I’m 69, was a Queen fan back then, didn’t know anything about Freddie’s sexuality at the time. Times were so different, the words gay, bisexual, etc were not in the mainstream news so much. I just loved him, that’s all I knew. I was temporarily devastated when he passed away from AIDS. It was a huge loss in rock music lover’s lives. Long live Freddie thanks to RU-vid!
No one cared about his sexuality but it was widely known. He didn't make it an issue and didn't have to because his talent transcended it. Something that people should try doing today.
He felt repressed everywhere else and basically took refuge in my hometown, Munich, for many years. There he also did his solo stuff. Our former long-term city mayor had to deal with lasting rumours of him being gay because he liked to have lunch in a world-famous gay hotel + restaurant + spa (of the other variety), the Deutsche Eiche in Munich. Freddy frequented this place, and his favorite dish is still on the menu today. I have been there many times and i am not even gay. Just above average dining at reasonable prices with very friendly staff and you can basically be sure that there is an orgy going on one floor down, in the basement. I can also recommend the hotel, well maintained, excellent service, some weird design choices like transparent acrylic sinks illuminated with color-changing LEDs. Upper average on the prices, and all staff on the hotel side are good-looking gay guys in pink uniforms. They did buy a part of an adjacent appartement building to break through the foundation and make their own cellar, the basement, double size. Down there its an adult only amusement park with pools and spa and areas catering to all kind of fetishes a homosexual or bisexual might have, think Hugh Hefners playboy mansion but in gay. Religious people might place Sodom & Gomorrah right there, but from the outside and on the ground level its just a nice hotel with an excellent but reasonably priced restaurant. Munich has an inofficial Freddy Mercury statue already, a big bronze privately owned, but just recently decided to commission a bigger Freddy Mercury statue for permanent public display.

I've always felt bad that Freddie couldn't be his authentic self and let us know what he was going through. I know times were different, but I have faith that those of us who loved Freddie would have continued to love him fiercely. He was truly a gift from God. I hope he is looking down on us and loving watching the next generation fall in love with him, too.
@@JohnWarner-lu8rq i mean he sounds alr from the songs i heard he mainly focuses on opera which is different from queen ofc since they like to mix it up more with most of it being rock type ish u know also dimash is someone who is vocally trained while freddie isnt its all raw talent and power and ofc charisma i do like queen's song more and again wider vocal range and diversity of musical genre(al though from the 5 songs which were his most popular ones they were mainly if not completely opera and no changing ur pitch and everything doesnt change the genre) but he is very talented i will say
Oh, Queen at Live Aid is considered the best concert ever. They blew the rest of the acts out of the water and no one wanted to follow them after they got done.
One of my favourite memories is at Glastonbury festival waiting for the next act and this song came on for a sound check, within seconds people started singing and before I knew it there was thousands of people belting it out in front of the pyramid stage, which apparently could be heard at the otherside of the festival...what a magical moment, which just shows how much Queen are still loved to this day!❤❤❤
Freddie was Bi-Sexual. He was with his first love Mary for many years and were engaged. They never married but stayed close friends until his death. Freddie left his house and estate to Mary and she is the only one who knows were his creamted remains are. Mary figured out over time his interest in men and left Freddie to explore the other side of sexualty preferences.
@@JacquelineLeubin You cannot play the "Maybe" game, What if he never joined Queen "Maybe" he'd still be alive, What if he stayed in Zanzibar, What if they were touring at that point he contracted HIV or maybe it was on tour that he picked it up, What if someone never had sex with a the monkey that brought HIV over to Humans.......there are infinite What ifs that lead to endless Maybes but none of them change what happened and they certainly don't tell of any kind of potential future that may have been. If Freddy was alive today and had HIV it'll be more than likely that he'd live as our treatments have improved beyond recognition in the following 30 years
Freddie’s voice is incomparable! Queen is amazing! Probably my favorite band! Fun fact: the lead guitarist is Sir Brian May, an amazing guitarist and also Dr. Brian May, an astrophysicist! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
I think at the time, most listeners just enjoyed the music without delving into his personal life which he did keep very private, or for that matter, that of George Michael, Elton John, Mick Jagger, and David Bowie, etc. Freddie was loved for being a very creative writer, lyricist, musician, singer and front man. People put other meanings into the music years after the fact and seem to dwell on it. There were and are a lot of wonderful artists who should be enjoyed for their art, and the rest of it is really no one's business let alone to make disparaging remarks. You mentioned " Princes of the Universe," did you see the official video and that of "Gomme the Prize"? Both songs are from Highlander as are "One Year Of Love", "Who Wants to Live Forever, and "A Kind OF Magic" was written by Roger and derived by a line in the movie
Brian May is top 20 rock guitarist. He makes his own guitars. And yes, legitimate astrophysicist. Like literally a member of the historic society Isaac Newton was a member of.
