Quarantine Cooking: Puppy Chow Recipe 

My family loves Puppy Chow; we make it in a very large plastic bowl that has a lid so we can pour on the powdered sugar, put the lid on & shake it. Every piece of cereal gets coated that way. Thanks Paula!

We always make this in a large ziploc bag to reduce cleanup, plus it’s good for storage. Not much to store when you make this, though. It’s gone in minutes.

Put it in a bag to coat or a plastic tub with a lid to coat with the powdered sugar and shake or gently turn it

This is much easier if you put the cereal in big plastic ziploc bags then pour the chocolate in and shake it up. Then add the sugar and shake again. No mess at all! I make it for my kids.

This is one of my favorite snacks!...my friends and I always mixed it by shaking it in a paper grocery bag to avoid the mess. Works every time :)

Dear Paula, I sent this to your publicist but have no idea if it will ever make it to you so I wanted to post it here as well :) I have thoroughly enjoyed your quarantine cooking videos and they actually inspired us for a fundraiser at the charity I run in Cincinnati, We're the region's social justice charity federation, Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati, working on women's issues, LGBTQ rights, racial equity, environmental sustainability, animal welfare, and similar causes, and our annual cooking competition gala we hold each fall was cancelled this year due to COVID restrictions. But your RU-vid videos during this time gave me the idea to have our competitors submit recipes and demonstration videos instead so we could put together a virtual cookbook that we'll be "selling" in November to help replace the revenue lost by canceling our event. And people will still be able to vote for their favorite recipes :) To give our participants an example of how we hope they'll do their videos, our two-person staff taped one for them to show how it's done. It makes it easier to put the mixture in a large brown paper sack from the grocery store and shake real good.

Paula I made this years ago and I used a bag to shake the stuff in. The original recipe was on the Chex cereal box.

What that needs is some flaked coconut and some chow mein noodles

Paula, I love Puppy Chow. When I make it, I use a large clean paper bag from the store. I put the cereal in, pour chocolate mixture then shake shake shake. I add the powdered sugar and do the same. It is evenly coated and looks perfect every time. No mess, throw away the bag.

Well, there goes my weight watcher points till the year 2025!! LOL!!

Before I add my confection sugar I put my sugar in a big paper grocery bag and add the mix fold down the top of the bag and shake then when it’s coated scoop it out and put on wax paper on your table and let it sit for 15 minutes then put in plastic bags. Enjoy

A great way to mix it up is to put in a big plastic bag and then a big paper sack to coat and shake the powdered sugar layer. So good!

I used the crunchy peanut butter in mine not to much powder sugar o I add nut with the chocolate and almond extract instead of vanilla and in zip lock bags thanks for sharing you guys have a wonderful day and take care 🍫💜

We love this! My boys used to make it with me and put it in little bags with a bow to share with teachers and school staff at Christmas. Always a welcome treat! We made it in a big bowl with a lid so the boys could shake it to coat in sugar. 😋

If you'd put the powdered sugar in a paper bag and then dump the chocolate/cereal mix over top, you can roll down the top of the bag a bit and then just shake it. You don't break it all to pieces like that. We call it Puppy Chow.
