I remember this as yesterday. This was something extraordinary. 16 hours of Music, live from two stages. I wasn't a fan of Queen until I saw this performance. No I am.
Hail Queen...!! Freddie Mercury....you can tell he absolutely loved performing for ppl & his ability to engage his fans....BRAVO...!!!! *gives a standing ovation to both Queen & The People* Thank you 'jera...for making this video available for The People to still enjoy
I lived in Glasgow when Live Aid was performed in Wembly Stadium. My Brother, Sister in Law, Sister, Brother in Law, Niece and Nephew were all there while I was stuck in my Pub (The Bank Restaurant) in Glasgow watching the show on a big screen TV.
6 minute long ballad with unconventional form and a strange a capella bridge. Yet everyone on the planet knows the whole song by heart. I'd say that's a fair testament to the sheer prowess of Queen.
Une dizaine d'années plus tôt. j'ai vu ce groupe à Sarrebruck, mon ancienne patrie. A cette époque, personne ne songeait à prendre part à un open air concert d'un groupe de format international!
Such an incredible, unique courage to write those lines - and sing them in such a cool manner, entering the stage so relaxedly and happily... This shows in the best way what sort of man he was. LOVE U FREDDIE, YOUR LIFE WAS REALLY WORTH WHILE, RIP
Saw Queen at Manchester Maine Rd Football Ground, Summer 86, Kind of Magic tour, battled to the front of the crowd, I can still feel the whole gig, an experience like that lives with you forever. Close my eyes and I can still see it. I was 17.
What a masterpiece this performance is! We'll never see this again! I'm glad he had his day in the sun and the world could see how phenomenal he truly was! A legend!
Freddie Mercury was an outstanding individual. He lifted people in their millions through his own thoughts, none other than Lennon/McCartney/Jackson have achieved that. He made you get inside his head...like McCartney and Lennon and Jackson did! The greats of the last 60 years. They spoke to your soul....and you love them for it! Freddie achieve immortality, simply because he knew how to touch you heart!
I was born in 1985, and although I too never had the joy, pleasure, or honor to see the legends in action I am glad that I am not only able to listen to their greatness, but to also see them on stage from years behind. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we are part of a lucky number of people who not only listen to them but also have a passion for the band for what they gave the world, an if you wish to, hold that thought and notion close to you, and hopefully it does some good for you .
I chanced a meeting in an English village & being an Australian fan, we had a couple of beers each (no photos & his staff didn't drink) in a pub. Totally charming humble man....WISE&VISIONARY
Już przy pierwszych dźwiękach skóra cierpnie mi,serce bije szybciej, dusza unosi się do nieba - myślami wracam do tamtych lat i stwierdzam,że to naprawdę było wspaniałe lata...Pozdrawiam;-
Having been born in 1984, I was robbed of the opportunity to enjoy the band in concert and I will forever be bitter. I am comforted only somewhat by youtube. I will love you forever Freddie. I look forward to seeing you on the other side. I miss you every day, and hope that you know you are forever loved.
Friends and I get together and we play this series of songs from his DVD and we rock and rock, and rock... and Rock. This is a reminder of the power of music. Freddie and Queen owned this... owned.... thnks for posting.
I remember seeing this on live tv back in 85! Eveyone stayed home to watch this it was once in a life time.Freddie we miss you! It's not even music they play now a days!
Thanks so much for this upload. It brought tears in my eyes. I was at Wembley for this concert and was amongst the thousands in the crowd. Just loved this - the whole concert. I remember watching Freddie Mercury and was one of those trying to sing with him. Absolutely worth it! Thanks sooo much for this upload.
Many people say RIP to Freddie. I say that this much genius cannot die, he still lives on in CDs, DVDs, RU-vid videos, radiowaves, itunes and every bad karaoke night :) 27 years later, this amazing gig is still being seen by old and fresh eyes alike. Freddie can never die. The show must go on!
exactly the year i was born . going to one of his gig is one of my ambition but it will never happen i love u freddie you are the best when ever i become depressed i listen to queen and get energy from his voice god bless him
One of the greatest performers of all time. What you don't see form the Live Aid videos is that when Queen came on it had just started to rain after being bloody hot all day. Freedie just lifted everbody beyond the reality and took them to another plain. the most awesome performance of all time. RIP Freedie we miss you dearly.
@Emerald007007 You're one lucky man, Chris! I was 2 years old when Live AID was broadcast and 8 years old when Freddie passed away. To stand 10ft from his presence is awesome. Thanks for sharing that with me and thanks for the nice comments.
whenever I think about how much I am giving of myself to the world and really expressing the full wattage of myself I hold this man up as my standard for letting it all hang.. because as he said, Nothing really matters, so don't ever care what the what you look like to the rest of the world or how they perceive you... just be yourself 100 percent... always. thank you Freddy.. rip.
QUEEN & Freddie - they will allus remain in the history books. What an incredible performer, song writer, singer, - I miss him & "that QUEEN" hype, sound etc. Of course loads of super bands since, - but most of them lack the "old style" intelligence, lust & love of music - as a teenager I felt I "knew him" - & at LIVE AID I was positive he winked at me - that's "showmanship" - "beauty" & downright brilliance. The world's still looking for another Mercury.
For those of us who love music....I think many would agree that there is very few people who have the range and power Freddie had ! In fact, he could actually be the best singer of the century ! Great stage presence as well...riveting.
When this was on TV I was 5 years old I watch the whole thing Freddie Mercury was awesome the whole show was cool to MTV was cool at this time it was a great time to be alive in the 80s as a kid or as a teenager
Freedie, he will always remain the best male singer and performer of the 80's by a long and great margin. there is no way Quenn could ever replace such a legend.
Quanti ricordi! Il Tempo è davvero un bestia incredibile da sopportare! Ero militare quando vissi quel Giorno INCREDIBILE passato a vedere in TV quel Concerto Epocale.Sono Passati 26 Anni.MI VIENE DA PIANGERE.
My Nan knew his Mother very well. What makes this whole thing a tragedy was that he was just a very nice human being and having said that he just happened to be one of the most talented people around doin his thing, in his time!! If you sick people are reading this- take this with you. He made a load of people - very very happy. Look at this energy. God bless you Freddie. We miss you and I wish I had seen you live. Don't listen to hate. In life there should be only positive energy and love.
Great performance - I respect Freddie and Queens, I do. They have blessed us with great music. If not for Elvis he would have been my favorite entertainer. But in my eyes no man or woman will ever out-perform the legendary king of rock n' roll.
Just fucking incredible. Freddie had the audience in the palm of his hand. The backshot, when he's facing them, shows the power he had over an audience. The greatest rock & roll front man without question. Daltrey's a close second, but Freddie was the man. Live Aid (1985) was a hell of a show.