Also BP if you do watch it bewr in mind freddie was ill and doctors told him not to perform but he did anyway also lady ga ga chose her name after her fav queen song radio ga ga
Each band member wrote songs for the band and each could’ve been a successful solo artist. That’s why their catalog has such range. Freddie was a recording perfectionist and this was pre-digital age. The way they did Bohemian Rhapsody was a major masterpiece in engineering. Roger Taylor, the drummer, sings the high notes in the backing vocals.
When my husband and I watched the movie and the credits rolled with this playing over them, our youngest son came running down the hall, threw his arm in the air and knew every word. I fell over laughing because, ironically, I did not know this particular song and my child did. It's definitely a mood lifter!
@@nikelodeon6852Unless its changed and they've done a new scientific study. It's this song. A scientist took songs from the last 50 years and looked at different aspects including notes etc.
If you really are interested in hearing more of Freddie’s amazingly beautiful voice, check out his opera duets with Montserrat Caballé. Barcelona and How Can I Go On are superb. He was so amazing. Miss him!
Yes, he say woman, then man in next verse. Feddie did enjoy a party, and a good time. His band mates weren't so happy with the song. They wanted him to slow down a bit. As open as he seemed, on stage, he was very private person. Its been said, especially early on, while trying to find himself, he ,had fun with just abot anybody. Commentors are right, please check out Queen at live Aid. Its a 20 min set, i promise, its worth it! You do great work with your channel. Very entertaining. Thank you. 🙂
Only Brian who had an issue with it saying it was sepratism He said man and woman! He was also salty about not being allowed to put more guitar on it After Freddies death he did a guitar version! Brian later claiming ge was concerned about Freddie in 78 is rubbish Freddie had met Joe when he wrote this and had left David Minns for him who he'd been with for 3 years Brian also likes to pretend he wasn't also promiscious!
Not sure if it’s mentioned in all the comments or not interesting fact about this song is that it is one of the happiest songs in the world, and that is scientifically proven.
Freddie Mercury (lead vocals/ piano) of Queen was a huge fan of Little Richard from the golden age of 50's rock n' roll music... "Don't stop me now" was his homage in 1978 to the sound and style of Little Richard... Queen were always groundbreaking since they debuted in 1973 and never stopped experimenting w/ musical styles (They even had a #1 disco hit in 1980 - 'Another one bites the dust') Vanilla Ice sampled a Queen song ('Under pressure') for his #1 rap single 'Ice ice baby' (Vanilla Ice was sued by Queen because he did not give the band songwriting credit for using the sample) Queen was a British band that was well ahead of their time... Freddie Mercury (lead vocals) was an Indian Parsi whose family moved to England... He graduated college but wanted to become a rock n' roll singer in the London scene, where he met the local band Smile in the late 60's - Brian May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums) were also university graduates looking for a career in music w/ Smile... but few cared at the time... Freddie joined the band after their bassist/ vocalist quit and renamed the band Queen in 1970 after John Deacon (bass) joined ... Freddie designed the Queen logo w/ each member's astrological sign... but this was years before Freddie realized that he was gay and was once engaged to his girlfriend Mary Austin (They remained close friends after they broke up in the 70's and she took care of Freddie until his death in 1991 from AIDS... Freddie gave her a bulk of his fortune in his will) It took a while before the music industry finally signed Queen in 1973... the band recorded their debut album w/ extravagant sounds and production and proudly claimed that no synthesizers were used on that record... However, the album sold poorly. Queen released 'Queen II' in 1974 and would make tracks w/ layers of vocal harmonies that gave them a unique sound... That same year, they released 'Sheer heart attack'... and got a surprising top 40 hit - the playful, cabaret-style song 'Killer Queen'... Queen spent months touring Europe and N. America and then discovered that they were huge in Japan. It was the epic track 'Bohemian rhapsody' which finally put Queen in the big time in 1975 by going #1 on the charts... the album 'A night at the Opera' became a huge hit worldwide... Queen would continue to rack up an impressive tally of hit singles in the 70's and platinum records like 'A day at the Races'... 