Pau, who wrote 90% of these songs, said in an interview that she loves to see how people react, read into the lyrics. While she had a definite idea in mind, she said she is astounded by how listeners take the songs to the next level, expand the storyline. Most 'adult' bands take years to perfect a concept album, and many end up discarding the idea as too complex. Some bands like Iron Maiden get it right, some, like King Diamond, might be labeled as taking it a bit too far. Depends on the POV. But I think TW did a fantastic job of telling a story of a young girl, who is interested in a guy that won't give her the time of day, and slowly falls into heartbreak, turned dark thoughts, which develop into an alter ego, and it all leads to the murder of the 1 she thought she loved..( some say murder suicide. You decide. The song The End gives the suggestion) The genius of the album is 1 can take ANY of the songs, play them as a single, and every one of them still works all by themselves. That's a pretty rare thing!
Pau DID NOT write 90% of the songs. She makes that VERY CLEAR herself in "Vlog #23", in which they all three discuss the writing process for QOTMS Chapters 1 and 2. Go watch it and LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY.
Well that was genius. I'm in television production. All the parts to this. 1. Matching the live footage to the studio album audio. 2. Graphics for all the lyrics and making them color coordinated by character. 3. Timing your voice overs to some breaks in the songs. 4. Editing it all down to a concise 27 minute video. Hats off to you. That was amazing.

A good synopsis of a great album. Although it does creep me out a little I do love this album and this band. This is a masterpiece! One of the most profound works of art I have ever experienced. I can't say enough about these talented sisters. They will be the biggest thing to hit the rock scene since Pink Floyd. This is real Rock! It stirs my emotions so much to talk about this! We have all been warned!
Great analysis, thank you! This is a deeply immersive and addictive album, many chilling moments with powerful music tracks. My favorite moment in the album comes during "The End" when the band's 3-part harmony cries out "what have I done" - just Wow!

This was really good, you explaining the story told by by each track. I love that you used the Lunario concert. This is definitely one of the best albums of The warnings three albums, soon there will be a 4th.

I have been thinking about a movie based in this story, but am not sure about it. Maybe an anime would be better. Time will tell. I don't watch anime neither, but in that case I'll have to...
@@jcalderon6973 I am in the development stage of doing a combination 2D/3D animation of this album. I have been listening to this album daily to get a visual of how to proceed with it. Since I have never done this before so I also have to get use to the program I am using. This is how much The Warning has inspired me.
@@jcalderon6973 This will take some time. I am out of practice. Also I have two other songs from XXICB, Black Holes and Show Me the Light. This incorporate modern dance. I have two options for this hand animate it or get it the dance motion captured and import the animation into the program I am using. One is a difficult learning curve for me and the other comes at a price.

Came across the band by mistake... I wasn't aware of their story and how they became "popular" on youtube with their Metallica cover. I always loved listening to full albums rather than just what other listeners think are the band's "best" songs - and I did the same with The Queen of the Murder Scene, and I wasn't disapointed. I can't say I got the whole concept during my first listen since I was more intrigued on the vocals and instruments - every song is different and brings something new and fresh while also having the same signature sound... where most of nowadays bands fail because they either don't know how to innovate or they overdo it - this album is a near-perfect example of how to balance it. I am a huge black metal listener so yeah I'm used to concept albums like this and it might sound like I'm praising this band too much but they are very talented. I have listened to some of their older stuff and I can't really get into it - it's just not for me, but this album is a rare pearl and I hope they get to do something similar but expand their sound a bit - try different things like other instruments or growling (i'm just jk).
I completely understand that! At first you focus on performance and only after some time you may start feeling that there's some story behind the songs! I would also love to hear Alejandra growling :D
@@Ragoline She has a really good voice though... just not experienced enough sings flawlessly but she can get there, she's started doing more singing as well during live gigs.

This combined with Timberwolfs text, and the TWB blogs, tell us a lot. Many of these songs hold up really well on their own, (well any of them as TWB cant make duds) but recently TWB has combined Dust to Dust with Dull Knives, with an extended outro of D2D connecting the two. I would love to see: the Preacher projected with the lyrics in Spanish, and maybe their translation, during D2D. Then fit Ugh in before Dull Knives. Dont want too much eh? Just a warmup till the anime of QOTMS!
It's really weird that I mentioned elsewhere that I believe this album to be a masterpiece it is my favorite INDIE record of the 2010s and my favorite album from The Warning. . .. turn on RU-vid and this is top of my recommends or algorithm rando. . . Time for deep dive. Again. ⚡
You may not see as this is 2 years old but great breakdown of the story. I found the girls vlogs where they discuss the same thing but liked your addition of all the live song parts. I'm going to look at your newer posts, I see something political and I hope you are safe, I don't yet know where you are from but war sucks.
Outstanding review. As well as highlighting how phenomenal the song writing, storytelling and musicianship is on this album, to me it shows how incredible Dany is as a front-women as you watch her transform through each song. She literally takes you on a journey. Great job Ragoline.
When I first listened to Dust To Dust I thought Dany's grinding guitar riff after Pau sings the lyric "let me show you" was more than a little menacing. The whole song felt quite dark and Dany's final singing note put me in mind of some of the better old b/w horror movies I've seen. Kind of the lost souls wailing in the darkness sort of vibe... telling me "buckle up,this is going to be a dark ride". A YT reactor has said recently(he's going through this album song by song in order) they are able to tell the story using just voice and instrumentation without relying on massive special effects to get the point across. A great album.
