Congrats! This is a huge accomplishment indeed. I still remember from my own days of speedrunning Quake how damn hard it is to get monsters to cooperate on Nightmare skill, let alone in a marathon run! How often was an otherwise perfect run ruined by a stray fiend with a lucky punch in E3M5... Some interesting route decisions here which make total sense in a marathon run, notably the E2 levels and E3M2. Also, picking E2 as the first episode and still pulling of all those E1 and E4 tricks afterwards is nothing short of remarkable!
6:05 -6:06 - For me, it is hard to believe that someone actually make a jump like that. I still can´t jump that way. This defy the physics laws, I guess... 6:21-6:23 - Another absurd jump that I don´t know how it is done it.
Actually, the first of the two jumps you mention is fairly easy to do (I mean, I could do it...). Rather counter-intuitively, though, you have to shoot the window beforehand because there's an invisible wall in the way.
I know it doesn't matter which order you do the episodes in but has it changed for a reason. In 2014 Coolkid during his AGDQ run was doing the episodes in 4-3-1-2 and here you are doing it 2-4-1-2
Basically, most of weapons in E4 is only available once throughout the episode. (Not counting in the secret level). And this message is to warn you that you did not pick up the weapon from this level.
I forget what all the level selections at the start mean. Lol All I know is, this was an awesome game when I was a kid. And I used cheats to pass it and to try and find all the secrets in the game.
Difficult settings and 'stories'. Like Doom had Shores of Hell and Knee-Deep in the Dead Quake had 4 different stories that you select by running down a certain path. Before that you select difficulty by moving down one of 3 halls. If you are crazy and want nightmare you had to go towards the fourth story, drop through some water and head down the secret passage. From the manual - so bad that it was hidden, so people won't wander in by accident
@@kukkyee to be fair you dont need to bunnyhop that part you can just jump cross. they didnt really thought that one through while making the level haha. but yeah if you want to go fast then sure bunnyhop is the way. but even without you could do it in like 8/9 seconds.
Is it possible to emulate the original version like we can now even for doom, or build engine games? Or a patch? I won't buy a broken version with no musics and I don't feel like patching everything manually... If it's even possible.
Somethings is wrong. I mean the run is impressive and how you managed not to get killed but as i remember quake wasnt this fast. Did you fast forward it somehow? I still play Quake on steam btw
@@kukkyee im not an expert in computer games or mods or whatever but this is quakes actual speed during gameplay ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EbCHIYXBts0.html
he is constantly bunnyhopping. that way you get speed. it was a mechanic in the quake engine. same as rocket/grenade jumping. quake popularized both of those mechanics.
why is there a wall in the end there, where you are supposed to see the quakeguy doing a telefrag? also have you considered speedrunning the expansion packs?
Woah man, you are so smart, how we couldn't see that? I don't know how I missed that, tbh, and seems like you are the only one aware of what happened there. This guy is totally a cheater, cause is not like there is something called *telefrag* in Quake where an enemy that teleports on your location it gets totally rekt because of how telefrag works in Quake, right?
That is false the record is 11:52 I regret that i didn't save that video from back 1999 year. It was 320 x 240 p resolution and that is no where near of that video. Unfotuntatelly could not find it anywhere online :(
@@kukkyee ofcouse one single go. But i clearly remember the gameplay it was insane, it was some japanese guy :) he was typing messages for the viewers in the game console that you can fetch with ~ :) I remember doing some insane 360 rocket jumps, getting to elevetor and typing DID YOU LIKE THAT :) unfortunately it is not online cuz it was from the 90s and back then there was not programs to record easily game play phootage :(
