We see for the very first time the face re-creation of the Polish Queen Jadwiga, the first female monarch of the Kingdom of Poland and the King Władysław II Jagiełło, who first ruled in Lithuania from 1377. Born a pagan, in 1386 he converted to Catholicism and was baptized as Władysław in Kraków, in order to be married to the young queen Jadwiga.

Jadwiga is not a QUEEN, SHE IS A RIGHTFUL AND TRUE KING of Poland. She was having a true power as monarch in her hands.

Thank you very much for showing our greatest kings, Jadwiga Andegaweńska and Władysław Jagiełło. In our history, they were both great patriots. The image of the queen on the Sarcophagi resembles the sarcophagus of Illaria del Carretto. The sarcophagus was built at the beginning of the 20th century.Unfortunately, we don't have any portrait of the queen. From the exhumation that took place at the end of the 19th century, the queen might have looked like this. From the remains it was concluded that she was 175-182 cm tall, with blonde hair.

Pretty girl, I'd be her subject and I'm not even Polish! 🥰 Nice to see monarchs from central/eastern Europe for a change (not that English/ancient rulers aren't as interesting.. it's the variety that appeals), hope to see some more from the region. Great work as usual my dude.

According to scripts , tales and legends Jadwiga was preetiest lady on earth those times. Kings from all the kingdoms all over the world wanted her as bride. Miss universum of 14th centaury and great leader as " king " of Poland.

I always thought she would have been brunette: aside from that one famous portrait of hers where she’s seated on the throne and has the Polish eagle embroidered on the bosom of her dress (forgot who it’s by), I know four people from Poland and they all have dark hair. I lol’d at Battle for Middle Earth’s “The Dwarves Explore” theme. Never knew Durin’s Folk were the first ones to discover Poland. 😜 Thank you for this video. Been waiting for a long time for it.

@@lavendelblue4368 see we in the West (that is to say, what was called the West during the Cold War) don’t know much about Polish history, if anything at all. Few of those sources have been translated and even fewer have made it this far west: it’s almost impossible to find books in English about Jadwiga (Wikipedia is not a credible source and I don’t speak more than three or four words in Polish)
@lavendelblue4368

The Poles differ, many of them have dark hair, many blonde. I'm pure blond, almost white hair and dark brown eyes for example. Genetics is unpredictable sometimes. :D . Thanks for a polite comment. Have a nice evening ( or day). :)

@panagiotisconstantinou Год назад
😀👍 What's the difference?
@bifa5414
@bifa5414 Год назад
@@panagiotisconstantinou In Poland "queen" was a title only for king's wife. In old polish language "królowa" (queen) means literally a wife of a "król" (king) and the part "owa" refers to a wife of someone so queen means literally "wife of king". Since Poland became a kingdom only a king could sit on the throne (don't count time of "district breakdown" where there was no king, only many dukes). So for Jadwiga to be a full ruler she needed to take the title of king. That would mean that even after marriage her husband wouldn't take charge and power from her. It worked, all tho it's weird how there was no female ruler of Poland before or after her (some count Anna Jagielonka 200 years later but that's another story).
@marvju209

@@roberttelarket4934 Like all people from the ruling families of Europe in 14th century, Jadwiga had a mixed origin with a great advantage of Polish roots. Many of her grandparents, grandmothers, great-grandparents, great-grandmother,s great-great-grandparents, great-great-grandmothers were Polish princes and princesses related to the Piast dynasty (ruling Poland for 500 years, from the mid-10th century to the end of the second half of 14th century). They ruled such districts of medieval Poland as Silesia or Kujawy and all of Poland (King Władysław Łokietek - Jadwiga's great-grandfather). In addition, among her ancestors was the Hungarian branch of the d'Anjou dynasty (derived from its Neapolitan branch of the d'Anjou), whose members married the Habsburgs, Hohenzollerns, Piasts, and princesses of the royal Serbian and Bosnian families (remember that, for example, Serbia was then the old, flourishing kingdom, these are times before the invasion of the Turks).
