+Lord Shred haha thanks! If people enjoy watching this stuff, I'll try to get some vids together showing off some of the smoother moves in actual play.
+HlusaLukysek yeah there will always be a server somewhere in the world, would be great if it was more popular though. Thanks and I used to use picmip 7, but I think it's a placebo, so now I just like it looking somewhat decent.
This is an old video so I doubt I'll get a response but I'll try anyway: how do you gauge when you want to commit to a fight with the risk of getting harmed, or just get your damage in and immediately get out the area? Sounds simple on paper but the better you are at differentiating between the two situations the more you can get away with. And I'm bad at this lol.
Math: Is your stack bigger than his? If it is, are is combat skills better than yours? How much damage is he going to do to you before you kill him. All comes down to math really
Only just finding your videos now and it's making me wish I was playing on pc earlier for things like quake. Played halo 3 and had skill 50 on 3 accounts and that's the closest I've come to an arena shooter :( really want to get into quake but servers are super hard to come by (from UK). Do you suggest I just start now and try and get as good as possible for when Quake champions comes out? Or shall I just stick to cs? Love the vids dude :)
It's hard to get a game in Quake, but for $5 on Steam... even if you just played bots, it'll definitely give you a chance to develop a feel for it before Champions is out. I'd say it's worth it. I still get a game here and there, but the Australian community is fairly dedicated!
+Rocket Jump Ninja thanks for the quick reply :) been playing most of the day and can feel myself getting better, still getting used to the aim, but certainly enjoying it. It really reminds me of a bare bones halo 3 which is super nice. Thanks again :)
+Rocket Jump Ninja hey so I'm thinking of getting quake live and I really like the idea of it sounds really fun, but I'm worried how many people still play.i live on the west coast in the us. Of course you might not know, but are there a fair amount of players that play?
Have you played the updated UT4 Alpha? If yes what is your opinion? The engine is a killer. Really smooth, fast, beautiful and not that demanding. Excellent mouse handling as well.
+zeus1117 I have, it's good, but the engine isn't as good as id Software engines... looks pretty, doesn't have the same awesome feel though. The new DOOM feels great.
Rocket Jump Ninja OK, i got it. Im guessing if they would add a mutator or slider to the game speed, one could actually enjoy the animations more. Now it is really fast paced. The mouse handling though is awesome. I wish the new Doom had this as well.
zeus1117 What makes you say the mouse handling is awesome? I had some issues with it... seemed ok last time I played but still not perfect, maybe I just need more time to adjust it.
Rocket Jump Ninja I meant it in UT4 Alpha! Doom Beta is really FAR away from RAW mouse input. In the new UT4 alpha you have pretty much the same mouse handling as in CS:GO, which is way more responsive than in the Doom Beta.
Gj bro.My friends are silver in cs go and i have played this game since 2002 (cs 1.6) never have played cs:s but i was semi-pro at cs 1.6 and cs go.So yea i teach them how to play XD
+GreenSharked yeah my friends said they would own me in Quake, so we played at a LAN and they never played Quake again. At least your friends kept playing!
I uses to play it a lot back when it was f2p... but since it was added in steam I dind't like the changes... now fue game is a retail producto... does it worth a buy?
+Hobo Ramirez I actually like the changes in the Quake Live update on Steam now... lots of features, and they seem to be adding a few extras for us too. We get to play custom maps again!
+Hobo Ramirez oh we always disable those, I haven't seen a loadout in ages. Plus I play mainly CA, but in CTF they're disabled. All the servers are run by individuals now, so they set them up the way Quake should be played. It's good! Wait for the next sale when it's $2 or so.
A year late but hey, why not: it's hard to go so low that it is objectively incorrect. Past a certain point it because unpractical because of how much space you need and how far you need to move your arm. But within reason, and 16 inch is within that reason, do what you want. What is more important is how you want to play. There are many ways to be good at quake. High sens innately works better for fast players who enjoy rocketmonkeying around the map, as it allows them to easily respond to anything happening around them. It makes tracking trickier. But you can still make it work on low sense by just getting in the habit of moving your arm faster. Low sens, by default, instills a calmer way to play. You don't perform as many actions per minute, but you make the ones you do count all the more. While everyone is pogoing around like mad, you carefully place and track shots others with an ease others will not have. This will require game knowledge to pull off. You will need to be in the right place at the right time. High sense has a higher chance of overshooting targets, unable to get a lock with tracking, and a minor twitch can throw your aim off by a mile... yet practice and a stable hand can overcome that issue. One thing to consider, if you want to go really low, is to increase vertical sensitivity. This is because default mouse arm positioning makes it easier to quickly sweep horizontally, but vertical is a different story. It's not uncommon for arm friction to get in the way. It's easier if you just have to move your wrist. Another way, if you want to keep your horizontal and vertical speed similar, is to look into accel settings. You probably already know all about accel but just in case: activating accel makes the speed you move your mouse at influence your sens setting dynamically. If you have a rock solid hand and good hand-eye coordination it is great. It combines the great parts of high sense and low sense all into one package that is intuitive for those who can develop a feel for it. For most of us, it's a coordination nightmare that will leave you reeling in horror.
Thx, gave me the info I wanted regarding guns and general game mechanics. Tracking-wise ,after so much CS,i'm used to tracking with mouse, but will give your way a try. What is your sens btw, I'm currently sitting @ 52cm/360 aka 1000DPI @ 0.8sens. I've been usually playing FFA, a bit too "in my face" though.
Glad I covered the answers, was guessing what you might want to know. I use roughly 28cm/360 I think... 3200DPI @ .47, will be doing DPI tests in a video soon to see which is best... I have seen problems with anything under 2000. And yeah FFA is terrible, we don't play that. CTF, Clan Arena and Duel are most popular.
Been trying to play Clan Arena , but everything is too fast paced ,coming from CS. The required aim for Quake is much more advanced , I suck quite a bit. I'm a GE in CS ,yet suck at this one.. :( It gives me flashbacks to my first CS days, learning curve is very steep, it seems