'News of the world'... and 'Jazz'... By this point, Freddie Mercury was more comfortable w/ his sexuality and Queen moved to (West) Germany as tax exiles... The scene there inspired Queen to embrace pop music and used electronics and beats for what became a pop album 'The Game' in 1980 which yielded a #1 disco hit 'Another one bites the dust'... Unfortunately, the new pop sound cost Queen their popularity in N. America and the era of Reagan's America coupled w/ rumors about Freddie's sexuality got Queen ignored in the US for the rest of the 80's after the ill-fated pop album 'Hot space' in 1981... Queen never toured N. America again. Queen was still huge everywhere else when they released 'The Works' in 1984, despite their new pop sound... They enjoyed a triumphant short charity set at Live Aid 1985 where they stole the show at Wembley stadium. In 1986, they sold out 2 nights at Wembley stadium for the album 'A kind of magic'... Queen played their final tour of Europe in '86 and never performed in concert again. After Freddie Mercury was diagnosed w/ AIDS in 1987, it was kept secret from the public... but rumors still persisted that Freddie was ill as the AIDS epidemic became a reality worldwide. Queen worked on new music despite Freddie's diagnosis and went back to more of their early musical style of rock w/ the albums 'The Miracle' (1989) and 'Innuendo' (1991)... However, Queen would not tour and only appeared in music videos... By 1991, it was evident that Freddie Mercury was ill when he appeared thin & frail on Queen's music video which was filmed in '91 - 'These are the days of our lives'... Freddie Mercury returned to England in failing health and admitted to the press that he had AIDS just before he died in late 1991. Queen performed their last concert as a tribute to Freddie Mercury in 1992 at Wembley stadium w/ guest singers singing Freddie's parts... Queen released their final studio album 'Made in Heaven' in 1995 w/ tracks recorded by Freddie before his death... Bassist John Deacon retired from the music business as well. Lately, Brian May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums) have been touring w/ singer Adam Lambert as Queen + Adam Lambert... Adam Lambert is openly gay and a huge fan of Freddie Mercury and his music, so for him to perform Queen classics in concert brought a new spin on Freddie's legacy of music.
Great info ^^^ to add one thing... As replacements go, Adam does Freddie a great justice. No one will ever replace Freddie, but Adam pays a very respectable homage
@@fancyclan5679 Adam is NOT Freddie's "replacement" any more than Neil Fairclough is bassist John Deacon's 'replacement'... Queen will always be Freddie, Brian, Roger and John... Queen + Adam Lambert is NOT Queen...any more than Paul McCartney is The Beatles... They are a new vehicle to perform those classic Queen songs live in concert. I mean, Udo Dirkschneider doesn't call himself Accept (even though he's the original singer)... He tours and records as U.D.O. (or Dirkschneider when playing Accept songs exclusively)

Don't forget to add the Vanilla Ice actually lost the case as it was proven he sampled it - wich is the best thing to me as this song was really popular and not everyone actually knew the truth. Glad QUEEN won it :) As for other facts: - Brian May used the guitar that he personally crafted with his father and thats why his parts on the guitar are so unique fo the age and basically till now. - Great part of fortune of Freddie was spend to create his legacy a "THE MERCURY PHOENIX TRUST" which helped in funding to fight HIV and help people - helps them till this day. - During the live AID concert when singing the part of the song that says "that he is going to die soon as he made mistakes in life" Freddie says "That's truth" as it acknowledges his sickness and that he doesnt want to die yet. It was a powerfull act as he was sick during the day and not feeling well. Even though he is the reason why LIVE AID was such a great event as they rocked it!
