ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
In this video we show how we quarter a rabbit and package it whole or quartered. We talk about why we package the meat the way we do and how to pack in a way that looks a little more professional. We use a food saver and it's linked at the top if you'd like to try one. Thanks for using the link. It doesn't cost anything and still helps us when you do so thank you for that. We hope you found this video helpful. Thanks for watching.

Why not cut off the hind legs at the hips and then separate them with a breaking knife? Looks like it would give a cleaner cut to the hind legs and more meat.

Have you had to go up in price with increase in feed costs? And do you use regular feed?
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter Год назад
Over the years, we’ve raised our prices, because our services and quality have increased put the rising Feed cost means our rabbits cost more to raise. I can understand wanting to charge more. We buy our hay bales from a farmer -a dozen at a time. Every rabbit gets a big handful a day. We always feed some pellet especially in the winter time but spring, summer and fall, any rabbit three months or older will get a lot of extras from around the property.
@MP-uz5ks
@MP-uz5ks 3 года назад
We got our first rabbits 4 months ago, 2 does, one buck. Up to today no successful breeding. We processed the one female, it was full of fat. The flank steaks were covered in so much fat that they weren't even edible. I gave them to the dogs and they chewed on them as if they were gum... I'm wondering if the guy who sold us those rabbits lied to us (he said they are 4 months old) or if it is our fault, maybe we overfed them. They get 2 cups of pellets a day and some hay. Sometimes a bit of fresh herbs.
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter 3 года назад
I feed a 1/2 cup of pellet in the morning and another 1/2 cup in the evening. Here's a video on what I feed if that interests you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aXmMp1IwlmY.html Sadly folks can get away with that sort of thing. It sounds like you now have the rabbits you need to process at the right age and know your rabbits will be tender. I notice the fat starting to accumulate on the flanks around 6 months.
@MP-uz5ks
@MP-uz5ks 3 года назад
@@TheRabbitryCenter A friend of mine gave me two of his rabbits about a week ago. They are still too young for breeding. So we'll have to wait. OK, I'll cut the amount of pellets in half. Maybe there is still hope for the two fatties... Could be they are also too old. Who knows. Everyone warned me before we got them that they multiply like crazy, and now this!!!!!!! 😅😭 Thanks. Greetings from Greece.

So is that 7-8$ bone in or bone out? And what is a fair price for boneless?
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter Год назад
It greatly depends on what it’s going for in your area. I’d search for rabbit meat near you. Use google. It could be 7$ or it could be more. You don’t have to quarter them. It would add weight. You could charge less if you don’t and then ask if they want it quartered. You could charge a small processing fee. There’s a lot of options it’s up to you.

We sell the frozen hides and keep them for pickling. If we weren’t we’d simply snip in the middle of the back and pull them apart to the head and hocks and snip. Its quick. Thanks for commenting
