I held my breath every time he raised her from the crib but anyone watching would quickly realize that a parent, a good parent, would never intentionally hurt their child and does all things to the best of their ability. He's a good dad. Good luck keeping up when she starts running!
Kari Colvin if you are used to the way quads learn to balance and use their muscles, this is definitely not unsafe. before I married my husband I thought he was about to fall or drop something all the time because he engages his core differently. just looks weird but isn't actually unstable.
Not going to lie, I got quite uneasy when he pics her up from the crib. Then I realize there are men that don't even acknowledge their children. Great man all around!
Natacha Wasylyk-Vinette he just looks like he's struggling because we aren't used to people moving in that way. as someone married to a quad-- this is quite stable. he has complete control. just doesn't look like it to the rest of us because quads learn to balance and use their muscles differently. I thought my partner was struggling with doing things all the time when we got together, but he wasn't. :)
My dad is a quadriplegic and I guess he was just naturally lucky being able to have my brother and I. I always wondered how that worked lol. I'm 21 and my brother is 18 now, and I couldn't have ever asked for a better dad than I already have. I'm so lucky to have someone as amazing as him to look up to and strive to be as successful as he is!
This is a great video. I purchased a Ferticare and was successful at being able to have two healthy boys with my wife. Being a quadriplegic and taking care of children is extremely difficult. It's one thing to be able to manage your own disability, but when you have to make decisions that involve the care of your children it can be emotionally draining on your marriage. I love to see videos such as this. Thank you.
abilitease I'm going to ask 'that' question. If it's inappropriate please delete my comment. Are you able to have sex. I kno about the ejaculation part and understand it but are you actually able to have sex. PS whether able bodies or not kids do put a strain on marriages
It isn't inappropriate and it's a topic that should be talked about more openly. Yes I can have sex. As an incomplete quadriplegic my feeling/sensation and spasticity contribute to my ability to have an erection and ejaculate. I am not able to move around much so my wife has to do most of the work, but I find ways of contributing. Because the erection with a spinal cord injury (SCI) is a reflex erection I do take the erectile dysfunction (ED) medication to be able to have sex longer and reach the point of ejaculation under conventional means. The Ferticare is great because it helps you achieve ejaculation sooner, which is helpful when you are trying to get pregnant and your partner is ovulating and tells you she needs your sperm NOW! However, the Ferticare has to be used with caution and sparingly because the vibratory stimulation can trigger autonomic dysreflexia (AD). AD is a scary condition in most individuals with a SCI above T6 that is essentially uncontrollable hypertension. When I first used the Ferticare and the results happened in 2 minutes I of course being a male in my late 20's decided to try it two more times that same day and I triggered the AD, which was really scary. I realize some people may find my comments too colorful, but I've been a quadriplegic for 21 years and if anything I am proud to share my struggles and experiences because I have a great life and I want others to understand that they can too...especially the idea of conceiving your own biological children.
What a wonderful story. I wish them all the best for the future. I also grew up with a physically handicapped parent. It's amazing the ways families find to adapt and how the children unknowingly adapt. As I've met new people, I've realised how we've adapted. How things that are normal to us, are not normal to others, such as predictive thinking to identify obstacles and solutions. Thank you for sharing this story.
Hi. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations. Youre a star. I am C6/7 complete post 15yrs. I first wondered if this was possible 7 yrs after my accident. Infact my urologist brought this subject up and I tried it. It took about 10minutes self stimulation and what seemed like an ejaculation. The problem is the autonomous dyreflexia was bad. Really bad. Despite this , it was a thrill to know that perhaps I can father a child. Time went on and about 4 yrs ago met a special lady. Well, I attempted this again but this time the AD was life threatening. I ended up in the ER with a pounding heart and a massive headache. Spasms was out of control. To date, I have not deared try it again. My urologist suggested taking propanol to lower my heart rate , but this just made me faint. So I refrain from this activity which is a shame though.
Don't worry about the baby, they're more resilient than you think. He's doing just fine. I love how open they were about the process of getting pregnant. A lot of people, understandably, don't go into that much detail about the actual process. I feel like their openness will really help other people though. Beautiful baby. Congratulations!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Thanks for explaining everything, even the conception stuff, in full detail! A lot of people (Like me) are super curious, but most people don't want to talk about that kind of stuff. The fact that they even demonstrated the device they used. I was so pleasantly surprised.
see you have such confidence as a parent with a disability, gives me hope i can cope with parenting with my disability i have a auto-immune disease among other things. Thank you for sharing your story i wish you both a great healthy life!