@. Freddie had not been diagnosed till 1987, he did NOT know he was sick. Granted he did have a throat infection and sang against doctors orders it had nothing to do with aids. i want to let everyone know Queens performance at Live Aid has been considered the best live Rock Concert ever. There is nobody that touch Queens versatility and talent. Freddie was the best Front man ever, he was truly a legend. RIP dear Freddie the world never will forget you, your music will live forever. ❤
Queen is one of the greatest rock bands ever, and Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest singers ever. Just pick any Queens song and you can't go wrong. Thanks for the content
You should check out the Green Day concert in Hyde Park London. They were playing Bohemian Rhapsody as a filler before starting, you will never see again 65000 people sing a song in perfect unison , word perfect. It is amazing. RIP Freddie always missed
Next for Queen should absolutely be their Live Aid performance just to see the control they had over an audience. These were brilliant guys! Brian May has a PhD in Astrophysics and John Deacon has a degree in Electronics. No slouches!
in 1985 including the 72,000 people at Wembley Stadium in London and 89,000 people at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia. AND 1.5 Billion was watching it
Someone to Love, filmed live in concert in Montreal - equally brilliant! And yes we knew what he was saying - it didn’t matter - in the uk we loved him!! XXX PS there was a lot of experimenting going on - Kate Bush, Mike Oldfield, Blondie, Marc Bolan, Bowie, etc.
Yes! It would be my honor, Black Pegasus, if you would grant this particular request. I know you will be blown away. It's my honor because I admire your intellect and talent!
He did live in the fast lane. RIP Freddy. You are missed but never forgotten. He also had a cutting edge to his lyrics. He wrote a couple of nasty dis tracks. Death on two legs comes to mind of the top of my head.
Yes, I'd love to see more Queen. Always. So many amazing songs. Honestly, you're doing yourself a disservice and truly missing out the more time you spend without diving in!! Sending love to you and everyone reading this, from Baton Rouge!! 💙💙
I never thought of the lyrics in a sexual way, rather you couldn't stop his dreams, ambitions, quest for greatness or full life, etc. Rocket to the moon, ambitious.
You should really watch Queen's set at the monumental Live Aid concert from 1985. It was a charity concert with multiple venues. I re.ember watching it and Queen's set was electrifying. To this day many believe it was the best live performance EVER. They took over the stage and had the audience in their hands. Freddie was impeccable, even though he had been ill and his doctor had advised him it would be better not to perform. Many people wonder who would have been brave enough to follow them, and one man was up to the challenge, David Bowie.
This gorgeous soul swung both ways my friend but the love of his life was his wife. This band was un8que and ground breaking. All talented and very intelligent. Sir Brian May is an astrophysicist, wrote some of their songs by himself, helped write most of 5he others and is one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He still rocks those curly locks today. With as many songs as they have not surprised you don't know them all. Most people learn that they do know queen they just did not know that it was queen that sang some of their favorite songs. Highlander was good loved who wants to live forever.
If you want to see the best frontman ever and how much Queen are loved, watch the Live Aid set they did at Wembley 1985. Freddie held the crowd in the palm of his hand. It’s legendary!!!
my uncle was in a band with Freddie called Wreckage before he joined queen, you can find their old stuff still on the internet, its kind of crazy to hear his voice there to what it was in queen. till this day my uncle swears he gave freddie the idea for the queen band name because he would always call freddie the old queen and said he should call his next band that. He eventually joined Smile, which in turn he renamed to Queen. My uncle went on to be a manager for Joe Brown and various others was always crazy going to his house cause you would never know who would show up.
Great story, thanks for sharing. 🙂 I wonder, was it you or another relative of a Wreckage/Ibex band member who a few years ago shared here on YT the information (not usually appearing in biographies) that Freddie worked in Selfridges in the cutlery department before getting a job at the Kensington Market (and then the stall there, with Roger)? This was after he'd been with the band up north for awhile, and had come back down to London with this other band member to get work/ earn some money. According to the story, Freddie hated that job! I'd particularly like to trace that person who posted the info to confirm it, and clarify the likely dates, because while I was at college I had a part time job at Selfridges, around late 1968-69, and I'm pretty sure I encountered Freddie there one day, coming up from 'Kitchenware' in the basement while I was coming down the escalator from 'Hats'! I'd love to have the opportunity to check whether my memory based on those dates is likely to be correct. Thanks!
Freddy was bi-sexual, the love of his life and former fiance' was Mary; when he "came out", she told him that she couldn't live that lifestyle. They remained friends until his death and when he passed, he left the bulk of his estate to her. 30 years later, she is now starting to auction/sell his estate. The estate is on the market now.
It’s just a “have a good time song.” Freddie always intended his songs to be interpreted by the listener. He NEVER explained the messages or even if there were any messages. But this song was widely considered,”The Happiest song of All Time.” Some find drug references or se+ual messages or rebellion. To me, it’s pure joy and freedom.
