This young man has such a great attitude and spirit. He's upbeat and engaging. His caretakers are wonderful people, sent from heaven to take care of his most intimate needs. They are truly angels to take care of him the way they do. One might not realize the level of care someone like him needs, and I appreciate him allowing cameras in to shed some like on this. I have a lot of respect for this guy. He didn't let his accident get him down and was able to move on with his life. Not everybody is able to get back up when they fall down.
well, the good thing that he can afford his effort. it is still about money. if we have money there will be assistance, but likewise without any efforts on his side his money is useless.

I am a CNA and I show the same love and care for my residents. It's hard on families to care for a love one , but I can see the love and respect for this young man. My God bless you young man. keep fighting.

Thank you for always sharing with us Zack, my dad had the exact same injury as you when I was 8, this was in 1979 though and there really wasn't the rehabilitation there is now. When I was 17 my ex bf/best friend was also injured with the exact same injury as yours. None of the kids knew how to deal with it but he had me, spent a lot of time at the rehab hospital with him. My dad did not handle it well, but my friend on the other hand is now a baptist minister, married and leads a wheelchair lacrosse team and although i don't know where he is now, it really shows how attitude can change the outcome of everything. I am not 47, and I truly wish we had RU-vid back then for this sort of thing, because even if you don't realize it you are helping so many people by sharing what you go through. Also you said when you get a body scrub your body starts having spasms. You ever think these spasms are healthy and you should get more deep tissue message like everyday?
You could get that chiropractor messaging gun they use. Probably cheaper in the end instead of paying someone to massage you everyday. Also have you ever seen a chiropractor
@@welhynole4082 They're spasms, sometimes they can look like you're moving but hes not. I'm paralysed and st the beginning my family used to say 'omg you managed to lift your leg!' But sometimes it is literally just a coincidence of the position you're in try to use them to you're advantage if that makes sense?
So much respect for you. I know how hard it was for me when I had my double lung transplant February 28, 2022. I had to relearn how do everything. I can't even imagine what you go through every day.

@@evelynoliva2271 He has a "caregiver" not a caretaker. Why caregivers? perhaps Independence, and healthier relationships. Plus, I think "caregivers" , a good one, works out better for all.

What I love💚💚💚 about this Quadriplegic is he do what he can for himself... He ain't just laying bed waiting for everyone to come in and do EVERYTHING for him. Whatever he can physically do for himself, he'll do it..... Plus he do Boxing exercises to keep up his strength. GREAT JOB!!!!! KEEP GOING.....

What a relief to find this video. An honest look at something that is usually hidden from many and therefore mysterious and scary, done in a forthright way with no glossy production or hype. It's like he's saying "Here I am, and this is what my life is really like." It's an amazing skill to be able to work with what you have and get on with life. Most people face far smaller challenges and complain a lot more. Zack has achieved a foundation of true maturity with which he can build great things. It wouldn't surprise me if he felt a little disdainful of people less mature than himself. And his care taker is another role model for all. It may look simple, but these kinds of lives and relationships are near the pinnacle of human potential.
Hard to complain about anything after you watch someone go through this. Most times, we don’t appreciate the simple things like having functional legs or being able to see. This is a great reminder to just be thankful. And this guy is always smiling and always thanking his caregiver. Just awesome to watch. 👍

I came out of retirement and did caregiving for a long time. I felt I was doing something that made his live run smoother. His Alzheimer’s was quite advanced but he was very cooperative, he trusted me from the very beginning. He relayed to me as best he could that he didn’t like the previous caretaker who was a female. I missed him terribly when he passed, he was my mother’s age so he was like a father.. He’s Resting In Eternal Peace.

My Mom was in a nursing home for about a year. Most of her aids were wonderful, some not so much. When she passed and I settled her estate I sent checks to the aids that I found were kind and attentive. They wrote me back saying this was the 1st time anyone had done this. The job is something you have to want to do to be good at it.
