VQ3 dueling is nothing compared to the skill that was needed in QuakeWorld or even CPMA. VQ3 armor system/weapon balance/physics are about as noob as you can possibly make Quake style gameplay.

beanwithbacon Don't be fucking stupid. Why do you think the PREMIER event at QuakeCon / Intel Extreme ... ALL the major Cybergames FPS stages for the last 15 years has been OSP / VQ3 and not CPMA? If the best FPS gamers in the world, the best Quake 3 master of all time, constantly picked OSP / VQ3 as their choice of movement and mechanics, it is because it is the best one and requires the most skill. How many CPM players have gone into OSP / VQ3 and won tournaments? ZERO! Why? Cos they can't handle the movement / item timings / prediction weapon switching and situation control. OSP requires a shitload more skill than just straffing around the map at 200mps and flicking shots all over the place. Get real. Idiot.

TheVanillatech Aiming at slower moving targets with more predictable movement speed = easier. In turn the slow VQ3 movement along with it's terribly dumbed down armor system just makes the game far more predictable. "Positioning" as a lot of VQ3 players like to use it as they're main argument is so much easier in VQ3 because the movement allows you to put your opponent in situations that they can't get out of due to the simplified movement. It's far more campy/baity gameplay and thus is much easier to aim/strategize in than in CPMA. Everything that you listed and claim takes more skill in VQ3 is actually the opposite because of the slow pace and simplified mechanics of the gameplay.

Inferiority complex much? They're two entirely different kinds of FPS for different kinds of audience. Rapha performing in both games shows how much more open-minded he is than you on top of being a better player

well this is actually skill, since quakelive duels seem so elitist, year after year you see the same guys competing, being a top player is so hard, and for overwatch... it's the same thing blizzard always does, a game for the masses

Там даже по стате видно, что лучше. Обидно, да. Но это ж квейк - тут и везение важно, и стратегия. Рафа как будто лучше предсказывал, что ивил будет делать в ключевые моменты. В общем, один фиг - поединок вышел отменный, и оба игрока по сути одинаково заслуживают быть названными лучшими.

Боже вспомните за всю историю q3 года этак с 2004, я не помню таких уродов... Живу в Беларуси, на v4 еще щеглом малым ходил Сайфер помню, который в 15 лет выиграл путёвку на ESWC но его не пустили по возрасту и поехал Кипер.... Школа Русско-Белорусско-Украинская стояла на контроле и аиме... На экшене! У зарубежников тоже самое.. Cad avr Yes, I did, it was boring as fuck to watch too fools play cat and mouse with shitty fucking zero skill movement which in turn gives this game very simplistic strategy.

Cad avr It's really difficult to consider anything VQ3 Quake. It's the farthest from true Quake gameplay while still maintaining the bare minimum of what is needed for it to be called a Quake game as possible. Even Quake 4 was more Quake than Quake 3 / Quake Live is.

You don't have to play smarter in Qlive though because the gameplay is much shallower and your opponent has far less options available to them at any time. There is a legitimate purpose to +back, but the point I was making is that VQ3 allows for that style of play more than any other form of Quake and due to the simplistic movement of VQ3 it's very easy to +back and rail since the simplified movement and lack or air control and the lack of the bunnyhop just make aiming much much easier overall. VQ3 is way more campy/baity and far less agressivenes. The exact opposite of what Quake started out as. CPMA requires far more over all PHYSICAL skill to play than VQ3 does, the fact that it's strat is also deeper is just a bonus.

You can't compare chess a turn based game to Quake. Just because a game is slower doesn't mean it has more strategy. If that were the case I could easily argue that Warcraft 1 has far more strategy than any of Blizzards later RTS games. CPMA has far more options and abilities for the player to utilize and his opponent to have to react to than VQ3 thus making you have to think more about what they may do in any situation while also forcing you to be able to think and judge said situation much more quickly. Smarter positioning as you claim Quake Live has is actually much easier to learn and just makes the game a much bigger camp fest than having to master the movement of CPMA. QLive is just positioning yourself so you can easily put a player into a situation they cannot get out of due to the very simplistic movement. Sorry, but that's fucking EASY compared to the reaction time and map knowledge required to play CPMA well. There's zero logic to your statement "Quake Live is a slower more technical game with more avenues to learn". In CPMA you have to master far more movement abilities and know the intricies of a map much more seeing as how a lot of the enhanced movement abilities rely on map geometry. QuakeLive doesn't even allow you to fucking bunnyhop... Stackable armor and it's ridiculously dumbed down spawn system just makes knowing where the opponent will be much more predictable. Oh and probably the MOST NOOB aspect of Vanilla especially in duels is the fact that they show you the seconds in the on screen game clock. FFS learn to time in your head like we did in the original days of Quake and don't even try to argue that you can't possibly do that with more than 1 item at a time or as precisely, I can, and I've watched thousands of players over the years be able to do the same thing... When you are forced to you learn how to, unless you totally suck and need all the hand holding game design you can get. Honestly you just sound like some idiot kid that started with Quake 3 / QuakeLive and assumed that it was deep because it still is compared to most other FPS games, but can't accept the fact that it was PURPOSELY DESIGNED TO BE MORE SIMPLISTIC AND EASIER TO LEARN TO BRING NEW PLAYER TO THE GAME!!!! Quake without the bunnyhop simply isn't Quake....