I know! I kept expecting him to put the bowl down on the floor. When he added the milk I thought...well, okay, cats like milk. But then came the spoon and he starts eating it!!!! I couldn't believe that no one else seemed to have caught this as no one mentioned anything until I saw your comment. I couldn't find any comment at all where this was explained??
What a beautiful story, thank you for sharing this. Where your will is there shall be a way! No matter what life tosses at us it's our will that guides us.
Beautiful video. And I think because of dad's disability he will probably be been more involved with his daughter...what a beautiful family. I'm so glad they were able to conceive. And it answered my question because I have wondered how people could conceive. When he uses that vibrator can he feel the sensation when he ejaculates ??? That I'm assuming would be a great thing for him and his wife to use during intimate moments ...
This may seem as if it is advice coming a little late (4 years later), but if you watch Brian Kinney's videos on 'Paralyzed Living', he shows how to make an adaptable crib.
watt a lovely story about this family thank you for sharing this amazing story I’m glad that they are having a kid and hope they have a one big happy family one day it would definitely happy ending to the story 😀😎♥️♥️♥️
Janine Hunt-Jackson I've seen nearly all of their videos! All of them are well done, informative, and definitely worth the time! It is great to see positivity in media! We get fed so much negative nowadays. These folks really are making a difference in many people's lives! :-)
Even though they say he's a paraplegic, when he's clearly an incomplete quadriplegic. 😂 sad how they screw up a detail as big as that one, really need to fix that.
What a beautiful couple My husband is also a quadriplegic plus with myasthenia gravis disease and we doing ivf at the moment because we wanted to have a child and we’ve been married for 8years hopefully Miracle will work 🙏
Weather the baby is healthy or not you still have to be there and parent, I hate when people say as long as the baby is healthy but of course everyone wants a healthy baby but it doesn't always happen that way so you have to except way life is regardless of anything and just have to except it and deal with it wether you want/like to or not
Hello, we are Soraia and Rui from Portugal and we are searching for an acessorie that this movie show on minute 7:48, to transport baby on wheelchair. Can you tell us were to buy/find please?
It proves even people with disabilities can have children, can care for babies and children, etc. My brother is disabled he has two kids grown up with kids of their own, my brother is also a great grandad x 3, his disability is relatively light compared to others, now my dear friends both with cerebral palsy, one from birth, one due to lack of oxygen during a childhood illness, both in wheelchairs, they are married brought up two strong lad, they are grandparents to four children. The wife is more severe than the husband, as she has spasms in her arms especially, but they still raised the boys on their own, in fact they cared for the children, but needed help caring for themselves, especially bathing, clothing and using the loo, the wife still needs help there,
Not sure how appropriate this comment willbe but....a super charged vibrator....😆 any marriage could flourish with that! Hehehe Amazing what technology can do! I'm so happy for them!!!! These videos are fantastic!
Attitude And maybe a few other unmentionable appendages! 😉 This was, however, a very informative video for other couples who are in their position. So, as usual, another well done documentary. Have y'all won any prestigious awards? Truthfully, you should!
Hi people all right? Then search the internet search engines for nerve transplantation or neurorrhaphy. I read some articles that say that some quadriplegic people moved their arms and some legs again. But I don't know if this is being tested or if these surgeries are already being performed, so that people can walk again. If paraplegic or quadriplegic people walked again it would be great! I hope it helps ! A hug ! Then see the articles. I believe that they already perform these surgeries in some places and see first if it's worth it, or if the person gets worse afterwards. If not, don't. You have to be careful with these things. Because sometimes it can be irreversible.
I knew he wasn't complete since he has some Bicep use. Most Quads I worked with, didn't have as mush hand use & couldn't Lift things as he well as he does...Tricep use but Not much Bicep use, was the general 'rule'.
amazing and beautiful blessing but can you imagine if you didn't have a spinal injury lol You could have had triplets you have potent swimmers hahahahahaha congradulations