You heard correctly, the lyrics in the beginning are "... I want to make a supersonic man out of you" in the middle the lyrics are "... I want to make a supersonic woman of you" Then, in the end, the lyrics repeats itself with "...I want to make a supersonic man out of you. " Freddie Mercury was bisexual and a damn good singer and showman on stage. It doesn't matter what your interpretation is to this song, music is subject to interpretation, such is the art of music. Excellent reaction. Peace ☮️
Freddie Mercury's band mates were all married men with children. And they were concerned about Freddie Mercury's lifestyle the wild parties and the rest I will leave to your imagination. As for the film Highlander check out the song( Who Wants to Live Forever) the official version and the live version at Wembley Stadium written by Brian May the guitarist of Queen for the film Highlander.

You should watch Queen’s performance in Live Aid. It was said, and as far as I know, still has the rep of being the best live performance ever. When they judge the best singers ever he usually comes in 1st hardly ever lower than 2nd. Before died fromAids he left a catalogue of music that will tear at your heart. He was in such bad shape at the end but he still kept on recording. And he wrote most of his own material. Brian the guitar player with the long hair co wrote songs with him so did Roger the drummer. They also wrote songs on their own too. Radio Ga Ga was written by Roger who was a darn good singer in his own right and did it while playing the drums. You really need to dive into this band. Their songs were incredible
The first time Freddie sang "I want to make a supersonic man of you." The second time, Freddie sang " I want to make a supersonic woman of you." The third time, he sang "I want to make a supersonic man of you." “Don’t Stop Me Now” is one of Queen’s masterpieces, a song that’s aged well with time and landed third on Rolling Stone’s list of the Top 10 Queen Songs. It’s a simple song, an energetic song that sees lead singer Freddie Mercury on a high that he wants to stay in, letting nobody pull him down. Freddie's personal life was complicated. He lived with Mary Austin for 6 years and they were engaged before he finally admitted to her that he was attracted to men. Mary remained Freddie's closest friend for the rest of his life and he left the majority of his estate to Mary including his beloved home, the Garden Lodge in Kensington. He referred to Mary as his "common law wife".
If you want to hear the ultimate diss track, check out their song “Death on two legs”. It’s about a manager Queen had that was ripping them off…..Freddie was so viscous with the lyrics that Brian May (the guitarist) said he felt really guilty playing the song live. I’d recommend the studio version. 👍🔥
I love that you like Freddie’s song Princes of Darkness from Highlander. All 4 guys wrote killler songs. Brian wrote Who Wants To Live Forever, John Deacon wrote One Year of Love ( a sexy love song), and Roger wrote Its A Kind of Magic. These boys could do it all. I miss Freddie, he truly was magical and born to make music. When destiny put the Queen members together it was like an explosion of creativity happened. Nobody sang like Freddie. 40 years later and still nobody has his charisma and golden voice. As Dave Grohl said “ If you want to learn how to be a rockstar just watch Freddie Mercury.” If you want to hear a band able to write every kind of song style from 1930’s styles, gospel, hard rock, ballads, waltz mixed with rick, blues, funk, and of course anthems then listen to Queen. Begin with their 1970’s albums and go to their final album just after Mercury’s death I. 1992. Btw nobody cared that Freddie was bisexual anymore than that Roger loved the ladies. For us teens it was all about the music. Try White Queen at Hammersmith Odeon and You Take My Breath Away 1976 at Hyde Park ❤
It's my favourite Queen song for very long and I've always heard as being about a general hunger and energy for fast lane hedonism, not hetero or homosexual nor from before or after his preference change. I'm not saying coming out because he considered it a private matter and his former fiancee remained fond of him so I respect that. I'm not a big Queen fan, but I love them for not sticking to their categorization as guitar rock band, but putting in their own quirks in and exploring other genres. By doing that they made quite a few songs I like very much and they made a lof of songs other like very much. Many times their new album got criticized for the band taking a different direction again, for the critics to eat humble pie decades later. I think their Live Aid concert in 1985 was special because they hardly had any "all album" fan base left but the whole world realized at the same time they had their own Queen songs they really loved.
Absolutely fantastic song and from a brilliant band. You need to watch the live aid concert from 1985. It will blow your mind. I would say one of the best performances from Queen. Thanks for what you do. Take care and blessings to you from England.
