Or not, I have HID kit and I rise them up just a little bit, it improves my vision on the road, not high enough to totally blind, somebody, but high enough, people flash their highbeams at me, because they think mine are on… And then I flash mine back, and then I really blind somebody
@@MrMike-fi7kd you can’t talk sense into someone who increases their antisocial behaviour they are aware of when someone points it out. He’s likely suffering from an untreatable personality disorder
@@MrMike-fi7kdtrue that. It's sad that rather than address the problem he chooses to flash the other drivers to "really blind them" which is just immature and dangerous

Fellow drivers like you get blinded by that "beam pattern" concentrating light in your rearview. What more brightly lights up the road for a driver will blind others. There needs to be more regulations limiting "quality", as it is called, here. AAA is working on this.
It concentrates the beam but also keeps it low....so unless ur riding some1s ass ur not blinding them....there concentrated ...down...with low lumens so it has to be narrow beam pattern to see 5 feet of road ahead
Its designed to be lower than ur rear view unless ur in a high truck...there in low car and ur riding there ass...there's a reason why dot and automakers make em this way
As someone with astigmatism I hate these overly bright bulbs, even in the passenger seat I cannot see my lane when someone passes by with overly bright headlights so the controlled beam of light really should be the standard
Agree 100% I have Glaucoma, and driving at night is hard enough for me! It's really aggravating when you get BLINDED by these overly bright headlights! They should be outlawed for use on the road!
The only use for those garbage leds are in farm vehicles that you only drive in private property and would benifit from the light going in all directions. You would blind any incoming traffic with those garbage 360 leds😂
@@joshuatk59 no beam should ever be thrown too high. Even at high beam there is always a pre defined cut off. You don't need to light the sky up to see the road.
Many farmers in my area have to drive on the road to get to the fields they are working. So it’s not even that useful then. Just throwing a light rack on top would be much better.
@meegssan5716 LED is great when done right, didn't you see the video? Many cars are starting to come with LEDs from factory which also means better, safer integration. They're brighter, clearer, more efficient, and last longer. The efficiency part also becomes more important with hybrids and EVs. The longevity means fewer people driving with high beams just because they don't wanna be pulled over for having a headlight out but are too lazy to replace it
Need much better headlight regulation, especially on hilly rural roads, when someone comes over the hill with those Death Star rays on it’s instant blindness
@@ninjalol2253 white line? Like on the right hand side? The roads I’m talking about only have one lane, so there is a yellow line down the middle, is that the line you mean?
@@gruntslayer3524you're in the sticks then. Look at the outside edge of the road. Here in Ohio, some roads have a white line on the outside edge (where they should be), but not all do. Look at the outside edge of the road (to your right.) You can still see the road and hold your lane, but aren't getting entirely blinded.
The biggest downside to upgrading incandescent to led headlights (when using the good bulbs) is that they are so much brighter that people think your high-beams are on, and flash you. Just compare the yellow beam at the beginning with the white beam at the end, which is so bright, the camera is clipping. It’s important to have bulbs that produce light from the exact same location so that the parabolic reflector aims that light to the correct place on the road and not blind oncoming traffic. It’s perfectly legal to sell non DOT equipment, but they leave it up to you to honor the fact they are not road legal, and not use them in public roads.
Like oem LED’s that blind people ? Being an OEM meat gobbler doesn’t mean you’re doing the right thing you realize? Those same oem’s cheat emissions and other things but have fun
The problem with headlights today is they're brighter than high beams. It blinds you. What do high beams constitute? In the past, you'd be pulled over and sited for having your brights on.
@@stancexpunksjust turn your high beams off. Led bulbs don’t blind people if you get the proper style of bulbs. Main issue still is people don’t turn their fucking high beams off ever.
As someone who works night shift and has an astigmatism, bulbs like the garbage ones should be illegal to use on the road. It’s not hard to tell when someone is using a cheap LED bulb because they completely blind me even when I’m looking at the edge of the road. Really wish there were tighter restrictions on stuff like this that is a safety concern
I work midnight hours on the road, so I encounter these blinding lights continually. I bought the yellow lens night glasses to wear and an anti-glare rearview mirror to help ease the oncoming and behind death ray lights! I doubt these led lights are going away anytime soon. Many people are entirely too self-centered to care about others' safety.
