Queens Of The Stone Age - Negative Space 

This explained my experience, in words I couldn’t find myself. In recent relatable terms- I tried a scotch two days ago (not a scotch drinker, warming up to good bourbons) and it tasted like bandaids (he shared he tasted “iodine” which also made sense)… I didn’t like it, but the aftertaste was pleasant and kept me thinking about whether I actually liked it, or not. Needless to say, your reference got me, there. These songs are amazing, and I even if I need a few listens to appreciate why.

Just lost my little brother a few weeks ago and the line “there’s gotta be someway back to earth” tears the soul and the heart swells like crazy man. Only because like you, we are asking and hoping there’s a way back to what was. I think what makes this album perfectly made is those themes, especially lyrics in Straight jacket fitting

It's tasteful. Sometimes it pauses and leaves open spaces in the song.

This doesn’t sound like QOTSA-I mean, it sounds like their last two albums, I guess, but those didn’t sound like QOTSA-so would you say you like newer stuff more than older stuff?

@@whothennow24 Because bands evolve and we have to accept it. I think I actually like this album just as much as I like Songs for the Deaf. Two different styles maybe, but that's what makes this band interesting: they never rest on their laurels.

im actually noticing how a lot of small parts of the video are in cue with the instruments like the drums with the fist pounding at 0:35 or how the occasional flashes of red with the main character outline happen in contrast to the beat

Agreed. Going all the way back to their self titled debut they have never released a subpar album. Even their most mediocre album is still chock full of good music

They're my favorite band in terms of, "Oh, they changed their sound. Well, that's new. DAMN. That's good!" Most bands change a sound, and it's cheap for what the record company wants to produce. I suppose that Señor Homme just makes what he wants to make. How many people have gone in and out of The Queens of the Stone Age?

This is my first exposure to them really, and I'm liking what I'm hearing a lot. What do you recommend from their back catalog?

@Tusitala1967 I'd say to start with the album, 'Songs for the Deaf' and 'Lullabies to Paralyze'. After that you should be hooked. Mind you, their styles change, but it's still eerily sexy in all forms.

Makes me grin bigtime everytime! Sometimes I rewind it. And I'm not even a drummer.

On the first couple of listens to the album without paying much attention to the song names, that chorus in particular is the part that kept popping into my head without knowing which song it actually belonged to. Now I just can't stop listening to it. Definitely my favourite out of the whole album

They manage to do it while still unmistakably being QOTSA too. You can't mistake them for anyone else, no matter how they twist their sound. One of our eras greatest Rock bands by far!