Freddie swung both ways. And he sang 'supersonic woman' then later 'man'. The song could be about sex, or dancing, or pretty much anything super energetic. Up to you.
Queen is one of the best bands ever! From Proto-Punk to Rock to Hard-Rock, Dance and Electronic (and more)! One of the very few bands that could do almost anything with top-tier quality (even Ska)😁
Somebody To Love live Montreal 81 is mandatory. Ranked as the second greatest live performance ever with Live Aid ranked as the greatest live performance in musical history. Queen ruled the world in their prime and were untouchable ❤️👑🎸🎤🥁🎹
I remember when this album (Jazz) came out in 1978. Many people suspected Freddie was gay but none of us really cared, he was a phenomenal talent and he is missed.
There was/is a music magazine, MOJO, that did themed issues, and back in the day they did a Queen issue, and in the Queen issue when they reviewed this song they said "Never has coke fueled gay sex sounded more fun". Lol lol The best. He was THE BEST. It IS about that.....and it is glorious.
Queen is a unique band with no desire to stick to any particular genre. All four members write songs and each have different tastes and all have written #1 hits. Freddie, Brian (guitar) and Roger (drums) are all singers and have been lead singers, John (bass) doesn't like to sing so he rarely did. I love this song, it always puts me in a good mood. Thank your or your reaction. Freddie did have relationships with women and was even engaged before he finally (mostly) settled with men. The woman he was engaged to remained his most trusted friend and confidant for the rest of his life and he left most of his wealth to her. She is also the only person who knows where his ashes are buried as per Freddie's request. He always considered Mary as his common law wife even though their relationship changed when Freddie admitted to her that he believed he was bisexual. The lyrics include both supersonic man and supersonic woman so there it is. Make of it what you may. This song wasn't a huge hit when the album dropped but over the years it has become a huge fan favorite. Freddie was having a good time, going to clubs and living the rock lifestyle as well as the club lifestyle. While he was never a drug addict or alcoholic, he was having the time of his life. Freddie was a man who was focused on his goals and his basic feeling was if you don't want to come along, then just get out of my way.
@@penelopemarines5154 Brian and Roger didn't write the movie screenplay and it was not a documentary. Freddie did do a lot of drugs for a time but he wasn't an addict, he was just partying really hard for a while. I did see the movie and I didn't think Freddie was portrayed as an addict, but then I grew up in the 60's and 70's and we partied hard often so I may be looking at it from a different perspective.
I can listen to this song over and over and over... a few months ago I think I clocked in at 30+ minutes of it on a loop. I don't know what it is about it that totally mesmerizes me. Great reaction, thanks!
"These are the days of our lives" is one of the last songs Freddie Mercury recorded. It was the one he basically was saying Good-Bye before he died. I'd love to see your reaction to it.
From what I heard, Freddie wrote this song during his freewheeling days in the clubs, hooking up with both men and women, but mostly men. Apparently his bandmates weren't crazy about this song because it pointed out Freddie's lifestyle. Not so much that he was with men, but that he wasn't really very discriminating and was sleeping around recklessly. If someone heard differently, I'd love to hear it.
Queen was really a music phenomenon. They are considered to be the "inventors" of music videos as well - at least they were one of the very first to do such things. There were few others before (videos), but the first "real" music video could be their clip to "Bohemian Rhapsody". I really miss Freddy and the rest of the fantastic Queen members so much. Would give my right arm to see them live...
These are the days of our lives. Best song ever by Queen. Freddy Mercury was so weak whilst performing his last song it was a miracle he had the strength to complete it. Beautiful lyrics about his life and his regrets. The guitar solo is sure to bring you to tears!!!!! Watch the video so sad and yet poignant.
I reccomendation you watch the film. Rami Malik won the Oscar for playing Freddie, I believe. It is a complex personal story but how Freddie guided their way with music producers is enlightening. You would enjoy that portion of the film, I am sure. ☺
Just turned on my notifications because you have a wonderful channel ❤️ It was a different time back then and I miss it. Only can relive it in my mind 😂
Queen began in the early 70s. Their first fairly big song and one of my favorites is Killer Queen. Then came Bohemian Rhapsody and the video is a must. From there it was no stopping them. They did a lot of diverse music from the rockabilly Crazy Little Thing Called Love (and a fun video), to Fat Bottomed Girls to Radio Ga Ga. Freddie was a master showman and along with Robert Plant the two best singers of the modern era. Brian May was a class A guitarist. John Deacon was the quiet one. on Bass and wrote several of their big songs. Then Roger Taylor on drums and Freddie's favorite for singing with as Taylor could do very high or regular sounding singing. All 4 were amazing musicians. Freddie's death was a tragedy and a blow not just to the band but, the music world as a whole.
