this video is a quarantined college week in my life! i took you through a uc Santa Cruz college week in my life at home in quarantine and my midterms, proctoru, book haul and more! it was a bit different from my normal college week in the life at ucsc and more of a quarantine edition! i also shared some enrollment advice for classes and class enrollment at ucsc to hopefully help some of you guys out!

Thank you so much for adding in the enrollment advice at the end! It was really helpful and it gave me a better look at how to setup my classes, especially with a four year plan. I do have one question though, in the online orientation I think it says that we can take a max of 15 credits per quarter. Will the registrar limit how many classes I can sign up/waitlist for depending on how many credits each class is? Again, thank you for helping out (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

So normally during your first pass enrollment you can take up to 12 units most classes are 5 units with some classes having 2 unit labs this allows you to take 2 classes and a lab during your first enrollment time and then take 7 more units during your second enrollment a (one more class and 2 more units for maybe a lab class ) so in total you could take 3 classes and 2 labs total ! i hope that answers your question and explains it well!

Not sure if this helps, but I took 4 5-credit classes last quarter (although honestly would not recommend). During open enrollment you can add up to 22 units if your GPA is above a certain amount (I think 3.5?). Open enrollment is a third enrollment date that happens for everyone after the first and second enrollment times that she mentioned above!

Your agenda is so cute ! Also I like how realistic you are in studying and the headband like sis I felt that ;3; Do u know how students are going to schedule their next year classes ? Bc of quarantine, idk how to talk to an advisor. But at least I have reddit for advice ? Also, I love that 4-year plan idea ! This video was super helpful :> I’m not confident in enrolling but you touch upon a lot of important topics so i feel a bit more relaxed ^^

thank u sm! enrollment is done through the ucsc portal and you can email your college advising/department advising (you can find this on UCSC's website) and they can either help you over email or through zoom office hours! I'm glad i could help! honestly enrollment is scary and confusing but you will do great!!!

Quick question as an incoming freshman who's planning to double major in theatre arts and psych, should I focus on my psych/gen ed requirements during the remote learning of fall quarter instead of the more hands-on classes of the theatre arts department, or do you think that, with class size and difficulty of psych courses, focusing on arts would be better this year? thank you so much for any help!!

i think focusing on psych makes a lot of sense!the psych professors i’ve had since online learning started have been super accommodating and understanding which has made it easier to keep up with even though the classes are online and quite large! hopefully that way you can learn the most from both of your majors (-:

yes i believe there is! if you go to your major departments ucsc page there should be a category for undergraduate advising with an email of contact and zoom links for drop in peer advising! as an example here is the psych advising page: psychology.ucsc.edu/undergraduate/advising/index.html hope that helps!