I have 5% tint on my back window so even if someone high beams me it doesn’t bother me. Side window tints also help for light coming through your side mirror check your local laws on tints tho.
@@dcm1378so then by that logic, just drive with all the worst equipment. No horn, no AC, bald tires, engine firing on half the cylinders, cracked bulbs, etc. Can't be any more dangerous, right? Why spend more on the other safety equipment if the brakes are shit anyways, right? Can't be a slippery slope fallacy if there is no slope
Really wish more people knew the science behind this. Extremely useful if your gonna upgrade your lights. For the people that are running full light bars in broad daylight or anytime on the highway yall need your license revoked.
So, for anyone wondering, the stock reflectors are designed for a point light source where the filament would be located using a stock bulb. Even if you took that stock bulb and moved it forward or backward a centimeter or so it would completely change the beam pattern because the light would be reflected at a different angle than it was designed for. Therefore, when you stick a poorly designed LED bulb in there that has light sources spread out all over it, the pattern that gets reflected will be all over the place too. That is why a quality LED replacement bulb has only two small high intensity LED chips placed at a specific point so that it can mimic the filament the reflector was designed for. Most vehicles that come with LED headlights from the factory have a completely different style of reflector from the ones used by filament based bulbs so that it can be tuned to the particular size and shape of the LED chip being used.
i hate both equally. while i dont have photosensitive epilepsy, strobing light annoyed me to the point i wanted to hammer their lights!. slow blink like F1 brake lights are fine but fast ones is a big nope
I've bought SV4 LEDs from HR for my old 2013 Edge. I will be buying GTR CSP LEDs for my 2011 Tahoe from HR soon. They're small enough to fit in the tight area behind the assemblies and although nice and bright, won't blind the hell out of incoming traffic. I've said it before and I'll say it again; cheap isn't good and good isn't cheap.
I used to work at a toll booth and i would tell everyone that came through that had high beams on to turn them off. The cops on this strech of highway will ticket you. Most people turn them off. But the most entitled response I ever got was "Its fine honey i cant see at night so i need them." Came from and older black lady. I told her, thats at the detriment to every other driver that passes you. Your okay with that? She told me that they would be fine, nothing is going to hurt them. That's which i replied that many studies today would disagree with that. And that kinda thinking isnt fair to every other driver. She replied again that I worry too much and that shes fine. I said okay well i hope you dont get any tickets and imma pray you find it in your heart not to blind others. And she laughed and pulled off. The light had been green since i originally told her about the cops on the highway. I had cleared her to go through at the beginning of the conversation. @@jakelonghorn9852 it's because it contains so much blue light, which our eyes perceive as so much brighter even though its the same output. That's why even misadjusted halogens aren't as bad as low quality LEDs
Does your truck have projector headlamps? I just bought some Sealight bulbs for my car that has projector headlamps so not sure how the beam pattern would be like
Back in the day, when we wanted to upgrade to HID or LED, we actually made sure we had projectors. Halogen headlights can’t aim LEDs and HIDs correctly.
Well you gotta aim the fuckin things. I have the sv4 in these housings and I had to adjust my lights down because the LED bulbs did have a higher cutoff.
I also think a lot of drivers don’t understand the idea of high beams, they’re not for just seeing further when you feel like it, you’re blinding others when you drive with them on all the freaking time.
Also when changing your halogen to LEDs I recommend tuning the beam (most headlights allow you to angle the beam yourself with a screwdriver) if you're gonna buy garbage. At least aim it at the ground.
Your channel helped me with a lot of decision making when it came to upgrading my halogens to LEDs. Good info here. I'm glad to see most people around me that have done the same bought the right bulbs and made sure they were installed correctly.
The Amazon ones are illegal: you cannot have anything but 3-4 LEDS on a 2-sided flat lamp, like the good one shown in this video is legal. You can get ticketed for those Amazon ones.
