10 album, i have 0 issues with it and i love every song so much. i hope you all like it as much as me

But since it’s an interlude it has to be last) 10: *cassini’s division* (Perfect closer for this album. Wouldn’t listen to it by itself tho) 9: *picking up hands* (some of the lyrics give me the chills. Thinking about an empty bedroom that hasn’t been touched since the person died is haunting.) 8: *don’t mind me* (may have the best chorus on the album.) 7: *house settling* (I love the buildup to Danny Brown’s verse, and then Danny Brown comes in and delivers an insane verse. Also love the story of it and how Danny is rapping from the perspective of the Carbon Monoxide) 6: *sorry4dying* (I love the intro and the beat switches all throughout it. It really gets you in the mood for the album and lets you know what you’re getting into. 5: *fractions of infinity* (One of my favorites to listen to on its own. The choir at the end is amazing and the vocals are so good) 4: *tell me a joke* (the ending is the greatest piece of music I’ve ever heard) 3: *knots* (completely comes out of nowhere and is so fun to listen to. Easily the hardest one on here and is great for working out too) 2: *fantasyworld* (so hard to pick between this and born yesterday for my favorite, but this one is incredible. The soft buildup to the huge explosion is incredible. Genuinely gives me the chills every time the “so over the hill” part comes. 1: *born yesterday* (this song got me into Quadeca and is incredible. It’s really just everything good about Quadeca in this song. Genuinely my favorite song of 2022) This album is easily a 10/10 for me. After listening I am just completely bewildered and off-put in the best way, I let the album play, closed my eyes and turned every part of myself to the sounds of the music and I believe this might be the best way to listen to a project like this, throughout the album I reached a point of this psychedelic viewing that I have never experienced before, I witnessed shapes, figures, landscapes, all of it being pioneered by the music and sounds, my body and head moved and jolted without thought, but I was aware that it was happening, I fell asleep during the playing but I somehow can't remember the music stopping or skipping, the final song arrived and has left me shaken, I can't fathom how 8 minutes had passed so quick, during the song I witnessed the shapes warp and bend with the sounds, with the addition of some of my physical room aspects fading in and out of my vision, my vision somehow followed the popping and static noises until I physically saw my room fade in with my eyes closed, it was so odd and when I opened my eyes the image didn't change, it was just too perfect as I "woke up" just as the album finished, Overall this album is an experience, the production is masterfully done and is completely aweing, the amount of artistry shown with the album and the film is incredible and Quadeca should really be proud, Thank you so much for making it.

When you were Quadecax8 making youtube FIFA content and football skits in 2015/2016. In the past 3 years where you've seemingly dipped in and out to drop increasingly ambitious music. Real Thing & The man on my left shoulder are still in my rotation. I remember how excited you were about Voice Memos and how you'd talk about it in videos; I still love that project. Your last project was a tiny bit like this one to me; I never got it at first. But then I remember I listen to mainly rap/hip hop. Mindless crap. So I started listening more and more to understand it. FMTY was a masterpiece in my mind, except it felt like it had bits in between that were your producer/mix/master flexing to prove a point to previous critics. After a couple of listens to this. I was semi-confused but knew there were more layers. So I listened to it on a loop while I worked. And boy. *Ben*. Once this concept clicked, I started getting emotional. I lost my best friend to suicide around the time you started really blowing up on youtube in 2017, so this feels like it came full circle for me. I can also guess you're going through some the motions the past few years. This project gave me closure to something that has always given me a chip on my shoulder for five years. I hope you find the closure you're seeking and more importantly, recover. I hope your next project is what you want, reflects your life as usual but in a way *you* clearly feel better. Your projects clearly echo your current mindset. Keep doing you Ben, don't let her, or anyone else get you close to feeling like you have to do anything you don't want to. This is a masterpiece, and I know there's more to come. Take a bow, take a break, and when you're ready we'll all be waiting for the next acoustical brain child you birth. Sending love. Always.

Nothing could've prepared me for knots, genuinely a life-changing experience

I'm not going through anything as tough as other people here, but when stuff really gets to me and I feel like my head is going to explode I just tune into this album and drift away. It somehow gives me an amazing amount of determination and this is something I really lack sometimes. Thank you Quadeca.

This just might be my favorite album of the year. The singles were unreal & the final result is better than I could've imagined. I'd love to see more music in this style!
