Quake Champions Random Tips #4 (Sensitivity, Accuracy and Aiming Rockets) 

I cannot thank you enough Zy. You introduced me to the Quake Champions. It arguably one of my favorite games, I enjoy playing hours over hours trying to get better. I’m a relatively young player and new player in the community (13). You’ve helped me so much with getting better. I know this might not seem like a big deal, but I won my first Deathmatch and Instagib today. It was so satisfying. I found that if I keep playing I automatically get a lot better. This all happened because of your (extremely) helpful videos. I cannot thank you enough. An even more surprising thing is that I did all of this with visor as a f2p. Thank you Zy

Really love these Quake tips videos, even if being a veteran I already know all of this. It is still interesting to see different point of view than mine or different ways to get the same result. ID Software/Bethesda should be hiring you to make Tutorial videos cause that's one major problem in this game, it has no decent tutorial to help new players and avoid them rage quitting.

+1 It's reasonable for FFA modes to set it up just this way, from a 180. Wrist movers will end up at 19-22 cm/360, and this is pretty comfortable (medium sens, high FOV). For Duels and TDM games where you know where the enemy will come, you can go low sens, 30+ cm/360, and low FOV to camp narrow angles, wall edges, etc. But even then, some top players prefer medium sens for comfort and close quarters spray and tracking.

Here is a tip for ya that nobody can show you... just PLAY THE GAME. Over time you will get better, trust me on this. Most of us were straight trash when we started Quake. The more you play the more you'll learn the movement and how to aim. Seriously, the best tip I can give you when aiming rockets is do NOT actually spam. Spam when you need too such as item and area denial. Don't be afraid to take your time in a fight to shoot AND contemplate. This is how you'll learn basic enemy movements and prediction well. It is perfectly fine to take a few hits. If you spam you're actually more likely to waste ammo and not even get the kill because of the time it takes to shoot a rocket and where it lands, and shoot where you think the enemy is going. In fact, I encourage new players to just learn how to be unpredictable with their own movements first to learn how to actually aim better with rockets. P.S Do not focus right away on getting mid airs.... that's usually for more advanced players because they understand rocket delay a little better. Happy fragging, fellas!

I've been changing my sensitivity for many many months now. Going from high as 8cm/360 to low as 50cm/360.. Only to find the ''perfect sensitivity''. Turns out, there may be some options out there which might suit you more than others but the most important thing is not overthinking it like i did. Your sensitivity is not even that important. As explained in the video, game sense could earn you more kills than just aim. What is important though if you want to get good, is that you stick to one setting, learn/study the game you're playing and *Practice* a lot. But what helped me find my optimal sensitivity is flciking targets and choosing the most accurate sensitivity. I ended up with 26cm/360. The perfect sensitivity approximation (PSA) guide didn't work for me.

I've always based my sensitivity on a comfortable 180° flick in most of the games :)

To make make sensitivity consistent over all my games I use an a4 paper, the with of the paper is 180 degree in game.

it can be helpful to play a round of instagib and care a lot about accuracy in that round after youve changed your settings.. that way you can benchmark yourself with different settings and check if the newest adjustment youve made even has the potential for positive impact

Your videos are inspiring me to buy Quake Champions, it looks so fun!

If you try to achieve a certain accuracy, you're going to change the way you play just to reach it. I used to be super concerned about accuracy, and I'd carefully line up every shot and only fire when I was sure I'd hit. I'd often reach 60% rail accuracy but I'd lose a lot of fights because I was shooting only when I saw a really clear shot. Now I just shoot, even if I think I'll miss. If I miss, then I can hide behind cover. If I hit, then I hit. Don't worry about it. I also see people who let go of the mouse button when they start missing on LG or MG. Just keep holding the button unless you really need to flick to make a correction. If you're conciously paying attention to when you hold the button as you aim, you're gonna miss out on damage.

When I play FFA I usually pick B.J. and use automatic weapons which usually goes amazing with his ability Whenever I get quad i feel unstoppable with nailgun (my most used and best weapon, also the hardest gun in the game) adding his ability makes you even more stronger. 40 per nail

Hey RJN! Was wondering if you could help me out with choosing a mouse. My hands are 7 inches long by 3.75 inches wide. I’ve used if I can remember correctly the original deathadder chroma, gpro, fk2, g403, and my current rival 600. I’ve found that All of those mice weren’t comfortable for me. Maybe because they were too big, or even because of the cable being an issue. A heavy or light mouse would work fine but I do use fingertip/claw if that helps at all. I was trying to look through your recommendations but I feel that the hand range is far too wide to pick one specific mouse. I love what you do and thank you for helping so many people become the best at their select game!

Hello Zy, can you help me, please ? I have a question about mouse sensitivity. I play a lot of cs go and my sens are 2.0 @ 400dpi. My Musclememory is trained. I want to play Quake and I want to be good there too, but 2.0 @ 400dpi is too slow for quake. Do you think I destroy my muscle memory when I play quake with a higher sens than cs go and switch between both games. Or should I rather find a mean for both games to have the same goal. Or I have to decide for one of the games. What do you think?

I used to think that quake was paid, but now I know that it is free I will definitely be playing this, I have been looking for a competitive game that's fresh, fortnite is broken cs is getting a bit old and although i'm happy with league I'm not very good at mobas. I love high-skill movement in games and quake is already really fun to me. The strafing is a bit different and im getting used to it but its so much damn fun. Loving the videos man.

I started playing today and I genuinely love this game. I just switched to the g203 even though I have large hands I like feeling like I can fully drive the mouse and move it. Love it more than the ultralight. Anyway. I love this game. I played my first game and did ok. Then proceeded to get pooped on 8 games in a row. Still had a blast

great video, but why don't you mention mouse acceleration as that is basically what allows you to do fast 180's and 360's with low sens. Pros like cypher, clawz, killsen, raisy, base and many others use it.

I love this game, I can not wait for my 27inch curved 144hz 1ms monitor to get here so I can play again!! I'm at level 31 and I would say that I am above average in skill but not too much above it. you didnt say a word about mouse accel, from an "20 years old quake veteran" thats a bit disapointing :( i highly recommend people watch kovaak's RU-vid videos and blog on the subject of mouse acceleration in competitive fps and how it can improve your aim and reaction time both at once, especially if you are a big fan of ultra low sens for long range tracking and accuracy He also presents povohat mouse accel driver which is basically reproducting quake accel but with a lot more tweaking options and in a much more intuitive way with a graph showing you how your accel will behave and most importantly that works in any games if you want to keep your accel settings to other games than quake :)
