Queen of the Night Cactus (Selenicereus grandiflorus) night- blooming time lapse 

mine bloomed last night....such a lovely and interesting flower...I stayed up until 2:30 watching and photographing.

It's amazing to see what a huge production some cactus flowers are. They take days to grow large enough to finally bloom, and they really are incongruous appearing out of what sometimes look like fairly inert, dull plants.

I have the epiphyllum oxypetallum queen of the night. Just bought my mum this one, they both have beautiful large flowers, I do know about this one but mine is supposed to smell great.

hi featheredfan, thanx for your comment, luv ure videos on cactuses. what does ure "smelly cactus" smells after? my queen of the night smells heavily after vanilla, in the whole house you can smell it (but funny enough at some years you don't smell a thing when it flowers).

The cactus is (still) in my conservatory of my house in the Netherlands. It is a cutting of a cactus from Palermo (Sicily, Italy).

That's nice, our Queens are very similar in many ways even though they are in another genus. Of course underground, ha well; do you like carrots? I have not made any videos about them yet, BTW. Yesterday I missed the first bloom of the season! Thanks for making this time-lapse video.

@sjaakzwart thnx for ure support. indeed ure right about the music, but i edited it so yt dont recognize it - i think... at 0:51 the unsupported stalk with the withered flower fell down, then i put the stalk up again.

The music is Phillip Glass, right? The music is one of the reasons I like your video so much. My friend has a Queen of the Night Cactus too. Very cool.

Because at other places its written to be the movement of eyes of the baby when the head is turned sideways
