Come along with us as we explore one of Tennessee's longest caves, which has over 40 miles of cave passage! On today's trip, we will crawl for over 1/4 mile and will see paw print tracks from an extinct jaguar, gypsum flowers, gypsum crystals, and even gypsum beards and needles!

It is a very nice property and we wish we could get up that way more often. We are very thankful for him, he has an amazing cave. His new project is exciting too!

Oh yes very great guy fortunate to have met him. Fortunate to have been able to see some of this cave and hope to return with some more experienced cavers that will push further.

That was marvelous. I'm just about to roll over to 69, but I'm pretty sure I could do that crawl, though I may have to nap once or twice... Thanks for taking us along on such a beautiful journey.

I remember the day we connected the BO crawl to the M survey, the connection became the MOB survey. It cut several hours off the trip from the way we had been going in .I really enjoyed your video and getting to see the cave again.

Nice, we have heard the other way around was much longer. We had a second group in the cave with us that day and they did the original way around and came out the BO crawl.

You had to go way past the entrance to the shortcut. If I remember correctly you had to go to the Billiard Pocket.

1/4 mile? When I mapped the Cat Turd Passage off Mega Canyon the total crawl for that trip was about a mile.

Imagine the first person to crawl a quarter mile not knowing if it would keep going or if they were going to have to slowly back out.

Oh trust me, we've done some of those crawls not knowing!! What keeps you going is when you feel the AIR blowing. That is what you follow :) :) :)

Wonderful footage! Wow! Those needles are amazing. Thanks for taking us along. I would love to do THAT kind of caving, but my bad back keeps me from bending and twisting. I have been to most the California Caverns: Black Chasm, Moaning Cavern, Mercer, Boyden, etc. I have only seen a couple caverns on Ozark since moving here last year, but plan on touring the other caves around me this summer. Caving is just so neat. It is so nice to have your channel and your educational narration of the incredible beauty inside those caves. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Katy! We are aiming to get back to the Ozarks next year in the spring. Maybe doing the Buffalo River in April after Easter and seeing the solar eclipse too!

Must be a guided tour with stopping points and point information. There is one like this a couple hours away.

This is a privately owned cave, no tour guides here! It is actually the second longest cave in Tennessee with over 40 miles of mapped cave passage. We know the owner and he allows cavers to self guide themselves on trips.

That quarter mile looked like a great area to test out knee pads. That path did have as much gypsum, so didn't get to hear it as much as I'll liked. Glad to see the filter being used. Back in the early 1980's, I took my brother up to the Canadian sub-artic on a two week canue trip. Most of the water was so clear, you could see fish like 20 foot down and they looked only about 4 down. Told my brother, no we still have to boil it. One creek like that, about a mile up it, we found a large dead moose in the creek. We didn't have the filters like today, so had to boil it all and wait for it to cool.

@tag_caver Год назад
I know many people who actually wear two pairs of knee pads going through that crawl! Jason carries his filter in his pack all the time. We use it quite often and you are right, you never know what is upstream!! Always better safe than sorry.

Additionally, there were old names written on the wall back there where there was a hole before the tight spot Tamra went through (that was enlarged and where the ladder is today) through which you could see the passage below, so those people were likely the first to actually see the passage. @@cavitater77