I love this review! Thank you. I have a depression problem, and whenever I feel myself falling into the abyss...there are a few songs I play to get me up and dancing to try to ward off the darkness. THIS is most definitely one of those songs!!! Freddies voice and energy, the whole band-are amazing! It's such a feel-good song!
Queen played live Aid for hunger in Africa. A bunch of bands participated. Each had 17 minutes to play. There was several satellite feeds, a first. Two stages, one in England, one in the States. This was not a Queen audience. They had already toured, had their hits. And Freddie had a throat that he had been advised not to sing by his doctor. Backstage it was said backstage "They stole the show". They were back on top....went on tour...then the bad news Freddie has Aids. He sang until almost the end. Write something for me. I will sing. He would knock down a couple shots, then sing. That incredible 3 octave voice. His voice was studied and there was a
Just gotta say, I appreciate your taking the time to explain your viewpoint and more so appreciate your willingness not to judge others for being themselves. There are likely quite a few topics on which you and I disagree, but as long as people are willing to let others live their own lives, there’s plenty of room for all of us. And, of course, great reaction! I’m loving watching you experience so many of these classics, and you can never go wrong with Queen!
Absolutely! He swung both ways and the 70’s were a time of “coming out” for many including Freddy, Elton John and my brother. Talking about sex in songs hasn’t changed EVER.
Welcime to the Queen rabbit hole. Once you enter, you'll be in for the ride of your life. They do it ALL. Read back stories, watch their vids. They are awesome. They do many different genres. They are all highly educated. They are all master musicians in their own right. Tightest band you'll ever hear. Their catalogue is massive. You'll find a song for any day, any emotion, anything you're going through. And Freddie is the best frontman you'll ever have the pleasure of witnessing. Brian May is an astrophysicist with a doctorate. He and his father constructed his first guitar when he was a teen. They made it from bits if wood and metal from their house. He plays that guitar to this day. Roger Taylor studied dentistry. His drumming skills are off the charts. John Deacon has a degree in electronics. The "Deacy" amp has yet to be duplicated. Freddie's education was in graphic arts and design. The odds of having 4 people in perfect chemistry sync with each other and as a band as a whole is astronomically small, but the Gods put them together and we, Queen's fans, reap the incredible rewards.
I just love this song. I actually have this as my ringtone. Freddie's voice is truly amazing....he is a true legend. He was a private person.....he didn't come out saying that he was bisexual as I think as he didn't want people to focus on his sexuality. He wanted to be remembered for the music he made and 32 years after his death he is considered an icon - a legend. You'll have to do more Queen if you don't mind......LiveAid was considered the best 20 minute concert.....Under Pressure live at Wembley (the 5:56 minute version). His interaction with the crowd is insane. Another One Bites the Dust live at Wembley, Somebody to Love live at Montreal, White Queen live at the Odeon Hammersmith, and of course, you'll have to do Bohemian Rhapsody. Thanks for your reaction......it was great.
Dude, I love that. You mentioned princes of the universe. I have a huge queen fan for 42 years. I would say princes of the universe is probably one of my top 10 favorite Queen songs. There are so many and so many obscure ones that I love I’ve heard every one in their catalog so many times. This is a great song, of course. Some of my favorites are tenement Funster/flick of the wrist, March of the black queen, dragon attack, somebody to love, love of my life, I was born to love you, stone cold crazy etc…
I never associated this song with anything other than a really positive go getting song. A motivational song to inspire you to reach for the stars, be excited by life.
Thanks, Peg! This is widely known as one of the "happiest" songs evah! Gotta agree... lol appreciate your reaction.. the best thing about Queen was the pure talent.. from every member of the band.. they were not just Freddie & some back-ups.. they are the only band where each member has written a number one hit.. not just as "Queen" but ALL of them are in the songwriters HOF... appreciate your reaction...(p.s.... he said both "supersonic man" AND "supersonic woman".... he wanted us all to be supersonic... lol)
