Am not a scientist. Nor am I a mathematician. My interest in physics started when since I was in high school when I bought my first book on quantum physics. Am now 55yrs old and my enthusiasm only grew over time. There is so much to discover still and although I am nowhere near the level of understanding of people in this field of study, I sense that we are so close to a major breakthrough. I watch these videos again and again hoping to get more enlightened. Keep up the great work. You have made these concepts easier for people like me to grasp.

What you are describing is a cut and project set, or Model set. The mathematical diffraction measure of any cut and project set is pure point, and, they are a great source for nonperiodic structures. In fact the well known Penrose tilings can be realized as cut and project sets. Having said that, while I agree that cut and project sets should be considered mathematical quasicrystals, it is important to note that there does not exist a unifying definition yet. I am working on this problem actually, and its very interesting. Thank you for helping people get excited about this stuff. I haven't seen anything like this yet. Thumbs up.

i actually have a theory, and hopefully soon, an idea. I just need both opinion, and a second mind to continue this. A quasiperiodic crystal, or quasicrystal, is a structure that is ordered but not periodic. A quasicrystalline pattern can continuously fill all available space, but it lacks translational symmetry. The discovery of these aperiodic forms in nature has produced a paradigm shift in the fields of crystallography. My main interest is it's ability to fill all, if not most of such available space. Depending on the object, matter, or even individual.

I believe we are literally seeing the DNA of the universe emerge in quasi crystals. From the soulless crystals like diamond, crushed beyond life that even life passes through them to crystals that have incredible unique a structures that dont repeat. Almost like a "living" crystal. This might be a form of evolution too.

Crystal, the glass is not a crystal. The glass is just leaded glass. You could just get a piece of quartz for the demonstration.

glass is amorphous? which means it has no large-scale structure. Though on the atomic scale, glass does have crystaline structure?