Dude, all LED and HID conversion kits are technically illegal. The replacement bulb must be the same type and spec that was installed by the vehicles manufacturer. This is why all reputable LED bulb manufacturers use the disclaimer: " FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY". With that said....There are some better made LED bulbs with a better beam pattern and better cooling but the only type of bulb that belongs in a reflector housing is a conventional halogen. To get the best results from a conversion kit the bulbs should be a 55-65 watt flat stalk design with 1-3 diodes per side with a rotatable collar for adjusting installed in a projector housing. Improperly installed, cheap, over powered, incorrect color temp LEDs are just as bad as the cheap ass HID kits that hit the scene in the early 2000's. All the so called performance shops carried them and installed them and had everybody driving around with blue and purple headlights blinding oncoming traffic until municipalities started cracking down on them and had police issuing equipment violations left and right. You waited for a ticket or waited for the cheap ass ballast to fail, whichever came first.
@@RellyOhBoy Korea and Japan have some road legal LEDs from Philips and they do works darn good. even better than halogens!. thing is, those LED kits uses emmiters as tiny as halogen filament and some even smaller. that's one key factor out of several things to make a good LED retrofit

I prefer the second one, i can see the deer better When you are being blinded you were taught to look at the white line here in America works like a charm
When you installed the 360 bill it looked like it was hanging out in the headlight housing causing light to escape. The last bulb you put in was set in perfect no light escaped the back end

I often watch your videos with regards to LED bulbs and they are impressive. However, I have yet to see you do a video on the Merc SLK R172 stock light conversion to LED. El cheapo bulbs though ugly is in certin situations is actually way better at providing a wide flood view of all close surroundings. Say offroad. Not super priced, leaves no blinds spots. The more area lit up the more you can see
SB4 is amazing i have it in my Ram truck. It changed my life. My wife has a newer SUV and after driving hers my stock bulbs seemed so dim so i replaced them with the SB4 and they changed the game.
All these times I thought people's headlights were too bright. Turns out they just had crappy bulbs that have no beam pattern. Thank you for the education!
Ive seen a few videos about those LED headlights needing to be scraped off quite often in a colder environment... but the older bulbs produce heat to melt the snow and ice in the winter.. it would be nice to see either way 😅
It's a non issue. If you're getting enough snow that it covers the headlights, you're brushing and scraping snow off your windshield and windows anyways. It takes 10 extra seconds to scrape the headlights. (Speaking as someone from NE Ohio where we get snow by the foot)
@@justinfrye965 I've never had that problem at all and have never seen it happen. Unless you have a really rare icing condition where the snow can stick well, I've never had a buildup on my car. Still, if this actually is a problem in some areas (which I don't doubt), there could be legislation mandating headlight deicers, almost like the traffic light deicers that already exist. That wouldn't be such a bad idea in general, to be honest. I'd definitely pay extra for better deicers and defrosters in cars.
Honestly it amazes me how many people have a problem with HID/LED bulbs. Stock bulbs are barely bright enough to see the road on front of you and I’ve ran HIDs on my truck since 2009, never once got in trouble for it. They are brighter and safer for me, as well as beating on the cheaper end depending on what you get. I ran them as my low beams and never had a single issue 🤷♂️
I bought the SV4 low & high beams for my Ram reflectors. The low beams quit working just over 2 yrs after installing. Still have the highs with zero problems. They both are much better than stock for sure. Just wish the lows lasted longer.
You can get sober stars for half the price, just because it cost more doesn't mean it's better. These kids nowadays run around with bright ass headlights like it makes their car faster, it's a dangerous when you're blinding other people.
This is why I have $5,000 in light bars and pods on my trucks. So I can send peoples retinas to their final resting place for having horribly aimed lights and cheap leds. Vision X truly is superior lighting.
Problem is those cheap bulbs give people the illusion of better light output, so they keep using them. Plus they’re not much more expensive than quality halogen bulbs.
Any LED bulb that doesn't accurately mimic the position of a halogen filament should not be put into a halogen housing. 1st generation LEDs are a disaster because of the central heat sink. Copper substrate 1860 chips placed central to the heat sink work best for reflectors and halogen projectors. 3570 chips work best for HID projectors due to the large capsule on HID bulbs. Clocking the LED is also important! I'll never buy a bulb that cannot be rotated in its base. If it's not set vertical in the housing, it can skew the beam or cause the beam pattern to be higher on the side with oncoming traffic.
2 issues with cheap bulbs Their color is not optimal for night vision. If they go too high into the Blue they strain your eyes and you actually see less far which makes manufactures sell them at higher brightness than a regular halogen. The issue you noticed here. People also have a tendancy to put them in old cars with foggy headlight covers, wich does the same thing this video covers.
